A large Commentary ( by قوله ) on the Kâfiyah, in which reference is made to Ibn Ḥâjib׳s own commentary on that work. 1 The author is not ascertained; perhaps he is NAJM AL-DÎN SA’ÎD ‘AJAMÎ, who, according to <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kashf_al-Zunun">Ḥ. Kh.</a> v. 9, wrote a voluminous commentary on that of the author. There are also cited in this work, Ibn Ḥâjib׳s commentary on his ارجوزة ( that is , the versification of the Kâfiyah, mentioned in Ḥ. Kh. v. 7), and on المنظومة ( which probably means the same work) , but most frequently his commentary on Zamakhsharî’s Mufaṣṣal 2 ( قال المصنف فى شرح المفصل ) . Rukn al-dîn Ḥadîthî, who wrote a commentary on the Kâfiyah,3 Zanjânî (d. A.H. 655), Ibn Mâlik (d. A.H. 672), and Jârabârdî (d. A.H. 746), are also quoted. A good copy, written in a current hand, of the eighth century. Emended and collated with another MS. A few leaves are wanting both at the beginning and end. The first gloss is: قوله الكلام ما تضمن [ كلمتين بالاسناد 1] يعنى الكلام اللفظ الذى يتضمن كلمتين بالاسناد اللفظ بمثابة الجنس . The book is very much damaged by white-ants. The author wrote it A.H. 824 [= 1424-25], at Nahrwâlah, in Gujarât [= mod. Patan]. Begins: الحمد لله الذى منح من لسان العرب الايادى الحسنة ، و جعله كنز الفصاحة فهو مغنى اللبيب عما سواه من الالسنة This seems to be the second of the three commentaries described by <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kashf_al-Zunun">Ḥ. Kh. </a>v. 657. The author’s date runs as follows: و كان تاليف هذا الشرح المشتمل على ثلاث مجلّدات بشهر (!) نهروالةَ من الكجرات الهنديّة فى خمسة اشهر و اربعة عشر يوما نجز فيها تاليفه و كتابته فى هذه المبيّضة و اوّل هذه المدّة يوم الخميس اوّل يوم من شهر ربيع الاول سنة اربع و عشرين و ثمان مائة وآخرها يوم الخميس ايضا الرابع عشر من شعبان المكرّم من هذه السنة Plainly written by two hands. Dated Friday, 4th Rabî’ I., 849 [=10 June 1445]. A lacuna on fol. 2 comprises the greater part of the preface. <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bijapur_Collection">Bîj. Conclusion: قال المولف خار الله له و لطف به قد اتينا على ما اردنا جمعه من الشرح و الاعراب و استوفينا 1 ما وعد به فى اول الكتاب فجاء شرحا مكمل المقاصد مسهل المعانى و الفوائد ينتفع به البادى و يستحسنه الشادى موافقا لما رويته موفيا بما اردت من اختصاره و قصدته فالحمد لله على ما منح من التيسير و التسهيل و فتح من التبصير و التكميل فهو حسبى و نعم الوكيل. Written in a current hand, the last few foll. different from the rest. The text and the commentary not distinguished in the latter portion. Emended and collated with another MS. A note to the effect, that “Ibn Ḥajar” made this copy from Ramaḍân to 1st Shawwâl, at Makkah, which has been added at the end, at three different times, is hardly trustworthy. It is a correct copy, which was probably made in Arabia, in the ninth or tenth century. No title found. The author calls himself حسين بن (الحسن1) الملقّب بجمال الابرزى, and dedicates his work to Abu’l -fawâris Shâh Shujâ’ (the Muẓaffaride, of Fârs, d. A.H. 788). Begins: الحمد لله الذى نوّر العالَمين بانوار علوم العالِمين .... اما بعد فقد شاع بين ( 2 . fol ) اهل العلم منظومات فيها من جهة الاعراب تشكيكات الخ.
