Improved small-angle x-ray scattering of nanoparticle self-assembly using a cell with a flat liquid surface
<p>One important way of forming nanostructures entails the assembly of nanoparticle (NP) monolayers at a liquid surface. Probing this assembly of 11.8-nm-diameter iron oxide NPs by small-angle x-ray scattering (SAXS) is studied using cells with walls at angles designed to significantly reduce the size of the meniscus. This enables the collection of much larger signals in the SAXS images of ordered arrays of NPs at liquid/gas interfaces, as is needed for kinetics studies and x-ray exposure minimization, along with the observation of extremely high degrees of order. Meniscus flattening and improved signal collection are demonstrated for the assembly of ordered arrays of iron oxide NP monolayers at a diethylene glycol surface.</p>

raw and processed X-ray scattering datasets for: "Entering a New Dimension in Powder Processing for Advanced Ceramics Shaping"
<p>This dataset is a complete set of raw, processed and analyzed data, associated with the manuscript mentioned in the title. </p> <p>Data is stored in HDF5 containers following the NeXus structure definitions. Data is in absolute units, and with traceable scattering and intensity values following our "MOUSE" methodology, described in <a href="https://dx.doi.org/10.1088/1748-0221/16/06/P06034">10.1088/1748-0221/16/06/P06034</a> Data on the samples as well as backgrounds have been included as well as the processing sequence and -values. Data has been processed using the <a href="https://dx.doi.org/10.1107/S1600576717004708">DAWN software package</a>. </p> <p>All associated metadata and processing history has been added. Particle size distribution analyses using McSAS are included as well. </p> <p>The samples consisted of a 4.2 mass% dispersion of yttria-stabilized zirconia nanoparticles in a cross-linked matrix. The measurements show a good dispersion with minimal agglomeration. The wide-angle region shows diffraction information consistent with zirconia. </p>

<p>This dataset contains the processed and analysed small-angle X-ray scattering data associated with all samples from the publications "Bio-SAXS of Single-Stranded DNA-Binding Proteins: Radiation Protection by the Compatible Solute Ectoine" (<a href="https://doi.org/10.1039/D2CP05053F">https://doi.org/10.1039/D2CP05053F</a>)</p> <p>Files associated with McSAS3 analyses are included, alongside the relevant SAXS data, with datasets labelled in accordance to the protein (G5P), its concentration (1, 2 or 4 mg/mL), and if Ectoine is present (Ect) or absent (Pure). RNA 3D structure modeling by fragment assembly with Small Angle X-ray Scattering restraints
<p>Structure determination is a key step in the functional characterization of many non-coding RNA molecules. High-resolution RNA 3D structure determination efforts, however, are not keeping up with the pace of discovery of new non-coding RNA sequences. This increases the importance of computational approaches and low-resolution experimental data, such as from the Small Angle X-ray Scattering experiments. We present RNA Masonry, a computer program and a web service for a fully automated modeling of RNA 3D structures. It assemblies RNA fragments into geometrically plausible models that meet user-provided secondary structure constraints, restraints on tertiary contacts and Small Angle X-ray Scattering data. We illustrate the method description with detailed benchmarks and its application to structural studies of viral RNAs with SAXS restraints.</p>

<p>This dataset is a complete set of raw, processed and analyzed data, complete with Jupiter notebooks, associated with the manuscript mentioned in the title. </p> <p>In the manuscript, we provide a ``systems architecture''-like overview and detailed discussions of the methodological and instrumental components that, together, comprise the "MOUSE" project (<strong>M</strong>ethodology <strong>O</strong>ptimization for <strong>U</strong>ltrafine <strong>S</strong>tructure <strong>E</strong>xploration). Through this project, we aim to provide a comprehensive methodology for obtaining the highest quality X-ray scattering information (at small and wide angles) from measurements on materials science samples. </p>

Data from: Microbeam two-dimensional small-angle X-ray scattering investigating the effects of reduced graphene oxide on local microstructures of high-density polyethylene/reduced graphene oxide nanocomposite bars
It has reported that the introduction of reduced graphene oxide (RGO) can enhance the crystallization and orientation of high density polyethylene (HDPE) matrix and thus improve the mechanical properties of HDPE/RGO nanocomposites. Herein, the local microstructures and orientations in different regions of HDPE/RGO bars with varied RGO contents were further explored by two dimensional small angle X-ray scattering (2D SAXS) using a microbeam technique. It is unveiled that the orientation orderings of every positions are all intensified with increasing RGO amount, and of particular interest is the observation of the quite slight change of the ordering degrees in diverse zones of HDPE/RGO nanocomposite bars, implicating that RGO imposes a uniform enhancing effect upon HDPE matrix within different areas and consequently reflects an effective increase of mechanical properties of HDPE/RGO nanocomposites.
