FIGURE 8. Dorsolateral and ventral aspects of two Phrynobatrachus cornutus specimens (a & b, c & d) from southern Cameroon, near Dja National Park. This species is morphologically the most similar one to P. mayokoensis sp. nov. The two species differ genetically and morphologically by e.g. by the distinct spiny eyelid tubercle in P. cornutus (particularly well visible in c; absent in P. mayokoensis sp. nov.), a slightly different ventral pattern (see inset in Fig. 6) and the presence of a distinct red spot on the thigh in P. mayokoensis sp. nov. (see Fig. 6).
