STORM graffiti/tagging detection dataset
<p>This object detection dataset was created by University of West Attica, by collecting images containing at least one graffiti/tagging, using the camera of a smartphone and exploiting the STORM crowdsensing application. STORM (Safeguarding Cultural Heritage through Technical and Organisational Resources Management) is a HORIZON 2020 funded European Union Cultural Heritage project that aims at the protection of Cultural Heritage through a combination of technical and organizational resources (http://www.storm-project.eu). The included images display structures, such as walls, pavements, benches and statues that are located in the municipality of Athens and its suburbs. The dataset consists of 1022 images with graffiti/tagging annotations and are split into 80% (813 images) for training and validation and 20% (209 images) for testing.</p>

The Mother's Day solar storm of 11 May 2024 and its effect on Earth's radiation belts.
<p>The dataset presneted here are used in "The Mother’s Day solar storm of 11 May 2024 and its effect on<br>Earth’s radiation belts." <br><br>EPT files (ept_protons_x and ept_electrons_x) contain the differential flux observed by the energetic particle telescope (EPT) averaged in L-time bins (0.25L - 6 hours) from May 1st 2024 to June 30th 2024, where L is the McIlwain parameter. This averages are performed for each energy chanel of the EPT (6 for electrons and 10 for protons). Differential fluxes are given in [(s cm² sr MeV)^-1].</p> <p>Similar to the EPT files, the POES files contain electrons and proton fluxes from the MEPED instrument on board MetOp3 averaged on the same grid as the EPT fluxes. In this case proton fluxes are differential fluxes in units of [(s cm² sr keV)^-1] whereas electron fluxes are integral fluxes in units of [(s cm² sr)^-1].</p> <p>GOES file contains the integral proton fluxes observed by GOES from May 1st to June 30th 2024. Proton fluxes are given in [(s cm²)^-1].</p> <p>The nmdb file contains the count rates from ground based neutron monitors retrieved from the neutron monitor database.</p> <p>Note that PROBA-V/EPT data are publicly available on the Space Situational Awareness website of ESA https://swe.ssa.esa.int/space-radiation. Bark-scratching of storm-felled trees preserves biodiversity at lower economic costs compared to debarking
<p>The abundance data presented here focus on saproxylic beetles collected over two years on trees in a mountain forest ecosystem (analysed and discussed in Thorn et al. <a href="https://esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/ecm.1343#ecm1343-bib-0043">2016</a>). The design consists of 12 plots each composed of three experimentally felled trees, resulting in a total of 36 experimental felled trees. In each plot, the bark of one tree was completely removed, the bark of a second tree was only partially removed (i.e., bark-scratched), and the third tree served as a control. The design is thus composed of 12 replications of three different treatments (i.e., control, bark-scratched, and debarked). A total of 120 species of saproxylic beetles were trapped with emergence traps on felled trees (Thorn et al. <a href="https://esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/ecm.1343#ecm1343-bib-0043">2016</a>).</p>
WAACMX simulation of the 2022 SpaceX storm
<p>This dataset a simulation of the SpaceX storm event from the Whole Atmosphere Community Climate Model - eXtended (WACCM-X v. 2.1). It consists of the electron density, Joule heating, atomic and molecular oxygen concentration, and the Pedersen conductance from the 1 - 5 of February 2022.</p>
ASM-SS: The First Quasi-Global High Spatial Resolution Coastal Storm Surge Dataset Reconstructed from Tide Gauge Records
<p>The ASM-SS dataset is a high spatial resolution (every 10 km per node along the coastline), long-term (over 80 years from 1940 to 2020), quasi-global (within 45°S-45°N), hourly data-driven storm surge dataset. Each NetCDF file includes five parameters: longitude, latitude, nodes, time, and surge level. Longitude and latitude are the location information of nodes in degree; the unit of time is accumulated hours since 1900-01-01 00:00:00; surge levels are given in meters. Users can use longitude, latitude, and time as keywords to select surge levels at nodes of interest within a target period. </p>
Supplemental information for: Annual tropical-rainforest productivity through two decades: Complex responses to climatic factors, CO2 and storm damage
<p>The supplemental files in this deposition contribute additional information useful for understanding the analyses in the associated manuscript. Two files contain the annual (CARBONO Project measurement-year) data for productivity and for environmental conditions that were analyzed in the paper. The annual productivity metrics were derived from the CARBONO Project litterfall and tree-growth data that were provided and documented in prior Dryad data depositions. A third file in this deposition provides the daily data underlying the analyzed meteorological factors. The fourth file lists the standardized set of 66 test models that were used to test each of the five productivity metrics for environmental responses. The fifth file is an auxiliary table documenting tree mortality by year. The included README file documents the information in these files.</p>

Storm-scale and fine-scale boundary layer structures of tropical cyclones simulated with the WRF-LES framework

The CSIP pilot project was conducted in July 2004 centred around the Chilbolton radar facility where there is a 25 metre radar dish with two of the most sophisticated meteorological radars in the world. The pilot project utilised many of the instruments and facilities from the NCAS Universities' Facility for Atmospheric Measurement (UFAM) including a Cessna aircraft, wind profiler, Doppler lidar, sodar and automatic weather stations and scientists from the universities of Aberystwyth, Leeds, Reading, Salford, Essex, Bath and UMIST as well also from the Met Office.
