Vertical profiles of stable water isotopes and thermodynamic properties from research flights during the L-WAIVE field campaign in June 2019
<p>This datasets contains the measurements of stable water isotopes conducted during the Lacustrine-Water vApor Isotope inVentory Experiment (L-WAIVE) field campaign taking place in June 2019 in the Annecy valley in the French Alps (Chazette et al. 2021). The measurements were conducted using a Picarro laser spectrometer L2130-i that was installed on an ultralight aircraft. The Picarro measurements of atmospheric humidity are merged measurements of thermodynamic properties by a fast-response temperature and humidity probe (iMet XQ-2; see also Chazette et al. 2021) interpolated on 10s temporal resolution.</p> <p>The data is provided on a one file per flight. All variables are described in README.</p> <p>This dataset has been used in Thurnherr et al. (submitted) for a comparison study of stable water isotopes measurements from various platforms and COSMOiso model simulations.</p>

In addition to the single beached record, an individual was pulled from nearshore waters of the Tajura coast in 1996 and died in the rehabilitation facility of the Marine Biology Research Centre (MBRC) at Tajura, where it was subsequently taxidermied at the MBRC Museum (Hamza 2010). Capra's (1949) records were based on a report in "L'Idea Coloniale" for 2 May 1927 (Mongàr) and an unspecified specimen in the Museo Civico di Storia Naturale di Trieste (Sella). High-frequency sensor data collected by Stroud Water Research Center in a recovery reach of White Clay Creek site ID WCC017 from April through December 2018
High-frequency sensor data at 5-min intervals using a s::can®oxy::lizer IITM and Solinst level logger, an Apogee SQ-212 sensor, and an s::can® field spectrophotometer in a recovery reach at White Clay Creek from April through December 2018. These data were collected as part of a study focused on baseflow dynamics of DOC and nitrate in White Clay Creek, Stroud Water Research Center. The parameters in this data package are water temperature, dissolved oxygen, depth, Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR), dissolved oxygen concentration, dissolved organic carbon concentration (DOC) and nitrate concentration. Data are presented in two tables. All the parameters and table are further explained in the metadata.
High-frequency sensor turbidity data collected by Stroud Water Research Center in a meadow reach of White Clay Creek site ID WCC017 from January 2014 through May 2021
High-frequency sensor data from a Campbell Scientific OSB3 (every 5-minutes) in a recovery reach at White Clay Creek from January 2014 through May 2021. Funded by NSF and DEB as part of the LTREB grant to study the recovery of stream ecosystem structure and function during reforestation, Stroud Water Research Center. The parameter in this data package is turbidity. Data are presented in two tables which likely have significant overlap. The raw data table presents the data exactly as it was downloaded from the Aquarius Database. It is formatted as a "wide" human-readable table. Turbidity at White Clay Creek Site WCC017 since 2014 OSB3 presents only the data from the respective sensors. These tables are gap filled for intervals greater than 10 minutes and less than 24 hours, formatted as a "wide" human-readable table. All of the parameters and table are further explained in the metadata.
Caribou-Poker Creeks Research Watershed: Water and streambed temperature, 1994
Temperature sensors were installed in 1994 in the streambed at CPCRW; at depths of 0 cm (at the stream sediment surface, equivalent to water temperature [WT]), 10 cm, 20 cm, and 50 cm. Hourly readings were collected using an Omnidata Easylogger.
Eight Mile Lake Research Watershed, Carbon in Permafrost Experimental Heating Research (CiPEHR): Seasonal water table depth data, 2009-2011.
The Carbon in Permafrost Experimental Heating Research (CiPEHR) project addresses the following questions: 1) Does ecosystem warming cause a net release of C from the ecosystem to the atmosphere?, 2) Does the decomposition of old C that comprises the bulk of the soil C pool influence ecosystem C loss?, and 3) How do winter and summer warming alone, and in combination, affect ecosystem C exchange? We are answering these questions using a combination of field and laboratory experiments to measure ecosystem carbon balance and radiocarbon isotope ratios at a warming experiment located in an upland tundra field site near Healy, Alaska in the foothills of the Alaska Range. This data set includes thaw depth and water table depth measurements collected from winter warming and control treatment plots at CiPEHR.
Eight Mile Lake Research Watershed, Thaw Gradient: Geochemical data from perched waters collected from boreholes on Gradient site during August-September 2019
In this larger study, we are asking the question: Is old carbon that comprises the bulk of the soil organic matter pool released in response to thawing of permafrost? We are answering this question by using a combination of field and laboratory experiments to measure radiocarbon isotope ratios in soil organic matter, soil respiration, and dissolved organic carbon, in tundra ecosystems. The objective of these proposed measurements is to develop a mechanistic understanding of the SOM sources contributing to C losses following permafrost thawing. We are making these measurements at an established tundra field site near Healy, Alaska in the foothills of the Alaska Range. Field measurements center on a natural experiment where permafrost has been observed to warm and thaw over the past several decades. This area represents a gradient of sites each with a different degree of change due to permafrost thawing. As such, this area is unique for addressing questions at the time and spatial scales relevant for change in arctic ecosystems. Geochemical analysis of water perched on the permafrost table complements the overarching aim of this study by targeting the organic component transported laterally from the soils. The association between DOC and mineral elements in the waters perched on the permafrost table was determined. These mineral element-organic carbon associations must be accounted for when considering the stability of organic carbon transported laterally from the catchment.

The dissolved organic carbon and mineral elements are determined in soil pore waters from sites of minimum, moderate and extensive permafrost degradation during the spring thaw (0-20 cm depth) in May 2018 and during late summer (0-120 cm depth) in August 2019. Soil pore waters were collected from sites approximately 15 m uphill of the highly monitored Gradient sites. The geochemical data was used to assess the mineral element-organic carbon associations in soil pore waters between contrasting sites of permafrost degradation.
