Distribution pattern of rocky desertification in southwest China and analysis of its main driving factors based on GIS and Geodetector
<p>Rocky desertification, a pressing environmental concern in Southwest China, significantly impacts local living conditions and regional sustainability. Employing remote sensing on a macro scale, this study focuses on identifying and analyzing the spatial distribution and driving factors of rocky desertification. Conducted in Southwest China, using Landsat data from Google Earth Engine for 2020, the research quantitatively extracts information on rocky desertification patches through traditional methods. Excluding unlikely areas using land use data, spatial distribution features and driving factors are examined via GIS spatial analysis and a geodetector model. The main conclusions are as follows. Rocky desertification covers 217,530.4 km<sup>2</sup> (accounting for 15.6% of Southwest China), with areas of slight, moderate, and severe rocky desertification at 81.3%, 7.1%, and 11.6%, respectively. Spatially, rocky desertification primarily occurs in areas where lithology is carbonate rock between clastic rocks and continuous limestone, slope exceeds 15°, elevation ranges is 1000–2000 m, land use types are grassland and woodland, precipitation is 80–120 mm, and population density is below 50 people/km<sup>2</sup>. Human activities have minimal influence. Geodetector analysis identifies lithology, land use type, and slope as primary driving factors, with interactive effects of lithology and land use type and slope and land use type jointly influencing rocky desertification formation in Southwest China.</p>

Assessing Factors of User Participation in Social Media During Crisis Events: An Analysis of Features and Practices
<p>This data is analyzed and presented in the publication: Assessing Factors of User Participation in Social Media During Crisis Events: An Analysis of Features and Practices</p><p><strong>Abstract</strong></p><p>The relevance of employing social media in crisis scenarios has aroused interest for researchers and teams responsible for crisis management. The aim of this study is to explore the experience and abilities of social media users related to such events. For this, we conducted an analysis of the functionalities of social media used in this context, followed by a survey with users of social media. The research included the participation of 159 individuals and queried whether the participants had previously witnessed crisis events, whether they habitually share information about these events, and whether they perceived the importance of this practice. The results suggest that participants actively use social media and are inclined to share information about crisis events, provided improvements are made to the existing features. This study offers contributions toward a more profound understanding of social media tools, user interaction, and information sharing while considering the challenges found during such events.</p>

Life stage and taxonomy the most important factors determining vertebrate stoichiometry: A meta-analysis
<p>1. Whole-body elemental composition is a key trait for determining how organisms influence their ecosystems. Using mass-balance, ecological stoichiometry predicts that animals with higher concentrations of element X will selectively retain more X and will recycle less X in their waste than animals with lower X concentrations. These animals will also store high quantities of X during their lives and after their deaths (prior to full decomposition).</p> <p>2. Vertebrates may uniquely impact nutrient cycling because they store high quantities of phosphorus (P) in their bones. However, vertebrates have diverse body forms and invest variably in bone. Current analyses of vertebrate elemental content predominately evaluate fishes, typically neglecting other vertebrates and leaving much of the diversity unexplored.</p> <p>3. We performed a systematic review and identified 179 measurements of whole-body percent phosphorus (%P), percent nitrogen (%N), and N to P ratio (N:P) from 129 unique species of non-fish vertebrates (amphibians: 39 species; reptiles: 19 species; birds: 27 species; mammals: 46 species)</p> <p>4. We found that %P (mean: 1.94%; sd (standard deviation) = 0.77) and N:P (mean: 12.52) varied with taxonomy and life stage, while %N (mean: 10.51%; sd = 3.25) varied primarily with taxonomy. Habitat, diet, and size had small and inconsistent effects in different groups.</p> <p>5. Our study highlights two research gaps. Life stage, which is frequently neglected in stoichiometric studies, is an important factor determining vertebrate %P. Furthermore, amphibians dominate our dataset, while other vertebrate taxa are poorly represented in the current literature. Further research into these neglected vertebrate taxa is essential.</p>

Analysis of SanguPalu Application Success Factor Using the Delone and McLean Model
<p><span>The purpose of this study was to analyze the SanguPalu Application using the success of the Delone and Mc Lean models. The research method used is quantitative. The data collection technique was carried out by distributing questionnaires to the people of Palu who had used the SanguPalu application with a total of 141 respondents through purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis techniques using PLS-SEM with SmartPLS 4.0. The structural model analysis revealed that information quality and system quality significantly influence both intentions to use and user satisfaction, while service quality did not show a significant impact on either. Additionally, the intention to use positively affected user satisfaction, and both intentions to use and user satisfaction significantly influenced net benefits. The R-square values indicated that the model has good explanatory power, particularly for user satisfaction (R² = 0.603) and net benefits (R² = 0.450). These findings underscore the critical roles of information quality, system quality, and user satisfaction in the success of e-government applications, providing valuable insights for policymakers and practitioners aiming to enhance the effectiveness of digital public services.</span></p>
CREATIONS Pre-Study CPAC factor analysis
<p>This are data of a pre-study in the frame work of the Horizon2020 EU Project CREATIONS. We searched for a valid way of empirically quantifying of creativity of adolescents.</p> <p>The original 10-item Likert-scale questionnaire CPAC (Cognitive Processes associated with Creativity) was translated in 6 languages and administred in 8 countries to a sample of 2713 students, aged 11-19 (M± SD: 15.71 ± 2.24; 54.7% females). (For this public data set some data had to be removed from the original set for reasons of data prtection.)</p> <p>The factor analysis revealed two subscales: one, labelled CPAC <em>Act</em>, covering conscious and trainable cognitive processes; the second, named CPAC <em>Flow</em>, contained items describing elements of flow experiences, a mental state of creativity. No gender differences were found.</p> <p> </p>
Data from: Analysis of pigment-dispersing factor neuropeptides and their receptor in a velvet worm
<p>Pigment-dispersing factor neuropeptides (PDFs) occur in a wide range of protostomes including ecdysozoans (= molting animals) and lophotrochozoans (mollusks, annelids, flatworms, and allies). Studies in insects revealed that PDFs play a role as coupling factors of circadian pacemaker cells, thereby controlling rest-activity rhythms. While the last common ancestor of protostomes most likely possessed only one <i>pdf</i> gene, two <i>pdf</i> homologs, <i>pdf-I</i> and <i>pdf-II</i>, might have been present in the last common ancestors of Ecdysozoa and Panarthropoda (Onychophora + Tardigrada + Arthropoda). One of these homologs, however, was subsequently lost in the tardigrade and arthropod lineages followed by independent duplications of <i>pdf-I</i> in tardigrades and decapod crustaceans. Due to the ancestral set of two <i>pdf</i> genes, the study of PDFs and their receptor (PDFR) in Onychophora might reveal the ancient organization and function of the PDF/PDFR system in panarthropods. Therefore, we deorphanized the PDF receptor and generated specific antibodies to localize the two PDF peptides and their receptor in the onychophoran <i>Euperipatoides rowelli</i>. We further conducted bioluminescence resonance energy transfer (BRET) experiments on cultured human cells (HEK293T) using an Epac-based sensor (Epac-L) to examine cAMP responses in transfected cells and to reveal potential differences in the interaction of PDF-I and PDF-II with PDFR from <i>E. rowelli</i>. These data show that PDF-II has a tenfold higher potency than PDF-I as an activating ligand. Double immunolabeling revealed that both peptides are co-expressed in <i>E. rowelli</i> but their respective levels of expression differ between specific cells: some neurons express the same amount of both peptides, while others exhibit higher levels of either PDF-I or PDF-II. The detection of the onychophoran PDF receptor in cells that additionally express the two PDF peptides suggests autoreception, whereas spatial separation of PDFR- and PDF-expressing cells supports hormonal release of PDF into the hemolymph. This suggests a dual role of PDF peptides—as hormones and as neurotransmitters/neuromodulators—in Onychophora.</p>
