Data from: Phormia regina allele report

<p>Genetic structure of blow fly (Diptera: Calliphoridae) populations has remained elusive regardless of high relatedness within wild-caught samples. The aims of this research were to determine if the implementation of a high-resolution spatiotemporal sampling design would reveal latent genetic structure among blow fly populations and to elucidate environmental impacts on structure. Adult female black blow flies, <em>Phormia regina </em>(Meigen), were collected from nine urban parks in Indiana, USA over three years. Fly gut DNA was genotyped at six microsatellite loci, with subsequent amplification and sequencing of vertebrate mitochondrial DNA from the same source. Flies were also screened for vertebrate fecal metabolites. Latent clustering revealed four genetic groups which were interpreted as 11 distinct temporal populations. An analysis of molecular variance of temporal populations revealed stronger genetic differentiation (F<sub>ST</sub> = 0.048, F'<sub>ST</sub> = 0.664) relative to geographic populations (F<sub>ST</sub> = 0.009, F'<sub>ST</sub> = 0.241). Mean kinship within temporal populations was higher than expected in a panmictic population (<em>R </em>= 0.032 ± 0.088). Weather conditions (i.e., wind speed, precipitation, humidity, temperature) and vertebrate resource availability in the local environment significantly impacted the observed genetics of <em>P. regina. </em>Twenty-five vertebrate species were detected from flies, and 16% of flies collected in 2016 – 2017 tested positive for vertebrate feces, suggesting many varied resources are important for maintaining high gene flow among geographic populations. A complex interplay between biotic and abiotic factors, as well as the flies' own extensive dispersal abilities, seems to drive the strong temporal structure of this species in the Midwestern US.</p>

Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) pre-assessment report data 2009-2019

<p>An MSC pre-assessment is an optional rapid high-level audit against the MSC Fisheries Standard. This data set contains 77 publicly available pre-assessments from the years 2009 to 2019. Each report has been broken down to the Unit of Assessment level for the species, gear and area targeted, client and assessor information, the associated MSC certified fisheries where relevant, and the scoring assessment to the relevant Performance Indicator level.</p> <p>This data set does NOT include all the pre-assessments ever conducted. Pre-assessments conducted confidentially are not included and reports published after 2016 were not required for the purposes of the project so most were excluded from data collection. However, some reports were collected before the project had been defined and so we have included those that were produced after 2016 in this dataset even though they were not used in the study, in case they could be of use to others. &nbsp;</p> <p>This information was collected for the purposes of a project run internally at the MSC and was accepted for publication in Fish and Fisheries (Rasal et al. in prep). The reports were sourced from various websites across the internet but a large proportion came from Fishery Progress and are shared with permission from Fishery Progress. Further details for these pre-assessments can be found at https://fisheryprogress.org/. Pre-assessment reports that were shared confidentially with the MSC directly by the client fisheries, totalling 182 reports, are not included in this public dataset. All MSC certification scores are available for each certified fishery in their Public Certification Reports, which are publicly available at https://fisheries.msc.org/en/fisheries/.</p> <p>The downloadable excel document contains a sheet with descriptions of the column headers, and another sheet with the dataset contained.</p> <p>Disclaimer:</p> <p><span>This data has been manually collated by MSC from pre-assessment reports prepared by third party assessors. MSC carries out data assurance to a standard that is fit for the purpose the information is used for, including being complete, accurate and as up to date as possible. &nbsp;If accuracy is paramount to a finite resolution, receivers are asked to validate data against publicly available pre-assessment reports. The MSC is not responsible for any issues arising to any parties as a result of any information provided therein.</span></p>

MarTREC Data Set for Report: Developing and Applying an Analysis Methodology to Identify Flow Generation Influences between Vessel and Truck Shipments

<p>Truck activity is logically connected to vessel activity at a port. In turn, vessel activity is also influenced by truck shipments. Although one might expect a direct and straightforward relation between these two types of shipments, that is rarely the case. For instance, many maritime containers carry consolidated cargos that have multiple and different final destinations. Also, different truck capacities, customs clearance and regulations play a critical role in determining the actual relation between these two types of shipments. This project aims at shedding light on the nuances of maritime and roadway flow relations by quantitatively analyzing the linkages between these two types of shipments.</p> <p>The study performed a statistical analysis to determine the probability distributions of vessel and truck activity, and then explore the correlation of each activity with the other. The analysis yielded coefficients that function as explanatory values for specific truck flows.</p> <p>The ultimate purpose of this study is to provide a clearer and quantitative understanding of the relationship between maritime and truck shipments, and by doing so, to provide tools to develop a system for managing trucks that maximizes efficiency for industry, while minimizing industry&rsquo;s negative impacts on a region.</p> <p>For this purpose, the study selected the Port Freeport as a case study.</p>
