Alec Davis ICOTOM19 conference presentation
<p>Simulation and texture investigation of a novel recrystallisation mechanism in Ti-6Al-4V during wire-arc AM with inter-pass deformation. High deposition rate Wire-Arc Additive Manufacture (WAAM) of Ti-6Al-4V is attractive to industry for near-net shape production of large-scale components. However, WAAM leads to the development of undesirable coarse columnar β grains which, as a consequence of the larger heat source, grow epitaxially throughout components. To break up the β-grain structure, a cold deformation step can be introduced, between deposition passes, to induce recrystallisation on heating during the α→β transformation. This inter-pass deformation process produces small, equiaxed, β grains, even when low strains are employed. In single β crystal simulations of the thermomechanical history, starting with a coarse conventional α microstructure, the more expected behaviour occurred, with limited β recrystallisation produced largely by lattice rotation. In contrast, with a fine AM starting transformation microstructure, as well as a high level of recrystallisation, a unique texture was observed, which was consistent with the deformation-induced annealing twinning produced during the α→β transformation.</p>

Data from: Insect hypovirulence-associated mycovirus confers entomopathogenic fungi with enhanced resistance against phytopathogens
<p>Mycoviruses can alter the biological characteristics of host fungi including decreasing or enhancing virulence or pathogenicity of phytopathogens and entomopathogenic fungi (EPF). As an extensively used EPF, <em>Beauveria bassiana</em> could not only directly control pests, but also improve plant resistance against plant disease through endophytic colonization. However, most studies on the mycoviruses found in <em>B. bassiana</em> have focused on the effects of the viruses on the virulence of host fungi toward insect pests, with relatively few reports on the effects to the host fungi with regard to plant disease resistance in hosts. The present study investigated the effects of the mycovirus <em>Beauveria bassiana</em> chrysovirus 2 (BbCV2) virus infection on host biological characteristics, additionally, we evaluated antagonistic activity of BbCV2 against phytopathogenic fungi (<em>Sclerotinia sclerotiorum</em> and <em>Botrytis cinerea</em>) <em>in vitro</em> and their associated diseases both in <em>in vitro</em> leaves and in pot experiments. Our results showed that the mycovirus, BbCV2, enhanced the growth rate, spore production, and biomass of host fungi <em>B. bassiana</em>. BbCV2 virus infection enhanced the capacity of host fungi and their metabolic products to inhibit phytopathogenic fungi <em>S. sclerotiorum</em> and <em>B. cinerea</em>. BbCV2 virus infection reduced the contents of the two pathogens in tomato plants significantly, and in turn enhanced the plant resistance induced by host fungi colonization against the diseases caused by the two pathogens.</p>

Metadata on Articles Published at the Requirements Engineering Conference, REFSQ conference, or Requirements Engineering Journal from 2009 until 2018
<p>In the 1990s, it was recognized that Requirements Engineering lays the foundation for high quality software. A substantial research community has formed that set out to enable practitioners of the 21st century to systematically adopt proven strategies to common development challenges and to enable the engineering of innovative solutions and product features. But is contemporary RE Research delivering what it set out to deliver? In the article at IEEE Software 36(4) with DOI 10.1109/MS.2019.2909127, we provide a brief overview over the accomplishments of the past 10 years and identify open opportunities. The work at hand is the raw dataset of metadata, specifically keywords and author names, of articles published at the Requirements Engineering Conference, REFSQ conference, or Requirements Engineering Journal from 2009 until 2018 and supplements our article.</p>
