Deezer Podcast Dataset for Topic Modeling
<p>We release a new dataset consisting of podcast metadata (title and description) for 29 539 shows. This dataset can be used to reproduce the experiments from the article <em>Topic Modeling on Podcast Short-Text Metadata</em> accepted at the <a href="https://ecir2022.org">ECIR 2022</a> conference.</p> <p>More information about this data and how it should be used in experiments can be found in our paper and <a href="https://github.com/deezer/podcast-topic-modeling">GitHub repository</a>.</p> <p>Please cite our paper if you use the code or data.</p>
MERICS China Podcast: Finding a European answer to the China-Russia partnership, with Alice Ekman and Helena Legarda
<p>Russia’s President Vladimir Putin is set to visit Beijing on May 15 and 16 to meet with China’s leader Xi Jinping. This will be his first foreign trip after his reinauguration on May 7. The meeting will be another chance for the two leaders to emphasize how important and close the “no limits” partnership of Russia and China is. In this episode of the MERICS China Podcast, we look at the implications of the Sino-Russian relationship for the European Union, in particular due the ongoing invasion of Ukraine and their opposition to and undermining of the existing global order.</p> <p><strong>Johannes Heller-John</strong> is joined by <strong>Alice Ekman</strong>, Senior Analyst in charge of the Asia portfolio at the European Union Institute for Security Studies in Paris and <strong>Helena Legarda</strong>, Lead Analyst at MERICS. <p>Ahead of the European Parliament election on June 6-9, 2024, this episode looks at the role of the European Parliament in EU-China relations and the possible impact of the election results on the European “de-risking” agenda among other topics. </p> <p><strong>Johannes Heller-John</strong> talks to <strong>Ivana Karásková</strong> and <strong>Grzegorz Stec</strong>. Ivana is a European China Policy Fellow at MERICS and the founder of MapInfluenCE and China Observers in Central and Eastern Europe (CHOICE) at the Association for International Affairs (AMO) in Prague. Grzegorz is the Head of the MERICS Brussels Office.</p> <p>Recently, Ivana co-authored two reports, one on <a href="https://www.amo.cz/en/foreign-electoral-interference-affecting-eu-democratic-processes/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">foreign electoral interference in the EU</a> and one on the <a href="https://www.amo.cz/en/from-the-fringes-to-the-forefront-how-extreme-parties-in-the-european-parliament-can-shape-eu-china-relations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">rise of fringe parties in the EP and their impact on EU-China relations</a>. <p>On February 24, 2022 Russia started a full-scale invasion of Ukraine – escalating a territorial conflict that has been simmering since the occupation of Crimea and the Donbas region in 2014. The Kremlin’s aims of a swift occupation of Ukraine did not materialize and after 12 months of aerial bombardments, civilian suffering and trench warfare, Ukraine is still defending its country and the West is still keeping up sanctions and support for Ukraine. </p> <p>This episode looks at China’s role in the conflict and its impact in China’s global standing and agency. <p>China has extended its High-Speed Rail network from about 9.000 to 42.000 km of tracks with a fleet of Chinese made trains running on it. The first fully domestically engineered passenger aircraft C919 has started its commercial service and on June 6, the first domestically built large cruise ship, has left Shanghai for sea trials. China is undoubtedly making rapid progress in air, sea and rail transportation.</p> <p>What are China’s aims and what challenges does it face on the way? And what does this mean for European industries? <p>Como técnica de coleta de dados, criamos um instrumento de pesquisa no software e aplicativo Evernote, o qual nos permitiu trabalhar com as seguintes informações: título e temporada do podcast; título, duração, número e data de publicação do episódio; host e convidado; local de gravação; sinopse, descrição e palavras-chave; referência do episódio no estilo bibliográfico ABNT; data e nome do responsável pela análise. Além dessas informações, registramos o total de downloads e reproduções do episódio na plataforma PodCloud, a URL do episódio na plataforma Podcastics, a imagem de capa do episódio e, ainda, um campo destinado a notas e observações.</p>
Estatísticas de downloads e reproduções de episódios de podcast na plataforma PodCloud
<p>O objeto de estudo trata-se de um podcast acadêmico lançado oficialmente no mês de agosto de 2019, como produto de uma dissertação de mestrado defendida em 2018 e posteriormente incorporado à rotina de atividades do setor de atendimento de uma biblioteca universitária. A etapa de testes da produção do podcast data do ano de 2018, na época hospedado na plataforma SoundCloud. No entanto, em 2019, a plataforma PodCloud foi a escolhida para a hospedagem do conteúdo e permitiu a administração do podcast até 2023, quando foi descontinuada no mês de julho deste ano.</p> <p><br> Com base na etnografia na podosfera, a primeira etapa do método deu-se quando planejamos a migração da plataforma de hospedagem de um podcast acadêmico, em virtude da descontinuidade da PodCloud no Brasil. Assim, houve a necessidade de explorar o podcast no intuito de salvaguardarmos as capturas de tela (print screen) do painel de controle (dashboard), o qual continha os temas abordados e as estatísticas de downloads e reproduções na plataforma PodCloud. O arquivo comprova o total de 11.852 downloads e reproduções alcançados pelo podcast em 2023.</p>

<p>Webarchivarissen en bibliothecarissen verzamelen bronnen die relevant kunnen zijn voor historici van de toekomst. Helaas is het lastig te voorspellen wat al morgen, straks over vijftig jaar of pas zelfs over honderd jaar als bron kan dienen of een historisch moment is geweest.
