Johns Hopkins monument

Until recently, there once stood a large monument honoring the founder of Johns Hopkins University in front of Gilman Hall. Originally erected in 1935, the sculptor Hans Schuler depicted Hopkins in a bronze bust above two allegorical figures representing education and medicine. While the university reports the sculpture was moved to private storage in order to protect it amid campus construction, others question whether or not the decision to remove the monument is connected to controversy surrounding newly published research claiming Hopkins was a slave owner. For more information about the monument's removal, see this [Baltimore Sun article](https://www.baltimoresun.com/education/bs-md-johns-hopkins-monument-20210802-20210802-676p4ptky5fn3o57fzrae6yjvq-story.html). Funerary Monument of a Husband and Wife

2 CE, Carrara marble, Roman "This type of funerary monument, a framed grave relief, was most common during the era of the Roman Republic (509-27 BC). The realistic treatment of the eyes, the woman's hairstyle, with her long braids wound around her head, and the man's short beard indicate that this is a later example from the Hadrianic (AD 117-138) or Antonine (AD 138-192) period." Chukur fountain monument, Belgrade

The sculpture commemorates an incident from 1862. between a boy and Turkish soldiers. A memorial was erected in 1931, but in 2010. the sculpture was stolen, broken into 22 pieces, and sold as raw material to an illegal junk yard. Luckily, there existed a 3D scan, so the replica was able to be made. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Monument to the movement of student groups

The monument to student detachments is a sculptural composition dedicated to the fighters of student construction detachments and installed in November 2009 on the territory of Moscow State University. The place for the monument was also chosen not by chance - officially the first student detachment was formed in 1959 at the physics Department of Moscow State University. That summer, 339 students of the Faculty of Physics went to work in the state farms of the North Kazakhstan region. For this reason, the monument is installed on the site opposite the academic building of the Faculty of Physics of Moscow State University (Leninskie Gory, d. 1, p.2). The sculptural composition was made by Alexander Rukavishnikov. Photo made by DJI Phantom 4 Standart and Agisoft Metashape. ![](https://avatars.mds.yandex.net/get-altay/4054675/2a00000175dba3af4654fec6c8bc70a16601/XXL) Vladimir Vysotsky Student Songs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YMGNhTQ9r4 Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
