Characterization of metallurgical ceramics from the Late Bronze Age settlement of Enkomi, Cyprus through the application of SEM-EDS

<p>The current dataset comprises the chemical analysis of the Late Bronze Age archaeometallurgical ceramic assemblage discovered in Area III at Enkomi, Cyprus. Through the application of SEM-EDS, we have determined that these ceramics were specifically utilized for copper-based secondary metallurgical activities. This project marks the first comprehensive study of technical ceramics within Cypriot archaeometallurgy, offering significant insights into the organization of copper production on the island during the 2nd millennium BCE. Moreover, our findings underscore the importance of the dataset providing valuable information for further research and comparative analyses aimed at understanding the various stages of the copper production sequence in Cyprus as evidenced by metallurgical ceramic assemblages. The dataset was created as part of the first author's doctoral research.</p>

Late Bronze Age, Yetholm Shield

Culture: [Bronze Age](http://n2t.net/ark:/99152/p0ff3dtkhrj). Material: Bronze Diam. 63.8cm Accession No: HCA 457 Current Location: [The Hunt Museum](https://www.huntmuseum.com/), [Limerick](https://www.geonames.org/7778675/limerick-city.html). Circular, Yetholm type [shield](http://vocab.getty.edu/page/aat/300036869) of thin sheet-bronze, beaten to an even thickness of 0.5mm. Decorated with 11 concentric repoussé ribs and 11 rows of low hemispherical bosses with a hollow, rounded conical central boss. The rim is rolled over. Six tears and one perforation represent damage from the rear and front. It is unlikely that this object was ever used in combat. Yetholm shields have been found in England (15), Scotland (9), Wales (2) and Ireland (2). Late Bronze Age vessel

Late Bronze Age vessel (17—12 century BC). Found in the Srubnaya culture burial dug into the long tumuli. The vessel heigh is 23 cm, the bottom diameter — 12.5 cm. Ornamentation by corded stamp. Раскопки курганного могильника № 2435 в Пологовском районе Запорожской области. Работы проводила Археологическая экспедиция Бердянского государственного педагогического университета под руководством к.и.н. Валентины Папановой в 2019 году. Горшок принадлежит бережнёвско-маевской срубной культуре (XVII—XII век до н.э.) Асимметрический горшок с плоским дном и слегка отогнутым венчиком. Под венчиком — валик с косыми насечками. Орнамент на фризе (треугольники) нанесен шнуровым штампом. Внешняя поверхность гладкая. На дне сосуда — пригар. Он найден в одном из многочисленных погребений под курганом у с. Воскресенка.
