<p>PoeTree is a dataset comprising nearly 335,000 poems / 90,000,000 tokens in 11 languages (Czech, English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Slovenian, and Russian). <p>Por que são as Filipinas um país desconhecido para os portugueses hoje em dia? Este foi o ponto de partida da entrevista a Paulo Jorge de Sousa Pinto, investigador integrado do CHAM-Centro de Humanidades, numa conversa sobre as relações históricas entre as Filipinas e Portugal. Paulo Pinto fala sobre a imagem recíproca destes dois países, as figuras de Fernão de Magalhães e Lapu Lapu, o confronto entre a memória imaginária e a memória real, as comemorações da viagem de Magalhães e El Cano, o papel dos historiadores no estreitamento das relações entre portugueses e filipinos, os projectos académicos em curso… e as sardinhas Mabuti, produzidas em Matosinhos e as favoritas dos filipinos.</p> <p>Paulo Jorge de Sousa Pinto é coordenador do projecto «Portugal – The Philippines: Connected Histories». É doutorado em Ciências Históricas (Uni. Católica Portuguesa) com a tese intitulada «No Extremo da Redonda Esfera: Relações Luso-Castelhanas na Ásia, 1565-1640. Um Ensaio sobre os Impérios Ibéricos». Entre 2012 e 2017 foi bolseiro de pós-doutoramento pela FCT com o projecto «Conflito e Colaboração - Presenças e Representações dos Chineses Ultramarinos nas Sociedades Iberoasiáticas (séculos XVI-XIX)». As suas áreas de estudo e investigação são a Ásia do Sueste, a presença europeia na Ásia (séculos XVI-XVIII) e os impérios ultramarinos ibéricos. No próximo episódio, Teresa Nobre de Carvalho fala sobre o novo saber botânico a partir do século XVI, as diferentes formas de estudar as plantas na Ásia, América e Europa e a circulação do ananás em vários continentes.</p>
Portuguese citizen science and social media images of "Cortaderia Selloana"
<p>In the first dataset (Citizen_science_dataset), we compiled 2,273 images with <em>Cortaderia selloana</em> from the main Portuguese citizen science platform on invasive alien plants (<a href="https://invasoras.pt/">https://invasoras.pt/</a>) and iNaturalist (<a href="https://www.inaturalist.org/">https://www.inaturalist.org/</a>), from which only those containing the species with plumes (1,323) were retained. This set of 1,323 images was manually checked, and low resolution and blurred images were removed (resulting in 1,237 images). A similar number (1,237) of outdoor images without <em>Cortaderia selloana</em> (in similar context to the ones with <em>Cortaderia selloana</em>) was additionally collected from Flickr, resulting in a total of 2,474 images. </p> <p>The second dataset (Social_media_dataset) consists of publicly available images taken in Portugal from four social media platforms: Facebook (<a href="https://www.facebook.com/">https://www.facebook.com/</a>), Flickr (<a href="https://www.flickr.com/">https://www.flickr.com/</a>), Instagram (<a href="https://www.instagram.com/">https://www.instagram.com/</a>) and Twitter (<a href="https://twitter.com/">https://twitter.com/</a>). Image collection was done by searching for common names of <em>C. selloana</em> in Portuguese (e.g., “Erva das pampas”, “Capim das pampas”), as well as the scientific name of the species (i.e., “<em>Cortaderia selloana</em>”), resulting in a total of 400 images. We also collected the same number of outdoor images without the <em>C. selloana</em> from the same social media platforms). The final size of the transferability set was 800 images.</p>
