<p><span>LandKlif local plot information observed on site during vegetation survey 2019, including vegetation height, slope, aspect, proximity to hedge / forest edge / water, intensity of use (only for meadows), and further information on plot habitat.</span></p> <p><span>LandKlif is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts within the Bavarian Climate Research Network (bayklif). Within the five year funding period of bayklif, five interdisciplinary senior research associations and five junior research groups are be financed with a total sum of 18 million Euro. LandKliF, as one of the five interdisciplinary senior research associations, addresses the effects of climate change on biodiversity and ecosystem services in semi-natural, agricultural and urban landscapes.</span></p>

<p>These are anonymized original data on 1351 European hospital nurses collected during the survey carried out within the project “Mental Health: focus on Retention of Healthcare Workers” (METEOR), funded by the European Union - European Health and Digital Executive Agency in 2020 as part of the 3rd EU Health Program <span> (Grant Agreement No: 101018310). </span>These data were analyzed in Maniscalco et al. Data from DIAMAS follow-up survey about funding practices
<p>The WP5 team of the DIAMAS project designed a follow-up survey to investigate the funding <br>practices of IPSPs more deeply. We examined the proportion of Diamond publishing within the <br>same IPSP by output type, and the capability to plan for the future. We also enquired about <br>spending priorities, reasons for fundraising and the amount of work required, and asked about <br>views on institutional publishing funding.</p> <p><br>The project sent the follow-up survey to respondents of the DIAMAS survey (metadata and <br>aggregated data available <a href="../records/10590503">here</a>) who agreed to be contacted. Emails used unique identifiers, <br>enabling us to merge databases and easily recover information gathered from the first survey <br>for more advanced cross-analysis.</p> <p><br>This follow-up survey was open during the last two months of 2023 and successfully garnered <br>469 answers. After cleaning (mainly deleting blank surveys and duplicates), we retained 383 <br>relevant answers, a response rate of 56%.</p>

Plant Atlas 2020 — British and Irish vascular plant and charophyte 10 x 10 km grid square locations, subdivided by survey period, up to 2019
<p><span>This resource provides the data behind the 10 × 10 km grid square (hectad) British and Irish distribution maps, for 3,497 taxa, presented in both the Plant Atlas 2020 book and website (</span><a href="http://www.plantatlas2020.org"><span><span>www.plantatlas2020.org</span></span></a><span><span>), subdivided by time period<a><span>.</span></a> These are presence-only data, indicating where a taxon was reported from a hectad, within a given</span><span><span></span></span></span><span> multi-year period, up to 2019. These time periods cover the 20<sup>th</sup> Century, but also extend back to the earliest botanical records known for Britain and Ireland in the first period (pre-1930). These 10 km square presences are based on over 30 million records, collected mainly by volunteer recorders of the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland (BSBI) between 2000 and 2019, as well as previous nationwide surveys undertaken in the 1950s and 1990s.</span></p>

Survey data on people's forest use patterns and perceptions of border security measures in Białowieża Forest region, Poland
<p>A survey was conducted in June-July 2022 to obtain information about people's forest use patterns and opinions and feelings about border security measures (state of emergency, border zone closure, militarization) instituted in northeastern Poland starting in September 2021. Participants were informed that the survey was voluntary and anonymous. Participants were not obliged to respond to all questions and could stop the survey at any time. Survey completion and submission implied consent to participate. Participants had to be at least 18 years of age to take part in the survey. They had to be residents of the Białowieża Forest region. 100 persons participated in the survey. Of these 100 persons, 44 identified as local (born in the region). Data are coded and a key is provided. Some responses are aggregated and only responses to close-ended questions are shared, to prevent disclosure of potentially identifying information. </p>

DEM and associated kinematic GPS coordinates of September 2009 survey of the salar de Uyuni, Bolivia
<p>This dataset consists of two parts: 1) the post-processed kinematic GPS coordinates of a September 2009 survey of a 45 x 54 km region of the salar de Uyuni, Bolivia. 2) a digital elevation model (DEM) of the salar de Uyuni surface derived from those kinematic GPS data.</p> <p>Details of the survey design are identical to that from an earlier survey in 2002 and can be found in the manuscript, "Topography of the salar de Uyuni, Bolivia from kinematic GPS" (doi: 10.1111/j.1365-246X.2007.03604.x). The DEM is described in the manuscript "A Terrestrial Validation of ICESat Elevation Measurements and Implications for Gloval Reanalysis" (doi: 10.1109/TGRS.2019.2909739). The DEM was generated from fitting two-dimensional Fourier basis set with parameters: L_x = L_y = 70000 meters, m = n = 10. This results in a basis set with a nominal resolution of 7 km.</p> <p>The attached "salar_de_uyuni_2009_dem" files duplicate Figure 1 from the authors' "A terrestrial validation of ICESat elevation measurements and implications for global reanalyses," whose caption is: </p> <p>Landsat image of the salar de Uyuni, showing ICESat tracks 85, 241, 360 and 1320 (red) and the GPS-derived DEM from 2009 (color-coded with respect to mean elevation). The portion of each track plotted in Figure 2 is boxed in black. Total relief on the GPS DEM is less than 1 m over 50 km.</p>
UK creators' earnings survey 2020 processed data
<p>We have started to retrospectively harmonize the Music Creators Earnigs survey for the the Digital Music Observatory. The survey’s raw data is accessible on the website of the UKIPO <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/music-creators-earnings-in-the-digital-era">here</a>.</p> <p>Ex post harmonization will be limited, because of the following factors:</p> <ul> <li>The MCE survey did not use harmonized questions in many cases</li> <li>The MCE surveys answers do not cover a full range of possible answers</li> <li>The MCE survey does not appear to represent the UK artists and music professionals.</li> </ul> <p>Because of the bias of the survey, we did not include statistical indicators of the survey yet in our observatory, and we will make further processing steps in later versions of the data file.</p> <p>Nevertheless, because of the relatively large sample size (n=708) we believe that imporant comparisons can be made with our CEEMID surveys, and we can shed some light on the earnings distribution of UK artists, and the way they distribute and finance their recordings.</p>
Bicycle Mobility Data: Current Use and Future Potential. An International Survey of Domain Professionals
<p>Active mobility, especially cycling, is an essential building block for sustainable urban mobility. Public and private stakeholders are striving to improve conditions for cycling and subsequently increase its modal share. Data are regarded as key for different measures to become efficient and targeted. There is extensive evidence for an increasing amount of mobility data, availability of new data sources and potential usage scenarios for such data. However, little is known about the current use of these data in policy making, planning and related fields. To the best of our knowledge, it has not been investigated yet to which degree professionals in the broader field of cycling promotion benefit from an increasing amount of cycling-related data. Thus, we conducted a multi-lingual online survey among domain professionals and acquired data on their perspectives on current data availability, use and suitability as well as the potential they see for the use of cycling data in the future. In total, we received 325 complete responses from 32 countries, with the vast majority of 241 valid responses originating from Germany, Austria and Italy. Key findings are: 84% of domain professionals attribute high importance to data, and 89% state that they currently cannot or only partly solve their tasks with the data available to them. Results emphasize the need for making more and better suited data available to professionals in cycling-related positions, in both the private and public sector.</p> <p>Read the full publication: <a href="https://doi.org/10.3390/data6110121">https://doi.org/10.3390/data6110121 </a></p>

Survey Study about Motivation for Participants in Citizen Science Projects
<p>The survey study about motivation for participants in Citizen Science projects was designed within the ongoing H2020 project named <a href="https://actionproject.eu/">ACTION</a> (pArticipatory sCience Toolkit agaInst pollutiON). Volunteers participate to citizen science initiatives for multiple reasons: personal enjoyment, desire for improvement or achievement, establishment of personal relationships, care for the environment, etc.<br> Studying motivation and investigating the factors influencing people participation to citizen science projects is an essential aspect in the analysis of citizen science communities. TESS Network Motivation Survey
<p>The TESS Network motivation study was conducted within the ongoing H2020 project named <a href="https://actionproject.eu/">ACTION</a> (pArticipatory sCience Toolkit agaInst pollutiON) on citizen science. Volunteers participate to citizen science initiatives for multiple reasons: personal enjoyment, desire for improvement or achievement, establishment of personal relationships, care for the environment, etc.</p> <p>Studying motivation and investigating the factors influencing people participation to citizen science projects is an essential aspect in the analysis of citizen science communities. Understanding the reasons that foster people to engage can support the successful design and implementation of effective participant involvement tasks, as well as pave the way for long-term engagement.</p> <p>The goal of the study is to analyse the motivation to participate of a specific citizen science community focused on fighting light pollution: the network of around 120 hosts of the <a href="https://tess.stars4all.eu/">TESS photometers</a>. Volunteers of this network accepted to host and install sensors to monitor sky brightness in order to collect data for measuring the level of light pollution in many areas of the Earth.<br> The volunteers are very diverse: professional astronomers, amateur astronomers, light pollution fighters, astronomical outreach (museum, planetarium, dark sky association, etc.), astro-tourism actors, public administrations and others.</p> <p>The TESS Network Survey motivation study is part of the study about motivation in citizen science projects conducted within the ACTION project (<a href="https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5753092">https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5753092</a>). Walk Up Aniene Motivation Survey
<p>The Walk Up Aniene motivation study was conducted within the ongoing H2020 project named <a href="https://actionproject.eu/">ACTION</a> (pArticipatory sCience Toolkit agaInst pollutiON) on citizen science. Volunteers participate to citizen science initiatives for multiple reasons: personal enjoyment, desire for improvement or achievement, establishment of personal relationships, care for the environment, etc.<br> Studying motivation and investigating the factors influencing people participation to citizen science projects is an essential aspect in the analysis of citizen science communities. Understanding the reasons that foster people to engage can support the successful design and implementation of effective participant involvement tasks, as well as pave the way for long-term engagement.<br> The goal of the study is to analyse the motivation to participate of a specific citizen science community focused on fighting soil and water pollution in the Walk Up Aniene pilot supported by the ACTION project. The survey was designed and administered using the <a href="https://coney.cefriel.com/">Coney</a> toolkit.</p> <p>The research object adopts the <a href="https://www.researchobject.org/ro-crate/1.0/">RO-Crate</a> specification.
