Annual Report on surveillance for Avian Influenza in poultry and wild birds in Member States of the European Union in 2020 - monthly maps
<p>Here you can find monthly maps referred in publication 'Annual Report on surveillance for Avian Influenza in poultry and wild birds in Member States of the European Union in 2020' by EFSA.</p> <p>Figure legend for all figures:<br> Monthly observations and samples from wild birds on the EFSA list of target species for 2020 by NUTS3 region. The green colour scale represents the number of wild bird observations from the target species, as per data provided by the EuroBirdPortal project. The black dots represent the number of wild bird samples from target species tested within the countries' AI passive surveillance programmes. Wild bird samples reported at NUTS2 level are not shown on these maps.</p>
Figure 2 A in First evidence of predation of the ant species Lasius alienus on the poultry red mite Dermanyssus gallinae
Figure 2 A pile of dry hen feces colonized byD. gallinae was divided into two pieces in Experiment 3. The left one was exposed to ants for 24 hours. The right one was not exposed to ants and was used as a negative control after being kept at 20oC to hold the mites inactive. A: adult mite, B: early biological forms, C: egg, D: white residues of PRM aggregate.
Poultry Birds Poo Imagery Dataset for Health Status Prediction
<p>Imagery dataset of chicken poo of both healthy and non-healthy collected from poultry farms rearing two species of chickens namely: broilers and layers in Nigeria. The dataset has a total of 14,618 labeled images with 100 × 100 pixels in jpeg format and a label indicating the name of the image from the image number. In the repository, data were uploaded into 2 separate folders; each folder of either healthy or non-healthy contain images taken from different time to the day; morning, afternoon, night and others.</p>
Data for "ChickenSense: A low-cost deep learning-based solution for real-time poultry feed intake monitoring using sound technology"
<p>The dataset includes two types of data: scale and audio. The scale data is recorded using a hanging scale and measures the feeders' weight with a 5 Hz frequency. The audio data contains 1824 hours of recorded audio using a piezo-electric sensor attached to a bucket feeder to capture vibrations as audio signals with a sampling rate of 48 kHz. Each .wav file contains 15 minutes of audio recording.<br> Along with the raw data, a part of the dataset containing 36 30-second audio recordings was sampled and labeled in four classes, including pecking, singing, anomaly, and silence, resulting in 3319 labeled events. </p>
Vaccination of poultry against highly pathogenic avian influenza – part 1. Available vaccines and vaccination strategies. Annex A–Supplementary information on ToR 1 data
<p>Table A.1 - Available vaccines for HPAI in poultry. The table includes information on vaccine characteristics such as HA seed strain, vaccine dosage and administration route, target species, authorisation status, challenge strain, duration of immunity and source of information.</p> <p>Table A.2 - Challenge experiments. The table includes data extracted from 28 selected studies from literature on challenge experiments. The data was used to quantify VES, VEm, VEsh and VEs,sh for each vaccine assessed within each study. For each value of VEs,sh the probability Rvac < 1 was estimated to infer the probability of the vaccine to potentially stop transmission in vaccinated birds (VET).</p> <p>Table A.3 - Transmission experiments. The table includes data extracted from 12 studies from the literature, data was used from the unvaccinated and vaccinated groups to quantify VES, VEm, VEsh and VEs,sh for each vaccine assessed within each study; the estimated R values for the unvaccinated (Runv) and vaccinated (Rvac) groups were also extracted. The Rvac values were used to create a binomial variable classifying whether the vaccine could stop transmission (R < 1) or not.</p>

Anaerobic digestion of poultry manure to power a poultry farm in Ba: Techno-economic study
Poultry is the largest meat volume produced in Fiji, yet considering the large quantity of waste produced by this livestock, there has not been any established study nor application of the anaerobic digestion (AD) of poultry manure (PM) in the country. This paper aims to determine the techno-economic feasibility of the AD of PM to power a poultry farm in Fiji. A pilot-scale, solid-state anaerobic digestion (SSAD) was employed with mono-digestion batches of PM, and co-digestions with kitchen waste (KW) and newspaper waste (NPW). The key operational parameters of AD were measured and its influence on the biogas production were studied, whereby changes in environmental temperature had the greatest effect on biogas production. The results were then used to carry out a feasibility study of the full-scale design. The results showed that the SSAD system would generate 189.46 MWh of electricity annually, with a levelized cost of energy of FJ$0.17/KWh.

Digital research data from: Evaluation of a pH- and time-dependent model for the sorption of heavy metal cations by poultry litter-derived biochar
<p>This is digital research data corresponding to a published manuscript, Evaluation of a pH- and time-dependent model for the sorption of heavy metal cations by poultry litter-derived biochar. Chemosphere (2024), 347, 140688. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.chemosphere.2023.140688. </p> <p>Common isotherm and kinetic models cannot describe the pH-dependent sorption of heavy metal cations by biochar. In this paper, we evaluated a pH-dependent, equilibrium/kinetic model for describing the sorption of cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn) by poultry litter-derived biochar (PLB). We performed sorption experiments across a range of solution pH, initial metal concentration, and reaction time. </p>
Number of days before poultry sold
