High Field Terahertz Time-Domain Spectroscopy of Lactose Monohydrate
<p>High field terahertz spectroscopy measurements of lactose monohydrate are presented. It is found that the feature at 0.53 THz, relating to the translatory motion of the lactose molecules along the long axis of the unit cell, becomes saturated with an incident THz field strength of 26 kV/cm for a pure powdered lactose sample. We also obtain an estimate of the feature at 1.37 THz to become saturated with a THz field strength of 205 kV/cm. This nonlinear saturation indicates the potential of dynamically distorting the crystal structure at sufficiently high fields.</p>

Exploring Terahertz Spectral Characteristics of L-sorbose and D-melibiose in Solid and Liquid States (data)
<p>Saccharides are essential organic compounds that perform critical functions in sustaining life processes. As biomolecules, their vibrational frequencies predominantly fall in the terahertz (THz) range, making them amenable to analysis using THz techniques. This study selected L-sorbose and D-melibiose as representative examples of monosaccharides and polysaccharides, respectively, to decipher saccharide synthesis and degradation mechanisms during metabolic processes in living organisms. The spectral properties of these saccharides were measured using a THz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) system covering a frequency range of 0.1–2.0 THz, and their crystal structures were simulated using density functional theory (DFT). The experimental results demonstrated significant agreement with the simulation findings. In addition, the spectral properties of the two saccharides in solution were determined using microfluidic chip technology, thereby facilitating a comparison between the solid and aqueous states. We found that the absorption band changed in two states. The results demonstrate that the intramolecular and intermolecular interactions of the saccharides were weakened by the presence of water molecules, and the THz absorption spectrum of the same substance solution was found to be correlated with its concentration and temperature.</p>
Impact of gigahertz and terahertz transport regimes on spin propagation and conversion in the antiferromagnet IrMn
<p>Data for the publication "Impact of gigahertz and terahertz transport regimes on spin propagation and conversion in the antiferromagnet IrMn" published in Applied Physics Letters. The following datasets are provided: GHz and THz raw data as function of the IrMn thickness, THz raw data spectra of the Pt|AF|F sample set, GHz and THz charge currents for forward (N|AF|F) and reversly-grown (F|AF|N) trilayer samples for N= Pt, W and Ta with varying AF thickness as well as the frequency-dependence of the charge current in the THz regime. Moreover, the temporal dynamics of the spin current densities from IrMn thicknesses 0nm, 3nm and 6nm are supplied.</p>
