Toward a Human Centric and Carbon Neutral EPFL Campus

This dataset is composed of 3 zip files that are linked to the "Toward a Human Centric and Carbon Neutral EPFL Campus" project conducted at the Solar Energy and Building Physics Laboratory, EPFL, Switzerland. The study consists of several simulations, monitoring and tool development, conducted in the frame of the project. The campus of EPFL is analysed, to quantify the impact of mitigation and adaptation strategies within the built environment, in current and future climatic conditions. As previously defined, the dataset is composed of 3 zip files: i) BC Building, ii) Cosandey Square and iii) Virtual Campus.

In the BC Building zip file, infrared pictures and data concerning a monitoring campaign conducted during summer 2018 can be found. The cooling potential of the waterwall, located next to the building, is monitored, and its effect on the prevailing microclimatic conditions are analysed. All data recorded should be processed carefully before using them, as they are composed of indoor and outdoor monitoring. Please, contact us before using the data, please refers to the Conditions of Use.

In the Cosandey Square zip file, four CitySim models are provided, with and without the greening covering (trees). The CitySim data are created for a typical meteorological year (TMY) and for 2100, according to the meteorological data provided by the IPCC.

In the Virtual Campus zip folder, files for a geographical information system can be found. All the buildings on the EPFL campus as well as the ground coverage are included. Multiple simulation outputs files (e.g. CO2 emissions, energy demand for the typical meteorological year, for 2050 and with a renovation scenario) are also available. Finally, simulated microclimatic data from the Canopy Interface Model are provided, focusing on several adaptation strategies.

Visualization
You can visualize some of these data on the LESO-PB website.
