Data from: Strong evidence of an Information-Theoretical Conservation Principle linking all discrete systems

<p>Diverse discrete systems share common global properties that lack a unifying theoretical explanation. However, constraining the simplest measure of total information (Hartley-Shannon) in a statistical mechanics framework reveals a principle, the Conservation of Hartley-Shannon Information (CoHSI) that directly predicts both known and unsuspected common properties of discrete systems, as borne out in the diverse systems of computer software, proteins and music.  Discrete systems fall into two categories distinguished by their structure: heterogeneous systems in which there is a distinguishable order of assembly of the system's components from an alphabet of  unique tokens (e.g. proteins assembled from an alphabet of amino acids), and homogeneous systems in which unique tokens are simply binned, counted and rank ordered. Heterogeneous systems are characterized by an implicit distribution of component lengths, with sharp unimodal peak (containing the majority of components) and a power-law tail, whereas homogeneous systems reduce naturally to Zipf's Law but with a drooping tail in the distribution.  We also confirm predictions that very long components are inevitable for heterogeneous systems; that discrete systems can exhibit simultaneously both heterogeneous and homogeneous behavior; and that in systems with more than one consistent token alphabet (e.g. digital music), the alphabets themselves show a power-law relationship.</p>

Data of Paper "Turning a Multilingual Historical Archive into an Information System through Post-OCR Correction and Content-Based Indexation"

<p>We evaluated our approach on a collection of 946 historical documents belonging to the Biblioteca Nacional de Catalunya (BNC), spanning from 1914 to 1951. Each document is the issue of a magazine, comprising different articles by different authors. This implies that, despite the thematic nature of magazines and specific issues, there is a certain degree of heterogeneity in each document. Magazines were selected based on their relevance w.r.t. art in general and, more specifically, early 20th century avant-garde movements (e.g., Dadaism, Cubism, etc.). For each document, we have the scanning of the original artifact and the plain raw text extracted through ABBYY FineReader OCR tool. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first Catalan-dominated OCR corpus ever released.&nbsp;</p>

Social Media Marketing for SMEs: Leveraging Information Systems for Sales Performance

<p><span>Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) may directly interact with more clientele using social media marketing (SMM). To ensure accurate data and effective monitoring of progress, the field of SMM requires implementing a robust information system. This study examines the impact of information systems on consumer engagement in social media marketing for SMEs. This approach assesses the adoption of social media marketing using a single variable. This study employed purposive sampling to identify 129 SMEs for cross-sectional preliminary research. The preliminary research will take place around Jabodetabek in May and June of 2024, utilizing a Google Form survey. The author analyzed the data obtained from PLS-SEM using Smart PLS 3.0. This preliminary research computed Partial Least Squares (PLS) scores and performed bootstrapping. From a statistical standpoint, social media enhances the marketing effectiveness of SMEs in Indonesia. The market's efficiency and performance demonstrate the gain. This preliminary research consists of nine variables, such as, competitor pressure, affordable marketing cost, user generated content, belief in information, customer relationship, social media marketing adoption, SMEs&rsquo; marketing engagement, and sales performance, with only one hypothesis exhibiting a non-significant relationship.</span></p> <p><span>Keywords&mdash;<em>social media marketing, SMEs, information systems, marketing engagement</em></span></p>

InfoSecSoS - Ontology for Information Security Management in Systems-of-Systems

<p>The intense transformations that have taken place in society in this decade have made information systems (IS) more complex. Such complexity relates to a category of systems defined as systems-of-systems (SoS). Although SoS offers benefits to organizations, the difficulty of Information Technology (IT) managers in dealing with information security in these systems can leave them vulnerable to threats and impacts caused by cyber attacks. Researchers consider that ontologies can be used as a solution to this problem because they define knowledge structures and promote a shared understanding of a domain, task or application. The objective of this research is to develop a domain ontology to support IT managers in decision making on information security issues in the context of SoS. For this, a systematic mapping study (SMS) was conducted to identify which information security technologies have been applied in the context of SoS. A survey research was carried out to analyze how these aspects have been perceived by specialists who work professionally in the industry or have research projects applied in real scenarios within the scope of these systems. Methodology 101 was also applied for the development of an information security domain ontology in SoS. Finally, the ontology evaluation was performed through a focus group with specialists, the ontology refinement and the feasibility study. The ontology aims to ensure the management of security knowledge in SoS and its shared understanding so that stakeholders, IT managers and their teams can avoid risks, vulnerabilities and threats in SoS. Its contribution is the standardization of concepts, terms and definitions, as well as the ease of sharing information to make more explicit assumptions and assist in the analysis of knowledge and domain relationships.</p>

<p><span>The survey method was used to collect quantitative data from a sample of the public through a questionnaire. The questionnaire method was used to collect data from a larger sample of the public through a questionnaire. The population of this study comprised the people of Jakarta who use motor vehicles. The population size was estimated to be 20,049,595 people, based on data from the Badan Pusat Statistik and Indonesiadata.id. The minimum sample size for this study was 399 respondents. The respondents were selected from among those who use motor vehicles and those who use motor vehicle financing services.</span></p>
