Clock bell
The bell was probably cast in the Kraków bell foundry of Kacper Franke operating in Kraków in the years 1601–1639. On the circumference there is a raised inscription: LAUDATE DOMINUM IN CYMBALIS BENE SONANTIBUS ANNO 1637 (Praise the Lord loudly in 1637). The order for the bell was probably issued by the parish priest of Miechów and at the same time the royal secretary, Piotr Gembicki of the Nałęcz coat of arms, who in 1638 became the great crown chancellor. The bell has no heart. The sound was obtained by hitting its outer part with the hammer of a mechanical clock. ID no.: MZM/D/R/6 Creator: Kacper Franke (?) Inkwell from Bell Rock Lighthouse
This object from the collection of the [Museum of Scottish Lighthouses](http://http://lighthousemuseum.org.uk/) is a decorative brass inkwell and pen rest featuring a bust of Neptune, Roman God of the sea. While the age of the object is unestablished, it was certainly used at the Bell Rock Lighthouse – some 12 miles off Arbroath – from at least 1910 until the station was modernised in 1963. It was kept in the station's library which was located immediately below the lightroom. Bronze bell

This is a small bronze hollow-cast quadrilateral [bell](http://vocab.getty.edu/page/aat/300041874). The bell has a crown with a circular inner opening and irregular angular outer edge. The shoulder gently curves into four sides. The lip opening is squared with a larger fragment missing on one side. On the opposing side in the same location is a small circular hole. Small quadrilateral bells were made throughout the Roman world using the cire-perdue process. They had a variety of functions including hanging on windchimes to bring good luck to families. Ambient vibrations of the San Frediano bell tower in Lucca
<table> <tbody> <tr> <th> </th> <td>The San Frediano bell tower in Lucca, dating back to the thirteenth century, is located in the historic center of Lucca and is about 50 m high. This dataset hosts the velocities recorded on the tower from 29-5-15 to 3-6-2015 under ambient vibrations. The velocities were recorded by four tri-axial seismic stations installed at different positions along the tower's height. Data have been acquired continuously with a frequency of 100 sp. The recordings hosted in the dataset are given in count and can be transformed to m/s using the constant 119*10^-9 /200. This constant allows for a good approximation of the velocity values in the frequency range of interest. Data were acquired in the MONSTER and the SOUL project frameworks, both funded by the "Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca", whose contribution is gratefully acknowledged.</td> </tr> </tbody> </table>
Mojave Bell's Sparrow (Artemisiospiza bellii canescens) and Sagebrush Sparrow (Artemisiospiza nevadensis) captures at western Arizona sites, February 2014
<p>Bell's Sparrows (<em>Artemisiospiza</em> <em>belli</em>)) have only recently been recognized as distinct from Sagebrush Sparrows (<em>A. nevadensis</em>), and the "Mojave" subspecies (<em>A. b. canescens</em>) shares an overlapping wintering distribution with Sagebrush Sparrow in the Mojave and Sonoran deserts of southeastern California and western Arizona. We lack understanding of the 2 species' respective wintering habitat preferences and the degree to which they interact or segregate on their wintering grounds due to the difficulty in separating them in the field and to their previous classification as one species. We captured and sampled 74 <em>Artemisiospiza</em> sparrows from 5 sites across western Arizona, supporting field identifications with genetic analyses of mitochondrial DNA to confirm species and molecular sexing of sampled individuals. Bell's Sparrows and Sagebrush Sparrows segregated into different habitat types across our study area, with only one species detected at 4 of 5 study sites. Bell's Sparrows comprised 82 percent (n = 33) of Artemisiospiza sparrows captured at the 5th site at Robbins Butte. Broadly, Sagebrush Sparrows were found in more upland, well-drained locations that were sparsely vegetated with xerophytic scrub. Bell's Sparrows were found in more vegetated locations with halophytic Mojave seablite (<em>Suaeda nigra</em>) and saltbush (<em>Atriplex</em>) adjacent to mesquite and tamarisk woodlands. Bell's Sparrow sex ratios were significantly female-biased (binomial test: n = 56, observed k = 48 females, expected k = 28 females for assumed p = 0.5, Pr (k ≤ 8 or k ≥ 48) < 0.0001; 95% CI = 0.369 – 0.631 for assumed p = 0.5) at Fort Mohave and Robbins Butte, the 2 sites where Bell's Sparrows were found. Our observed sex-ratios and well-documented year-round presence of Bell's Sparrows on and near the breeding grounds suggest that Bell's Sparrow males and females employ different migration strategies, a phenomenon not previously documented for this taxon.</p>

Bronze bell / Bronzen belletje
Een bronzen bel uit de tufstenen kelder, opgraving Ke-1 op het Kelfkensbosch te Nijmegen. Vondstnummer: Ke1.4.P55.406 [= vulling tufstenen kelder] Het gaat om een vermoedelijk in brons gegoten belletje met een maximale diameter van 3,4 cm en een hoogte van 4,5 cm. Het oog is aan de binnenzijde nogal afgesleten, wat erop wijst dat het belletje intensief en/of voor langere tijd is gebruikt. Alhoewel de tufstenen kelder - alwaar het belletje is gevonden - een sluitdatum rond het midden van de 11e eeuw heeft, kan een oudere datering in de 9e of 10e eeuw niet worden uitgesloten. Opmerkelijk is de wijze waarop de klepel oorspronkelijk was bevestigd, namelijk via een ijzeren stangetje die door twee in de mal meegegoten gaten naar buiten uitsteekt en daar is gefixeerd. De bel weegt 43,3 gram en is inmiddels door Floris Reijnen schoongemaakt en behandeld met Paraloid B72. The project is a large synthesis effort focused on improving the accessibility and use of long-term data. At present, there are ~50 state and federally funded research sites that are participating and contributing to the EcoTrends project, including all 26 Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) sites and sites funded by the USDA Agriculture Research Service (ARS), USDA Forest Service, US Department of Energy, US Geological Survey (USGS) and numerous universities. Data from the EcoTrends project are available through an exploratory web portal (http://www.ecotrends.info). This web portal enables the continuation of data compilation and accessibility by users through an interactive web application. Ongoing data compilation is updated through both manual and automatic processing as part of the LTER Provenance Aware Synthesis Tracking Architecture (PASTA). The web portal is a collaboration between the Jornada LTER and the LTER Network Office. The following dataset from Grassland Soil and Water Research Laboratory (GSW) contains county area measurements in squareKilometers units and were aggregated to a yearly timescale.
