Wind Value Literature Selection for End-of-Life Valuation Excel File WP 5.1

Authors from Wind Value, the Re-Wind Network and IEA Wind Task 45 carried out research on methods of processing end-of-life wind turbine blades. This included a structured literature review which selected the literature in the Excel file. Part of this work helps to estimate the value of an end-of-life wind farm contributing to Work Package 5.1 of the Wind Value project. The paper was pubished as Deeney et al. (2025) End-of-life wind turbine blades and paths to a circular economy, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews.

"Determinants of football players' valuation: a systematic review" datasets

3 interdependent tables are available and are the materials used for a systematic review of the determinants of football players' valuation.

- model_specifications is a table where each row represents one of the 111 model specifications included in the systematic review. Characteristics of the article from which specification was retrieved (title, year, authors, journal), attributes of the specification (sample size, population, econometric modeling, etc.), the significance levels of included variables, and the associated coefficients for significant variables.

- model_specifications_dictionnary precise the names of the columns of the table model_specifications.

- variables_definitions_and_classification is a table that details all the 471 variables used in the 29 articles analysed with definitions quoted from articles when possible and presents a classification of these variables into 6 categories and several subcategories.

Europe-wide public preferences for plankton-based ecosystem services and marine biodiversity from a series of Deliberative Monetary Valuation workshops

The data were collected as part of the Horizon Europe project BIOcean5D – Marine Biodiversity Assessment and Prediction Across Spatial, Temporal and Human Scales. The aim of the study was to elicit public preferences for marine biodiversity and ecosystem services, with a particular focus on plankton. This dataset comprises responses from a series of Deliberative Monetary Valuation workshops held across Europe, along with the corresponding supplementary material. The responses encompass a range of data, including socio-demographic information, personal characteristics, beliefs, prior knowledge, preferences derived from a Discrete Choice Experiment, and the associated motivations of each respondent. In total, 15 workshops were conducted between October 2023 and February 2024 in the following locations: Poland (Poznan and Sopot), Italy (Padova and Chioggia), the Basque Country (Vitoria-Gasteiz and Bilbao), Germany (Bremerhaven and Hannover), and France (Rennes and Brest).

AV_D7.5_CS2 macroalgal cultivation_Faroe Islands_Ecosystem Service valuation 2023

The dataset includes calculations for different ES provided by macroalgal cultivation with estimations from Norway and the Faroe Islands. Calculations are based on Wang et al. 2012 “Discharge of nutrient wastes from salmon farms: environmental effects, and potential for integrated multi-trophic aquaculture”. The dataset builds on dataset for this case study for AquaVitae deliverables D6.2 quantification of ES and D7.4 Socio-economic impact assessment of CSs of new/emerging LTS aquaculture, which in turn built on dataset for D7.3 Profitability analyses. For Deliverable D7.5 it is enhanced with data on ecosystem services related to kelp reforestation and their valuation.

CS8 Native and non-native Oyster cultivation - Ecosystem service valuation in Brazil 2023

This dataset relies on data collect from D6.2, Agricultural Research and Rural Extension Company of Santa Catarina State (EPAGRI) and available literature. The purpose is to monetarily valuate the ecosystem services and disservices generated by oyster aquaculture in Southern Brazil. Data is presented in terms of productivity (t/year), nutrient retention and emission (kg/t) and economic value (€/year).

Bumblebees' food preferences are jointly shaped by rapid valuation of nectar sugar concentration and viscosity

Animals are often assumed to follow a strategy of energy maximisation, and therefore should evaluate feeding options based on energy intake rates. Contrastingly, rhesus macaque's learned food preferences are based on sensory properties, e.g. sweetness and resistance, regardless of energy differences. Here, we show that nectar sugar concentration (sweetness) and nectar viscosity (resistance) drive preferences of bumblebees, classical models for economic and foraging decision-making. Using a tasteless/odourless biopolymer (tylose), we created feeding options that differed in sweetness and resistance, properties that affect energy intake rate and can be immediately sensed. When energy intake rates were similar, bumblebees developed preferences based on sweetness and resistance. When energy intake rates were different but sweetness and resistance were balanced against each other, bees developed no preferences. Decision dynamics during training indicated that bumblebees simultaneously evaluated sweetness and resistance to make decisions quickly (in seconds). These results indicate that bumblebees' food preferences are jointly affected by the immediate sensation of nectar sweetness and resistance as positively and negatively reinforcing properties, respectively, irrespective of energy intake rate. From these findings we propose that subjective valuations of sensory food properties should be considered as constraints in models of foraging behaviour.
