Subject-specific dimensions for designing clothing patterns

The data set provided as a MATLAB (R2020a) binary file consists of 4 matrices. Each matrix has the size N times 23 and corresponds to the group of the Chinese adults (matrix adults_CN), the Czech adults (matrix adults_CZ), the Czech children (matrix children_CN) and the Czech adolescents (matrix teens_CZ). N is the number of measured subjects, where on each subjects, 23 anthropometric dimensions are measured. The dimensions in millimeters are consequently the total body height, the chest circumference (widest), the waist circumference (narrowest), the waist circumference (trousers), the hip circumference (widest), the shoulder width, the back width, the front length from neck to waist, the back length from neck to waist, the length from neck to shoulder, the sleeve length from neck to wrist, the arm circumference, the forearm circumference, the wrist circumference, the neck circumference, the length from crotch to knee, the length from crotch to ankle, the thigh circumference, the knee circumference, the calf circumference (widest), the ankle circumference, the length from waist to ground and the head circumference.

Data for: On the identification of hypoxic regions in subject-specific cerebral vasculature by combined CFD/MRI

A long-time exposure to lack of oxygen (hypoxia) in some regions of the cerebrovascular system is believed to be one of the causes of cerebral neurological disease. Performing {\em in vivo} studies on the human brain is complicated and can be highly risky for patients. In the present study, we show how a combination of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) can provide a non-invasive alternative for studying blood flow and transport of oxygen within the cerebral vasculature. We perform computer simulations of oxygen mass transfer in the subject-specific geometry of the Circle of Willis. The computational domain and boundary conditions are based on 4D flow MRI measurements. Two different oxygen mass transfer models are considered: passive (where oxygen is treated as a dilute chemical species in plasma) and active (where oxygen is bonded to hemoglobin) models. We show that neglecting hemoglobin transport results in a significant underestimation of the arterial wall-mass transfer of oxygen. We identified the hypoxic regions along the arterial walls by introducing the critical thresholds that are obtained by comparison of the estimated range of Damk\"{o}hler number ($Da\subset\langle9;57\rangle$) with the local Sherwood number. Finally, we recommend additional validations of the combined MRI/CFD approach proposed here for larger groups of subject- or patient-specific brain vasculature systems.

Dataset for paper "Motoneuron-driven computational muscle modelling with motor unit resolution and subject-specific musculoskeletal anatomy"

This dataset collects all the material that was used to create the personalised musculoskeletal model employed in the publication by Caillet et al. "Motoneuron-driven computational muscle modelling with motor unit resolution and subject-specific musculoskeletal anatomy" published in PLOS Computational Biology in 2023. The aim of sharing this material is to allow reproducibility of the results and increase adoption of the semi-automatic techniques for musculoskeletal modelling that were used in the publication.

Subject-specific features of excitation/inhibition profiles in neurodegenerative diseases

Brain pathologies are based on microscopic changes in neurons and synapses that reverberate into large scale networks altering brain dynamics and functional states. An important yet unresolved issue concerns the impact of patients excitation/inhibition (E/I) profiles on neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). In this work we used a simulation platform, The Virtual Brain (TVB), to simulate brain dynamics in healthy controls (HC) and in AD, FTD and ALS patients. The brain connectome and functional connectivity were extracted from 3T-MRI scans and the TVB nodes were represented by a Wong-Wang neural mass model endowing an explicit representation of the E/I balance. The integration of cerebro-cerebellar loops improved the correlation between experimental and simulated functional connectivity, and hence TVB predictive power, in all pathological conditions. The TVB biophysical parameters differed between clinical phenotypes, predicting higher global coupling and inhibition in AD and stronger NMDA receptor-dependent excitation in ALS. These physio-pathological parameters allowed an advanced analysis of patients’ state.

This database includes structural and functional connectivity matrices estimated from tractography and rs-fMRI time-series of each subject analyzed (15 HC, 15 AD, 15 FTD, 15 ALS). An ad-hoc grey matter (GM) parcellation atlas has been created combining 93 cerebral (including cortical/subcortical structures) and 31 cerebellar labels. Each GM parcellation is reported as a node in the connectivity matrices. Two types of SC matrices are reported: a distance matrix containing the length of tracts connecting each pair of nodes and a weight matrix in which connections strengths (number of streamlines) are normalized by the maximum value per each subject. The time-course of BOLD signals has been extracted for each node and the experimental FC matrix (expFC) is computed as the Pearson’s correlation coefficient (PCC) of the time-courses between each pair of brain regions.
