Physiological parameters for three farm animal species (cattle, sheep, and swine) as the basis for the development of generic physiologically based kinetic models

IMPORTANT : PLEASE DISREGARD VERSION 1 OF THIS UPLOAD SINCE IT INCLUDES ERRONEOUS INFORMATION.

This excel file (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.3433224) provides physiological parameters and their inter-individual variability (mean, coefficient of variation, sample size) for three farm animal species: cattle (Bos taurus), sheep (Ovis aries), and swine (Sus scrofa domesticus). These physiological parameters were estimated based on the results of extensive literature searches and specific experimental data described in Lautz et al., (2020). This file is associated with R codes (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.3432796) for generic PBK models, partition coefficient Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship (QSAR) models for each farm animal species and parameterisation of the model.

The full data collection and implementation of the models using case studies are described in Lautz et al., 2020 (10.1016/j.toxlet.2019.10.008).

African Swine Fever Worldwide Epidemiology Data - OIE Webscrape example - Geocoded using Google API and Manual

Example African Swine Fever dataset generated by programs described in following publication

Title: Web-scraping programmatic techniques in aggregating difficult to access OIE WAHIS animal disease outbreak information; using African Swine Fever in Europe as an example.

Short running title: Methods for web-scraping OIE WAHIS data.

Abstract: This study describes and makes available new methods for acquiring difficult to access, publicly available, disease surveillance data. It uses World Organisation for Animal Heath (OIE) data on African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreaks in Belarus and its neighbouring European countries to showcase the importance of adequate disease surveillance data to inform decision-making. The data acquired from these methods allow for large-scale, geospatial outbreak mapping and summary statistics of any terrestrial disease listed on the OIE World Animal Health Information System (WAHIS) database. These techniques will make important epidemiological data more accessible to the scientific community and aid in gaining further insight into the occurrence and spread of OIE listed diseases in a timely manner, fulfilling an important function of disease surveillance.

Cellular and Humoral Immune Responses after Immunisation with Low Virulent African Swine Fever Virus in the Large White Inbred Babraham Line and Outbred Domestic Pigs

Raw data for manuscript. Contains temperature, clinical scores, qPCR, blood cell numbers and immune responses over time for two groups of pigs immunised with low virulent African swine fever virus and challenged with highly virulent virus. Data for each panel or figure is displayed on a separate worksheet in the file. The readme worksheet contains a brief description of each figure. The majority of data is displayed in an XY table format, with the number of days post immunisation with low virulent virus indicated.

Raw Data for the article: Donor Preconditioning with Inhaled Sevoflurane Mitigates the Effects of Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury in a Swine Model of Lung Transplantation

Primary graft dysfunction (PGD) and ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) occur in up to 30% of patients undergoing lung transplantation and may impact on the clinical outcome. Several strategies for the prevention and treatment of PGD have been proposed, but with limited use in clinical practice. In this study, we investigate the potential application of sevoflurane (SEV) preconditioning to mitigate IRI after lung transplantation. The study included two groups of swines (preconditioned and not preconditioned with SEV) undergoing left lung transplantation after 24-hour of cold ischemia. Recipients' data was collected for 6 hours after reperfusion. Outcome analysis included assessment of ventilatory, hemodynamic, and hemogasanalytic parameters, evaluation of cellularity and cytokines in BAL samples, and histological analysis of tissue samples. Hemogasanalytic, hemodynamic, and respiratory parameters were significantly favorable, and the histological score showed less inflammatory and fibrotic injury in animals receiving SEV treatment. BAL cellular and cytokine profiling showed an anti-inflammatory pattern in animals receiving SEV compared to controls. In a swine model of lung transplantation after prolonged cold ischemia, SEV showed to mitigate the adverse effects of ischemia/reperfusion and to improve animal survival. Given the low cost and easy applicability, the administration of SEV in lung donors may be more extensively explored in clinical practice.

African Swine Fever spread across Asia, 2018-2019

Information on the locations and dates of AFS outbreaks throughout Asia was gathered from the OIE. Immediate Notifications and Follow-up reports were accessed from the Report Archive of the World Animal Health Information Database (WAHIS) Interface.[1] Reported ASF outbreaks were selected if they were located in an Asian country between 1 August 2018 and 31 December 2019. For each report, the following information was extracted: date of report, outbreak start date and end date (if applicable), location (latitude/longitude and by name), unit type, number of susceptible animals, number of cases, deaths and number of animals killed and disposed of. Reports were only included for domestic pig populations; reports of occurrence in wild boar were excluded. Data were imported into Microsoft Excel 2016 and all reports were combined into a single dataset for further analysis. Error checking was performed by ensuring logical values were recorded for each data point and by random selection of 5% of the data to manually check against the original reports.

[1] https://www.oie.int/wahis_2/public/wahid.php/Wahidhome/Home
