Dataset for "Universality of grain boundary phases in fcc metals: Case study on high-angle [111] symmetric tilt grain boundaries"

This repository contains the input files, scripts, and raw data of the simulations for the paper "Universality of grain boundary phases in fcc metals: Case study on high-angle [111] symmetric tilt grain boundaries".

This data comprises structures of grain boundaries in high-angle [111] symmetric tilt grain boundaries in fcc metals as modeled by various (M)EAM potentials. Investigations include ground state thermodynamic excess properties, excess free energy calculations under stress or strain and with varying temperature, and related molecular dynamics simulations.

See README.md for details.

Dataset: Hourly Solar Radiation at Tilt Angle and Direction in Tel Aviv

This dataset is based on hourly month averages of a typical year in Tel Aviv as determined by the Israel Meteorological Service. The results are for every hour for 6 tilt angles and 16 directions.

The dataset is in two parts. The first part contains the global radiation every hour in 6 tilt angles and 16 directions in Tel Aviv, expressed in W/m2.

The second part contains conversion factors from global radiation on the horizontal surface to the selected tilt angle and direction.

The dataset includes 96 tables expressed in W/m2 and 96 tables of conversion factors. Each table contains data for each hour between 5:00 and 19:00 each month, 180 items per table. Total the dataset includes 17,280 conversion factors and the same number of global radiation records in W/m2.

The dataset is available online at nowagreen.com/se.

Mutually validated Tilt Angle Dataset

Mutually-Validated Tilt Angle Dataset

This dataset provides reliable sunspot group/active region(AR) tilt angle data and several other parameters from 1996 to 2018.

Overview

The dataset is generated by mutually validating two existing datasets: (1) A-live-homogeneous-database-of-solar-active-regions by Ruihui Wang, Jie Jiang and Yukun Luo (WJL), and (2) Debrecen Photoheliographic Data sunspot catalogue by Baranyi, T., Győri, L. and Ludmány, A. (DPD). The original datasets can be downloaded via their websites: A-live-homogeneous-database-of-solar-active-regions and Debrecen Photoheliographic Data

The mutual validation is automatically accomplished by Python. The code, mutual_validation.py, is attached. For a more detailed description of the mutual validation method, see Lang Qin, Jie Jiang, Ruihui Wang, Mutual Validation of Datasets for Analyzing Tilt Angles in Solar Active Regions(APJ under review)

Data Description

The mutually validated datset is in the file mutually_validated_tilt_angle_dataset.xlsx. There are 14 columns, each contains a type of parameter. The meanings of each header are as follows:

date_dpd: date of observation in DPD dataset

lat_dpd: heliographic latitude of the sunspot group

lon_dpd: (Carrington) heliographic longitude of the sunspot group

area_dpd: the total area of the sunspot group in μMSH

tilt_dpd: the tilt angle of the sunspot group

date_wjl: date of observation in WJL dataset

lat_wjl: heliographic latitude of the active region

lon_wjl: (Carrington) heliographic longitude of the active region

area_wjl: the total area of the active region in μMSH

flux_wjl: the total unsigned magnetic flux of the active region in Mx

tilt_wjl: the tilt angle of the active region

number: the NOAA number

CR: the Carrington rotation number of the sunspot group/active region

consistency: the marker of whether the two tilt angle values are close enough to be considered consistent. "1" means consistent and "0" means inconsistent

Author

Lang Qin, Jie Jiang, Yukun Luo

High-definition electron diffraction patterns and their indexation results of a polycrystal Al-Mg sample of various tilt angles

This dataset of 2 EBSD scans, each of 1200 high-resolution (1200×1600) electron diffraction patterns, is acquired from the same area of an unstrained polycrystal Al-Mg sample. The patterns are recorded by a Bruker eFlashHD camera mounted on Tescan MAIA3. The sample tilt angle is 60° and 65°, the step size 1.625 µm, the beam current 10 nA and the accelerate voltage 20kV. The EBSD acquisition with tilt angle 70° is shared in the link https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.6990325. The indexation results, in format 'mat' of Matlab, by integrated digital image correlation (IDIC EBSD) and integrated digital image correlation based on gradients (IDIC-G EBSD) are also provided. For each diffraction pattern, 6 parameters are stocked, i.e. the Euler angle triplet (expressed in radians and with reference to the EBSD detector) and the coordinates of the projection center.
