Size 9 in. by 51/4 in.; foll. 168. Fifteen lines in a page. A Commentary (by قوله ) on Ṭûsî’s Commentary to the first part, or Logic, of Ibn Sînâ’s الاشارات و التنبیهات. The author is not named. His preface begins:توجهنا الی جناب قدسک ; and he says subsequently: هذا اخوانی کتابی فی شرح الشرح بریئا من النقض سلیما(fol. 2) من الجرح علی وفق ملتمسکم و موجب مقترحکم وازنت فیه بین الشرحین الخ. The commentary commences: قال الشارح العلامة احسن الله اکرامه الحمدلله الذی وفقنا لافتتاح المقال بتحمیده لاحظ فی هذه الخطبة کلام الشیخ فی خطبته حیث حمد الله علی التوفیق اوّلا الخ The following date is given at the end: هذا آخر ما اردنا ایراده فی قسم المنطق من هذا الکتاب والله الموفق للصواب فرغ المصنف لیلة الاضحی لسنة ست و خمسین و سبعمائة From this it would appear that this is the first part of the commentary of <a href="http://worldcat.org/identities/lccn-nr91037727/">ḲUṬB AL-DÎN</a> Muḥammad b. Muḥammad RÂZÎ or TAḤTÂNÎ (d. A.H. 766; see Cat. Bodl. ii. 354), which, on account of its purpose, to decide the controversies of Ṭûsî and Râzî, is often called المحاکمات. It is mentioned by Ḥ. Kh. ii. 302, though his statements do not agree with the preface of this MS. The second part seems to be contained in Cat. Lugd. iii. 322. no. MCCCCLIV. The name of the Sultan (السلطان بن السلطان بن السلطان) to whom the commentary is dedicated, runs in the text of this MS. as in Flügel, l.c., but on the margin is added the name of ‘Aḍud al-dîn <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abu_Sa%27id_Mirza">Abu Sa’îd</a> Gurgan (the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timurid_dynasty">Timuride</a>, d. A.H. 873 [=1469 CE]) as a variant.1 Written in a not very clear Nasta’liḳ hand, with additions by the author on the margin. The end is wanting. B 164. Size 73/4 in. by 41/2 in.; foll. 111. Seventeen lines in a page. A Commentary (ممزوج) on the second and third parts, or Physics and Metaphysics, of Athîr al-dîn Mufaḍḍal b. ‘Omar Abharî’s2 (d. A.H. 663) الهدایة, by Kamâl al-dîn Ḥusain b. Mu’în al-dîn MAIBUDHÎ3 (also called Ḳâḍi Mîr). Cf. Ḥ. Kh. vi. 474, Cat. St. Petersb. 208, and Cat. Bodl. ii. 611. This commentary was printed at Clacutta and at Lakhnau. According to a note at the end of the latter edition, it was composed A. H. 880. The preface begins: الهدایة امر من لدیه، و کل شئ یعود الیه. The author mentions in it that this is his first work. The first part of the Hidâyah, on Logic, having become disused in his time, he excluded it from his present task. He also omitted those passages which had already been sufficiently explained by earlier commentators. The two parts (قسم) of the Hidâyah comprised in this commentary are subdivided into the following chapters (فنّ): Part II. الطبیعیات (foll. 5-71): 1. (fol. 6) فیما یعم الاجسام, in ten فصل; 2. (fol. 36) فی الفلکیات, in eight فصل; 3 (fol. 54) فی العنصریات, in six فصل,-Part III. الالهیات (foll. 72-104): 1. فی تقاسیم الوجود, in seven فصل; 2. (foll. 87) فی العلم بالصانع و صفاته, in ten فصل; 3. (foll. 97v.) فی الملائکة, in four فصل. To this follows an appendix (خاتمة, fol. 104) فی احوال النشأة الآخرة. Well written in Nasta’liḳ, with marginal notes, partly derived from the author. Dated Rajab, 1005. Foll. 1-17 have been supplied by a different hand. Bîj. Libr., A.H. 1023, from Molla Pâyandah. Another copy of MAULÂNÂZÂDAH’S Commentary on the Hidâyah, with glosses. Very neatly written. Of the end of the ninth century. The remaining pages are filled various extracts, in the same hand, viz. :- Foll. 231-232. An extract from the شرح العين ’ 1 on the halo and the rainbow. Fol.233. A short extract from the شرح المواقف Foll. 233v.-234. هذه رسالة من كلام سلطان العارفين ابو (!) يزيد البسطامی قدس سرّه The relation of a vision of ABU YAZÎD BISṬÂMÎ. Begins: نظرت الى ربّى بعين اليقين The Lower part of fol. 233 is destroyed. Fol. 235 An extract from an unknown work, on cause and effect. This is only the commencement of the work. The preface begins: الحمد لله العليم الحكيم . The author mentions in it that the rough draft of this work was made long before the present edition. Clearly written, often without diacritical points; in narrow columns, more than half the page remaining vacant; with some marginal notes by the author. The margin is injured by insects. Inscribed:حاشيه فقير سمّاك بر شرح هديه حكمت . Cf. Cat. 239, i.7(?)   2 Alias Ḥusainî.

Begins: قوله الفياض الوهاب اه اى الفياض الذي بمعنى الماء الكثير السيال الخ. The last note is: قوله كما توهمه كثيرون الخ. Irregularly written in Nasta’lîk. According to a note on the title-page (which begins من كُتُبِ من كتب الحروف), this copy was transcribed by Fakhr al-dîn ‘Alî b. Darwîsh Muḥammad b. ‘Abdallah, for his own use. Many additional notes by the author, and some by the transcriber, are on the margin. The preface begin: غاية تهذيب الكلام‘ بحمدالله العزيز العلام The first gloss is: قوله تهذيب المنطق و الكلام التهذيب التجريد و التنقيه الخ This MS. terminates abruptly, though a formal conclusion has been add to it, running as follows: تمت الحاشية الشريفة التى صنفها الفاضل الكامل المحقق المدقق مولانا عبدالله الترذی (اليزدى.r) الطاقى غفرالله تعالى له ولوالديه الخ Neatly written in Nasta’lîḳ, but rather incorrect; of the eleventh century. Injured by insects. This MS. was once in the possession of Bahâ al-dîn b. Muḥammad Laithî Jazâ’irî. Cat. 236, iii. 2, or 4.
