<p><strong>Supplementary Material</strong></p> <p><em>Context</em>: Software organizations have faced several challenges, such as the need for faster deliveries, frequent changes in requirements, lower tolerance to failures and the need to adapt to contemporary business models. Agile practices have allowed organizations to shorten development cycles and increase customer collaboration. However, this has not been enough. Organizations should evolve to continuous and data-driven development in a continuous software engineering approach. Continuous Software Engineering (CSE) consists of a set of practices and tools that support a holistic view of software development with the purpose of making it faster, iterative, integrated, continuous and aligned with business. Implementing CSE requires changes in the organization&rsquo;s culture, practices and structure, which may not be easy. <em>Objective</em>:&nbsp; We aim to provide a preliminary picture of CSE adoption in Brazilian software organizations. <em>Method</em>: We adapted and used Zeppelin, a diagnostic instrument of CSE adoption based on the Stairway to Heaven Model (StH), to perform a survey with 28 Brazilian organizations aiming at investigating the adoption of CSE practices. <em>Results</em>: The results indicate that organizations have better addressed agile and continuous deployment practices than the ones related to continuous integration and continuous experimentation, but this scenario changes a bit depending on the organization type. The results also show that CSE adoption has been heterogeneous, but there are patterns in the adoption of some practices. <em>Conclusion</em>: Although the StH model proposes a sequential and evolutionary path for CSE adoption, organizations have not always followed that path systematically. There are indeed CSE practices that depend on others and thus contribute to sequential implementation. However, organizations tend to adopt the practices gradually, covering different stages, and evolving according to the organization needs.</p> <p>This package contains supplementary material of the study performed to investigate the adoption of CSE practices in Brazilian organizations. Supplementary Material - Uncovering the Effects of Quantum Computing on Software Engineering: A Systematic Mapping

<p>This is the supplementary material regarding:&nbsp; &ldquo;On the Influence of Quantum Computing on Software Engineering: A Systematic Mapping&rdquo;, the idea being to make it possible to reproduce the methodology applied in the Systematic Mapping (SM) used in the study. It consists of:</p> <ul> <li>Spreadsheet with the data of the papers selected in each step of the filtering phase of the SM development</li> <li>Fluxogram detailing the Methodology of the SM step-by-step<strong></strong></li> </ul> <h3><strong>Objectives</strong></h3> <p>The main objective of the SM was to provide a detailed analysis on how quantum computing has affected four software engineering topics: Software Testing and Quality; Software Reengineering/Modernization; Software Modeling and Software Processes and Development Platforms</p> <p>Based on the results of such Mapping, four research questions were defined realted to the quantum software engineering topic:</p> <ul> <li> <p>RQ1: <span>How has QC impacted software testing and qual</span><span>ity? This RQ aims to identify proposed methods for </span><span>testing quantum software and topics related to quantum </span><span>metrics and bugs.</span></p> </li> <li> <p>RQ2: How has QC influenced software reengineering and modernization practices? This study seeks to analyze the treatment of reverse engineering and refactorings within this context.</p> </li> <li> <p>RQ3: How is quantum software modeled? This research aims to investigate the impact of QC on modeling languages and the granularity level used.</p> </li> <li> <p>RQ4: How have development processes and platforms been shaped by QC? The goal is to assess the current maturity of processes and platforms for QC.</p> </li> </ul> <h3><strong>Preparation</strong></h3> <p>In this part we outline the resources, digital libraries, the search string and inclusion and exclusion criteria used in this SM on the influence of quantum computing on software engineering.</p> <p>The platform used to manage the articles and define the search string and inclusion and exclusion criteria was Parsifal. Harmonising Contributions: Exploring Diversity in Software Engineering through CQA Mining on Stack Overflow – Replication Package

<p>Community question-and-answering platforms dedicated to software engineering, such as&nbsp;Stack Overflow, have assumed indispensable roles in fostering a thriving global knowledge ecosystem.&nbsp;As these platforms suffer from diversity-related issues, investigating the underlying reasons behind such challenges becomes imperative to devise potential intervention strategies.</p> <p>The proposed study highlights&nbsp;Stack Overflow users&rsquo; contribution profiles, both in isolation and relative to various diversity metrics, including GDP and access to electricity. Finally, the study&nbsp;explores whether these contribution profiles extend to the city and state levels.</p> <p>This replication package complements our study, prompting future scholars to further examine our research process or conduct follow up analyses.</p>

Replication Package: Navigating the Complexity of Generative AI Adoption in Software Engineering

<p>This paper explores the adoption of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and Large Language Models (LLMs) within the domain of software engineering, focusing on the influencing factors at the individual, technological, and social levels. We applied a convergent mixed-methods approach to offer a comprehensive understanding of AI adoption dynamics. We initially conducted a structured interview study with 100 software engineers, drawing upon the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the Diffusion of Innovations theory (DOI), and the Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) as guiding theoretical frameworks. Employing the Gioia Methodology, we derived a preliminary theoretical model of AI adoption in software: the Human-AI Collaboration and Adaptation Framework (HACAF). This model was then validated using Partial Least Squares &ndash; Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) based on data from 183 software professionals. Our research unveils the complex dynamics at play in AI adoption within software engineering. Findings indicate that at this early stage of AI integration, the compatibility of AI tools within existing development workflows predominantly drives their adoption, challenging conventional technology acceptance theories. The impact of perceived usefulness, social factors, and personal innovativeness seems less pronounced than expected. The study provides crucial insights for future AI tool design and offers a framework for developing effective organizational implementation strategies.</p>

Gamification of Student Development Projects in Software Engineering Education - Master's Thesis Dataset

<p>This dataset contains all questionnaire results of the Master's Thesis <em>Gamification of Student Development Projects in Software Engineering Education</em>. The thesis will be linked to this set as soon as it is completed and publically available.</p> <p>In total, five questionnaires were conducted. To analyze users and requirements, a questionnaire with students and project supervisors was conducted. The implemented tool was evaluated using a pre-, mid-, and post-study questionnaire. This dataset contains a folder for each questionnaire including results in CSV format, results in HTML format, which is more human readable, and the questionnaire in PDF format. Due to the used survey tool,&nbsp;<em>lamapoll</em>, some parts of the files are in German. However, the questions and responses are all in English.</p> <p>Additionally, the scripts folder contains the Python scripts that were used to produce the graphics of the thesis. The Python libraries <code>matplotlib</code>, <code>pandas</code>, <code>scipy</code>, <code>numpy</code>, and <code>plot_likert</code> are required to run the scripts. Some of them use the two provided files <code>evalutation_concat_raw_excel.csv</code>, which is a concatenation of the results of the three evaluation questionnaires, and <code>sprint_stats.csv</code>, which contains statistics of the sprints relevant to the user study.</p>

Enhancing Women's Experiences in Software Engineering

<p><strong>Context:&nbsp;</strong>Women face many challenges in their lives, including harassment, lack of acceptance, and excessive workloads. These challenges affect their daily experiences and influence major life decisions, such as pursuing a career in IT. These issues further diminish the already low participation of women in the industry, making the field less appealing to potential newcomers. The challenges often begin before women even enroll in bachelor's programs, setting a difficult path for those aspiring to enter the software development industry.<br><strong>Goal:&nbsp;</strong>To investigate challenges women face in IT at different stages of their lives&mdash;specifically, during their last year of high school, while they are at University pursuing their bachelor's degree, and as practitioners. Furthermore, we aim to explore solutions to address these identified challenges.<br><strong>Research Method:&nbsp;</strong>To achieve this goal, we conducted a literature review using the snowballing technique to identify challenges and solutions already reported in the literature. The literature review results were used as input for workshops, in which we sought to understand the perspectives of high school women, undergraduates, and practitioners regarding the same set of challenges and solutions identified in the literature.<br><strong>Results:</strong> Our studies revealed that, regardless of the life stage, women feel discouraged in a toxic environment often characterized by a lack of inclusion, harassment, and the exhausting need to prove themselves. We also discovered that some challenges are specific to certain life stages; for example, issues related to maternity were mentioned only by practitioners.<br><strong>Conclusions:&nbsp;</strong>Women encounter gender-related challenges even before deciding to enter the software development field when the proportion of men and women is still similar. While issues such as feeling the need to prove themselves are mentioned at all three stages, high school women's challenges are more often directed toward convincing their parents that they are mature enough to handle their own responsibilities. As women move to the other stages, the challenge shifts to proving their competence in managing responsibilities for which they have received training. Increasing the inclusion of women in the field should, therefore, start earlier, and profound societal changes may be necessary to boost women's participation in the field.&nbsp;</p>
