Mental health and alcohol use among patients attending a post-COVID-19 follow-up clinic: A cohort study.

<p>Study dataset</p> <p>Abstract</p> <p><strong>Background:</strong>&nbsp;Ongoing mental health problems following COVID-19 infection warrant greater examination. This study aimed to investigate psychiatric symptoms and problematic alcohol use among Long COVID patients.<br> <br> <strong>Methods:&nbsp;</strong>The study was conducted at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital&rsquo;s post-COVID-19 follow-up clinic in Dublin, Ireland. A prospective cohort study design was used encompassing assessment of patients&rsquo; outcomes at 2-4 months following an initial clinic visit (Time 1), and 7&ndash;14-month follow-up (Time 2). Outcomes regarding participants&rsquo; demographics, acute COVID-19 healthcare use, mental health, and alcohol use were examined.<br> <br> <strong>Results:&nbsp;</strong>The baseline sample&rsquo;s (n = 153) median age = 43.5yrs (females = 105 (68.6%)). Sixty-seven of 153 patients (43.8%) were admitted to hospital with COVID-19, 9/67 (13.4%) were admitted to ICU, and 17/67 (25.4%) were readmitted to hospital following an initial COVID-19 stay. Sixteen of 67 (23.9%) visited a GP within seven days of hospital discharge, and 26/67 (38.8%) did so within 30 days. Seventeen of 153 participants (11.1%) had a pre-existing affective disorder. The prevalence of clinical range depression, anxiety, and PTSD scores at Time 1 and Time 2 (n = 93) ranged from 12.9% (Time 1 anxiety) to 22.6% (Time 1 PTSD). No statistically significant differences were observed between Time 1 and Time 2 depression, anxiety, and PTSD scores. Problematic alcohol use was common at Time 1 (45.5%) and significantly more so at Time 2 (71.8%). Clinical range depression, anxiety, and PTSD scores were significantly more frequent among acute COVID-19 hospital admission and GP attendance (30 days) participants, as well as among participants with lengthy ICU stays, and those with a previous affective disorder diagnosis.<br> <br> <strong>Conclusions:&nbsp;</strong>Ongoing psychiatric symptoms and problematic alcohol use in Long COVID populations are a concern and these issues may be more common among individuals with severe acute COVID-19 infection and /or pre-existing mental illness.</p>

Survey on the Effects of COVID-19 on the Wellbeing of Mexico City Households (ENCOVID- 19 CDMX – DECEMBER 2020)

<p>Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, the ENCOVID-19 CDMX provides information on the well-being of Mexico City households in four main domains: labor, income, mental health, and food insecurity. It offers timely information to understand the social consequences of the pandemic and the lockdown measures. It is a cross-sectional telephone survey that, in addition to the four main domains and a set of COVID19-related questions, includes key indicators to capture the impact of the pandemic on issues like education, social programs, and crime. This is the second dataset of the project, corresponding to December 2020, collected eight months after the lockdown began in Mexico. Data collection was performed from November 29 to December 10, 2020.</p>

Supplementary Materials for Respiratory Syncytial Virus Genetic Diversity and Lineage Changes in Ireland pre- and post-COVID-19 pandemic

<p><span>The datasets presented here are the list of publicly available reference sequences used in NextClade (</span><a href="https://github.com/rsv-lineages"><span>https://github.com/rsv-lineages</span></a><span>) to provide the lineage classification of samples and used as reference for analysis of Irish RSV sequences (Supplementary Table 1), the list of sequenced Human respiratory syncytial viruses (RSV) in the Republic of Ireland during the period 2015-2024 (Supplementary Table 2) and the details of sequences downloaded from GISAID corresponding to European RSV sequences for the same period of time.</span></p> <p><span>&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span>Description of the data and file structure</span></p> <p><span>The files in this dataset were formatted in Microsoft Excel 2019 to allow easy access and manipulation of the data. The data corresponds to details on the sequences used in the analysis of RSV in Europe during the 2015-2024 period. Raw Data for the article: COVID-19 safety measures at the Radiology Unit of a Transplant Institute: the non-COVID-19 patient's confidence with safety procedures

<p><strong>Purpose:&nbsp;</strong>To support the wellbeing of both patients and their families, our aim was to investigate the satisfaction of non-COVID in- and out-patients regarding safety measures implemented at our radiology unit of a transplant institute against COVID infection.</p> <p><strong>Materials and methods:&nbsp;</strong>Over a five-month period, adult patients&#39; feedback was obtained by a questionnaire on the fear of contracting COVID-19 during a radiology examination, the perceived delay in treatment, and the following safety measures implemented: modified schedules to limit the number of patients in the waiting area and to maximize social distancing; assistance by staff when visitors were not admitted; cleaning and disinfection of machines; mask wearing and hand hygiene of staff; and staff advice on hand hygiene and infection control precautions.</p> <p><strong>Results:&nbsp;</strong>Over a five-month period, our preliminary results (387 patients) showed general patient satisfaction (99.1%) with safety measures applied at our radiology unit. Patients were satisfied with distancing and assistance by staff (100%), cleaning and disinfection (91%), mask wearing and hand hygiene of the staff (97%), and staff advice (94%). There was some criticism of the perceived delay in treatment (7.3%) and in the scheduling of the waiting list (5.4%), with 5.4% fearing contracting the virus. Patients&#39; awareness of safety measures and confidence in the hospital preparedness policy was perceived by all interviewers, and 100% appreciated being questioned.</p> <p><strong>Conclusion:&nbsp;</strong>The feedback given by the non-COVID patient helps to measure the quality in health care, to improve the quality service, and to protect and satisfy more vulnerable patients, also during the COVID-19 pandemic.</p>
