Data and Code For PhD Thesis- Making an Impression: An Assessment of the Role of Print Surfaces Within the Technological, Commercial, Intellectual and Cultural Trajectory of Book Illustration c.1780-c.1860.
<p><strong>Overview</strong></p> <p>These datasets support research found in the PhD Thesis entitled: Making an Impression: An Assessment of the Role of Print Surfaces Within the Technological, Commercial, Intellectual and Cultural Trajectory of Book Illustration c.1780-c.1860, submitted by William Finley. The data was provided by the British Library as part of a wider ambition to digitise millions of book illustrations (further details can be found here: <a href="https://github.com/BL-Labs/imagedirectory">https://github.com/BL-Labs/imagedirectory</a>). The main dataset contains 6063 rows and 108,784 illustrations. All of the data is held in comma-separated values (csv) files. The collection has been subdivided in order to interrogate the dataset further. <p>This data set contains the supplementary data sets (1-3) and exported foreground data processes from OpenLCA for the manuscript “Understanding environmental trade-offs and resource demand of direct air capture technologies through comparative life-cycle assessment”, submitted to Nature Energy.</p> <p>This repository contains:</p> <ul> <li>Supplementary data set 1: Ancillary calculations and numerical values for HT-Aq DAC</li> <li>Supplementary data set 2: Ancillary calculations and numerical values for TSA DAC</li> <li>Supplementary data set 3: Ancillary calculations and numerical values shown in plots and table 3</li> <li>Foreground data from OpenLCA. <p>Dataset includes 2.5 hours real-world data, for one participant from each of the technical validation study cohorts: ongestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), healthy adult (HA), multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson’s (PD) and proximal femoral facture (PFF) linked to the manuscript entitled ‘Assessing real-world gait with digital technology? Validation, insights, and recommendations from the Mobilise-D consortium’. Research compendium for 'Bringing shape into focus: Assessing differences between blades and bladelets and their technological significance in 3D form'
<p><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> <p>Laminar technologies were adopted by Paleolithic foragers to produce a variable range of stone implements. Archaeologists have reconstructed the different reduction procedures involved in the production of laminar stone tools, often underlying a separation between the bigger blanks (i.e., blades) and smaller bladelets. However, these two blank types are in most cases poorly defined, as their classification typically relies on arbitrary size thresholds that do not consider blank shape, which is a fundamental component of tool production and function. In this study, we investigate whether traditional classifications of blades and bladelets are morphologically and technologically meaningful. For this purpose, we employ a three-dimensional geometric morphometric approach on a large sample of complete blanks retrieved from one of the earliest laminar industries assigned to modern humans in southern Europe: the Protoaurignacian from Fumane Cave. We rely on a cutting-edge protocol for acquiring virtual 3D meshes of stone tools using micro-computed tomography. This novel approach allows us to scan large quantities of small lithics in a short period of time and without the typical technical problems associated with scanning small objects. After calculating the principal components of shape variation, we explore differences and similarities across the dataset using linear discriminant analysis and analysis of variance. Our multivariate study highlights distinct morphological tendencies across blades and bladelets that are however better framed when the technological organization of Protoaurignacian stone knapping is taken into consideration. Overall, our results demonstrate that virtual analysis of stone tool shape can help elucidate aspects of lithic technology and its implications for past human behavior.</p> <p><strong>Overview of contents:</strong></p> <p>1. PC scores of the PCA performed in <em>geomorph</em> and .csv dataset with all attributes used in this study;</p> <p>4. Data from: Development of Diversity Arrays Technology markers as a tool for rapid genomic assessment in Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus
The development of genomic markers is described for Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus, using the Diversity Arrays Technology (DArT) genotype-by-sequencing platform. A total of 13 215 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers and 12 490 silicoDArT (dominant) markers were identified from broodstock of two selective breeding programs [Genetically Improved Farmed Tilapia (GIFT) strain from Malaysia and the Abbassa strain from Egypt]. Over 10 000 SNPs were polymorphic in either strain, and 2985 and 3087 showed strain-specific polymorphisms for the GIFT and Abbassa strains respectively. We demonstrate the potential utility of these markers for rapid genomic screening and use in breeding programs.

An Assessment of University Students' Perception Towards the Adoption and Use of Mobile Learning Technologies for Learning
<p>Mobile learning technologies serve has as a transformative tool in the educational sector which gives room for accessibility, flexibility and scalability. It also improves student learning outcomes. This study aims to review research on students' attitude and perception towards the adoption and implementation of mobile learning technologies using the Unified Theory and Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model. From the studies, results showed that students' perception has a major impact on the adoption and use of mobile technologies. However, based on the various literature reviewed, students' perception is influenced by performance expectancy, effort expectancy (ease of use of the technology), social influence, perceived enjoyment and satisfaction. All these must be put into consideration before design and implementation for the effectiveness. Nevertheless, if all or some of these constructs were not incorporated in the development of mobile learning technology, obstructs the adoption and implementation of mobile learning.</p>
