Process Controls on Flood Seasonality in Brazil - link to data and plots

This data set and plots of circular histograms accompany the paper "Process Controls on Flood Seasonality in Brazil" at Geophysical Research Letters (https://doi.org/10.1029/2021GL096754). In this paper, we investigate the relationship between the seasonality of floods, maximum annual rainfall, and maximum annual soil moisture data of 886 basins in Brazil for 1980-2015 to shed light on process controls of flood generation.

Manhattan and QQ plots of GWAS on salt stress responses in root system architecture parameters of wild tomato (S. pimpinellifolium)

The population of +/2 200 accessions of wild tomato was screened with the protocol described here with the only exception that the plants were transferred 4 days after germination (rather than 3 - described in the protocol). The images were analyzed using the SmartRoot for days 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 after transfer to treatment plates (0 or 100 mM NaCl, 1/4 MS, 0.5% sucrose, 0.1% MES, 1% Dashin agar). The data analysis was performed as described here, while the pareto front calculations were done according to Chandrasekhar & Julkowska paper (preprint here). The GWAS was performed using the ASReml script similar to Awlia et al. (2021). The raw GWAS outputs can be found here. This dataset represents Manhattan plots and QQ plots made out of the data.

Presence data for vascular plant, bryophyte and lichen species in 100 vegetation plots (each 1 m2) from 32 shell-beds at Akerøya, Hvaler, SE Norway

We present a data set consisting of abundance data for 106 vascular plant species, 36 bryophyte species and 13 lichen species from 100 vegetation plots, each 1 m2, distributed on 32 shell-beds at Akerøya, Hvaler municipality, former Østfold (in 2022 Viken) county. The plots were analysed with respect to species composition in June 1979. These data formed the basis for the publication: Halvorsen, R. 1980. Figure 1. Scatter plot of ECA exam by average vocabulary in Grade Three

The mean score of every learner on the vocabulary tests was calculated. Then, through the
statistical procedure of regression analysis, the data from the mean scores and the ECA exam scores
were analyzed to derive a model which could reliably predict the learners’ performance on the ECA
exam.
To check whether the two variables of the ECA exam and the average vocabulary were
suitable for linear regression, its scatter plot was examined. The resulting scatter plot (Figure 1)
seemed to be sufficient for linear regression.

Figure 2: Impedance by means of Bode-plot representation, symmetric (con- tinuous line) and the asymmetric (dashed line) tree.-THE RESPIRATORY IMPEDANCE IN AN ASYMMETRIC MODEL OF THE LUNG STRUCTURE

Figure 2 shows the total impedance by means of its Bode plot, for the symmetric and the asymmetric tree, whereas the airway tubes are modelled by an R ¡ L ¡ C element in both representations.
It is signi¯cant to observe that in the frequency interval of clinical interest,
! 2 [25; 300] rad/s, the two impedances tend to behave similarly. For the asymmetric case, we have a decrease of about -10dB/dec and a phase of ap-proximately ¡50o, resulting in a fractional order of n »=0:5. This observation suggests that a combined e®ect of more than one fractal order is present in the lungs and that it leads naturally to values closer to measured data in the low
frequency range.

Figure 5: The estimated impedance within the measured frequency range for the symmetric (*) and the asymmetric (o) case, polar plot representation.

In other words, the symmetric tree representation does not
su±ce to obtain a good ¯t between the model and the measured impedance
data. Another observation is that the constant-phase behavior is emphasized
at frequencies below those evaluated standardly in clinical practice, i.e. below
5Hz. However, in the standard clinical range of frequencies for the forced oscil-
lation technique, namely 4-48Hz, both symmetric and asymmetric tree models
give similar results, as depicted in ¯gure 4 and ¯gure 5.

Figure 1 Scatter Plot of Standardized Residual by Standardized Predicted Value-Potential Predictability of ZPD of Children's Cognitive Development

One of the essential assumptions that should be met in regression analysis is the linearity of
the data. The result of the analysis of variance (ANOVA) shows that regression model is linear; F
(1, 39) = 8.429, P <0.05 for model 1 and F (2, 38) = 8.648, P<0.05 for model 2. Moreover, Scatter
plot shows (Figure1) that there is no funnel shaped or crescent shaped cloud. This indicates that two
assumptions of linearity and homogeneity of variance have been met.
