Different adaptation error types in affective computing have different effects on user experience: a Wizard-of-Oz study

<p>The record consists of one Excel file that contains individual participant data for the study "Different adaptation error types in affective computing have different effects on user experience: a Wizard-of-Oz study". The study included 97 participants who were randomly divided into five groups corresponding to five adaptation behaviors (SingleSmall, SingleModerate, ImmediateLow, ImmediateHigh, IrreversibleHigh). Each participant took part in three 11-minute intervals. Difficulty changed every 60 seconds in each 11-minute interval, and there are thus 11 difficulty values per interval. At the end of each interval, participants self-reported their experience using the NASA Task Load Index (6 items) and Intrinsic Motivation Inventory (8 items). After the third interval, participants were asked to rate how much they liked the 3 intervals on a visual analog scale that was converted to 1-100 numerical scores.</p>

<p>This research aims to evaluate user perceptions of the design and functionality of the BRI Smart Billing Mobile app. Through a questionnaire distributed to active BRI Smart Billing users, this study will identify factors that influence user satisfaction with the visual appearance, layout of elements, and ease of use of features available on the dashboard. The results of this research are expected to provide input to the application developers regarding efforts to improve the quality of digital application services and provide recommendations for improving the design of the BRI Smart Billing Mobile dashboard to be more user-friendly and meet user needs.</p>

Contrasting Third-Party Package Management User Experience

<p>The management of third-party package dependencies is crucial to most technology stacks, with package managers acting as brokers to ensure that a verified package is correctly installed, configured, or removed from an application. Diversity in technology stacks has led to dozens of package ecosystems with their own management features. While recent studies have shown that developers struggle to migrate their dependencies, the common assumption is that package ecosystems are used without any issue.&nbsp; In this study, we explore 13 package ecosystems to understand whether their features correlate with the experience of their users. By studying experience through the questions that developers ask on the question-and-answer site Stack Overflow, we find that developer questions are &nbsp;grouped into three themes (i.e., Package management, Input-Output, and Package Usage).<br> Our preliminary analysis indicates that specific features are correlated with the user experience. Our work lays out future directions to investigate the trade-offs involved in designing the ideal package ecosystem.</p>

Building bridges: mapping diverse classifications for a seamless user navigation experience

<p>This paper describes a BBC project to unify Archive and Production workspaces, during<br> which numerous issues with managing different types of metadata and Knowledge Organi-<br> sation Systems (KOSs) were encountered. Integrating diverse content silos requires bringing<br> together not simply the assets, but also the metadata used to manage those assets. The paper<br> summarises the theoretical background to the project, the BBC&rsquo;s &lsquo;information ecosystem&rsquo;,<br> and the user research and requirements-gathering exercises undertaken.<br> Much work on developing metadata crosswalks has been at the heading or label level, and<br> not based on semantic analysis of the content of the labelling or description. However, such<br> semantic analysis needs to be undertaken when mapping diverse taxonomies, thesauri, and<br> keyword lists and, in practice, often needs to balance preservation of local or specialised<br> terminology with accessibility for general users. Just as metadata about content permits the<br> organization of that content, so metadata about metadata (parametadata, or meta-metadata)<br> permits the organization of metadata, enabling end users to make informed browse and<br> navigation choices. Increasingly, in order to integrate content, different KOSs, such as<br> taxonomies and ontologies, need to be related.<br> The paper concludes by summarising the ways in which problems that arose during the<br> integration project were resolved, and how policies for managing parametadata, subjective<br> metadata, and semantic-level mapping were developed.</p>

Data from: User experience methods and maturity in academic libraries

<p>This article presents a mixed-methods study of the methods and maturity of user experience (UX) practice in academic libraries. The authors apply qualitative content analysis and quantitative statistical analysis to a research dataset derived from a survey of UX practitioners. Results reveal the type and extent of UX methods currently in use by practitioners in academic libraries. Themes extracted from the survey responses also reveal a set of factors that influence the development of UX maturity. Analysis and discussion focuses on organizational characteristics that influence UX methods and maturity. The authors conclude by offering a library-focused maturity scale with recommended practices for advancing UX maturity in academic libraries. </p>
