Lambda-cyhalothrin-driven mortality of pest control agents - IRAC insecticide-coated glass vials test

The dataset contains 24 h mortality data from the IRAC-recognised insecticide-coated glass vials test on lambda-cyhalothrin toxicity to pest control agents tested in 5 European countries. Individuals of each tested species were exposed to five insecticide doses, relative to the Recommended Field Dose (RFD), namely 0.8% RFD, 4% RFD, 20% RFD, 100% RFD, and 200% RFD, plus acetone control. RFD was assumed at 7.5 g a.i./ha as this value is most relevant to the crops covered by the study. The dataset was used to generate Species Sensitivity Distributions published in the article "Species Sensitivity Distribution (SSD) profiles towards λ-cyhalothrin for key ecosystem service provider (ESP) species across five European countries representing different pedoclimatic zones", STOTEN 2024, which should be quoted if the data are used for any purpose: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.scitotenv.2024.176412.

The research was funded by the European Union Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Program “EcoStack” (grant agreement no. 773554).

Processed BCO data for Vial et al. 2023

The folder contains yearly netCDF files with the hourly-averaged cloud radar data from the Barbados Cloud Observatory (BCO) used in Vial, Albright, Vogel, Musat, Bony (2023), Cloud transition across the daily cycle illuminates model responses of trade cumuli to warming, PNAS. Also provided is the file ‘radar_diurnalCMIP_files_version.txt’, which contains information about the version of the raw data used to create the processed files.

The raw data can be accessed through the BCO intake catalog, which can be accesses using Python and intake e.g. as follows:

from intake import open_catalog
cat = open_catalog("https://bco.pages.gwdg.de/intake/catalog.yaml")
ds = cat.Level_1.Backscatter_MBR2.to_dask()
ds.SNR.sel(time="2022-08-01", range=slice(0, 5000)).T.plot(robust=True)

Is switchgrass good for carbon savings? Long-term results in marginal land Running title: Switchgrass SOC storage capacity in marginal land Walter Zegada-Lizarazu 1, Federica Zanetti 1, Nicola Di Virgilio 2, Andrea Monti 1 1Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences, University of Bologna, Viale G. Fanin 44 – 40127, Bologna, Italy; 2CNR, Institute for the BioEcononomy, National Research Council of Italy, Via P Gobetti 101, I-40129 Bologna, Italy

Growing switchgrass in marginal land can be a valuable option to mitigate the risk of agricultural land abandonment whilst storing a significant amount of soil C. It was found a significant increase in SOC in a 13-years period. A significant positive correlation was observed between the C derived from switchgrass and SOC gain (the estimated switchgrass derived C was 12.7 Mg C ha-1). The increased SOC along the field, however, was patchy, with the highest increments registered in the center of the field, while the lowest ones in the top and bottom of the hill.
