Kirk Corner Notch Arrowhead
3D-scan of a beautiful Kirk Corner Notch arrowhead, made from 38 images in 3df zephyr free. The material seems to be a fossilized coral, and is loaded with pockets of impurities, mainly quartz, making it by far the most colorful point in my collection. the only defect is the broken ear, and maybe the base (that might have been intentional on the original creator's part). 3D reconstruction made using 3df zephyr free, using 40 photos. Material is a bit more like limestone than flint, but it is much harder than most limestone. Bolen E-notch arrowhead
Made in 3df zephyr free with 48 photos. material is a pale sky-blue flint, and appears to have originated from the large core to left of the arrowhead. It is about 1 1/4" or 3.2 cm in length, and has a rather flattened cross-section. The arrowhead, core, and large flake were all found within a short distance of eachother, and lack a resemblance to any other artifacts I have found in the area, thus making them to appear to be related. all three were surface finds, over the span of almost a year. collection ID: p11. Palmer Corner-Notched
This small stone projectile point with a flat base and U-shaped notches is known as a Palmer Corner-Notched. Palmer points were used as spear or dart points and date to the Early Archaic period (c. 8000-7000 BC). Palmer points are closely related to the slightly later Kirk Corner-Notched point and are usually distinguished based on their smaller size and less pronounced tangs. This artifact was found at a multi-component site (31WA2199) in eastern Wake County, NC and is made from a metavolcanic stone commonly called rhyolite. It measures 2.3 cm long, 1.8 cm wide, and 0.55 cm thick. This model was constructed by David Cranford with 70 photos using the Agisoft Metashape software.
