Genome-wide association study of full body nevus count in the Brisbane Twin Nevus Study (BTNS)

<p>The project uses the Brisbane Twin Nevus Study (BTNS) (N=3863)) to compare nevus counts on different anatomical sites to assess which anatomical site serves as best proxy for counting nevi on the whole body.In the project, a GWAS of nevus count on the whole body and GWAS of nevus count on the outer arm are performed.Here is the GWAS of total nevus count.</p> <p>Sample: GWAS analysis only includes samples of European ancestry. total nevus count were counted by trained research nurse.</p> <p>Genotype: All genotypes were imputed to a human haplotype map (HapMap) reference panel. Genome-wide association analyses were performed using Genome-wide Efficient Mixed model Association (GEMMA), which can account for genetically related individuals such as twins and siblings. theoretical and experimental study of the deposition of dielectric stacks on twin-hole silica fibers for implementation of compact all-fiber resonators

<p>This dataset includes the Matlab code to engineer theoretically a&nbsp;Bragg stack made of different dielectric layers. By changing the number of alternating stacks,&nbsp;their thickness and the refractive index of each layer it is possible to obtain&nbsp;the transmission curve of the Bragg stack versus the wavelength&nbsp;of the light in a certain range of values. The dataset includes also the experimental measurements of the resonances related to one of the fabricated compact resonators (based on the twin-hole fiber not poled) and obtained sweeping the wavelength of the input light injected through&nbsp;one of the two Bragg stacks and collecting the power at the exit of the other Bragg stack. &nbsp;</p>

Data from: Association between total dose of ritodrine hydrochloride and pulmonary edema in twin pregnancy: a retrospective cohort study in Japan

Objective Pulmonary edema is recognized as a severe side effect of ritodrine hydrochloride. Recently, the number of twin pregnancies has been increasing. Few studies have reported the association between total dose of ritodrine hydrochloride prior to delivery and pulmonary edema in twin pregnancy. We aimed to examine this association and determine the optimal cutoff threshold of total ritodrine hydrochloride dose to predict the incidence of pulmonary edema in twin pregnancy, based on obstetric records. Design Retrospective cohort study. Setting Yamanashi Prefectural Central Hospital, Japan Participants Two hundred twenty-six women with twin pregnancy who delivered at Yamanashi Prefectural Central Hospital between September 2009 and November 2016 Methods The obstetric records of the participants were analyzed. We defined one unit of ritodrine hydrochloride as 72 mg per 24 h continuous transfusion at 50 µg/min to calculate the dose of ritodrine used for tocolysis. Outcome measures Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to examine the association between total dose of ritodrine hydrochloride used for threatened preterm labor and pulmonary edema, while controlling for potential confounding factors. Then, a receiver-operating characteristic curve was used to determine the optimal cutoff of total ritodrine dose to predict pulmonary edema incidence. Results Mean maternal age was 32 (range, 18-46) years; 143 participants were nulliparous (63.3%), 109 had (48.2%) term deliveries, and 194 (85.8%) had cesarean deliveries. The overall incidence of pulmonary edema was 13.7% (31/226). Multivariable analysis showed that the total dose of ritodrine was significantly associated with pulmonary edema (adjusted odds ratio 1.02; 95% confidence interval, 1.004-1.03). The best cut-off point to predict the incidence of pulmonary edema was 26 units (1872 mg) (sensitivity, 61.3%; specificity, 87.8%). Conclusion Our results suggest that consideration of the total dose of ritodrine hydrochloride is helpful in the management of patients with threatened preterm labor in twin pregnancy.

Self-organization of conducting pathways explains complex wave trajectories in procedurally interpolated fibrotic cardiac tissue: a digital-twin study

<p><span>In precision cardiology, digital twinning technology (DT) holds promise for predicting arrhythmias by </span><span>leveraging patient data and biophysics knowledge. However, current DTs are designed to directly reproduce biopotential conduction in cardiac tissue, while only indirect non-invasive methods can be clinically implemented on real organs. This discrepancy challenges our understanding of DT applicability limits. This study aims to enhance DT by developing an in-vitro training complement. We conducted a frame-by-frame comparison of in-vitro optical mapping of biopotential conduction with machine learning (ML) optimized DT predictions. Patient-specific self-organized tissue samples of human induced pluripotent stem cells-derived cardiomyocytes (CMs) with diffuse fibrosis served as DT prototypes. High spatiotemporal resolution optical mapping recordings (</span><span>&Delta;</span><span>x=117 &plusmn; 4 </span><span>&mu;</span><span>m, </span><span>&Delta;</span><span>t=7.69 ms) and immunostainings were used to reproduce fibrotic samples with a linear size of 7.5 mm. Using data-driven ML-optimization of the Cellular Potts model, we examined wave propagation at the subcellular level. The modified Glazier-Graner-Hogeweg model accurately reflected the &ldquo;perinatal window&rdquo; until the 20th day of differentiation, affecting CMs self-organization. The percolation threshold of virtual conductive pathways reached 26% (26.7 &plusmn; 2.9% of CMs in-vitro), resulting in a spatial correlation of amplitude maps between prototype samples and their DT with Pearson&rsquo;s coefficients of 0.83 &plusmn; 0.02. As a proof-of-concept, we demonstrated the ability of ML-optimized DT to predict and interpolate wavefront trajectories in optical mapping recordings. We found that mathematical approximation of fibrosis distribution played a key role in DT prediction accuracy, potentially informing the implementation of LGE-MRI detection of fibrosis within cardiac DT frameworks.<br><br>Dataset A: <span>Immunostaining images were sorted based on the day of enzymatic disaggregation (before and after day 20). The EcoTrends project was established in 2004 by Dr. Debra Peters (Jornada Basin LTER, USDA-ARS Jornada Experimental Range) and Dr. Ariel Lugo (Luquillo LTER, USDA-FS Luquillo Experimental Forest) to support the collection and analysis of long-term ecological datasets. The project is a large synthesis effort focused on improving the accessibility and use of long-term data. At present, there are ~50 state and federally funded research sites that are participating and contributing to the EcoTrends project, including all 26 Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) sites and sites funded by the USDA Agriculture Research Service (ARS), USDA Forest Service, US Department of Energy, US Geological Survey (USGS) and numerous universities. Data from the EcoTrends project are available through an exploratory web portal (http://www.ecotrends.info). This web portal enables the continuation of data compilation and accessibility by users through an interactive web application. Ongoing data compilation is updated through both manual and automatic processing as part of the LTER Provenance Aware Synthesis Tracking Architecture (PASTA). The web portal is a collaboration between the Jornada LTER and the LTER Network Office. The following dataset from Santa Barbara Coastal (SBC) contains animal cover of Plumularia measurements in percent units and were aggregated to a yearly timescale.
