Mission Plans Synthesized by TAMAA for 4 Autonomous Agents

These are figures of the mission-plan synthesizing result obtained by running TAMAA. The experimental scenario is shown in "example.png". The path shown in "TAMAA-4 agents-path 1.png" is shorter and the agents do not go to the charging point, whereas the path in "TAMAA-4 agents-path 2.png" is longer and the agents have been to the charging point before it finishes the job.

Data from: Vocal and locomotor coordination develops in association with the autonomic nervous system

In adult animals, movement and vocalizations are coordinated, sometimes facilitating, and at other times inhibiting, each other. What is missing is how these different domains of motor control become coordinated over the course of development. We investigated how postural-locomotor behaviors may influence vocal development, and the role played by physiological arousal during their interactions. Using infant marmoset monkeys, we densely sampled vocal, postural and locomotor behaviors and estimated arousal fluctuations from electrocardiographic measures of heart rate. We found that vocalizations matured sooner than postural and locomotor skills, and that vocal-locomotor coordination improved with age and during elevated arousal levels. These results suggest that postural-locomotor maturity is not required for vocal development to occur, and that infants gradually improve coordination between vocalizations and body movement through a process that may be facilitated by arousal level changes.

Autonomous Scanning Probe Microscopy Investigations over WS2 and Au{111}

Dataset for associated publication.

Abstract:

Point defect identification in two-dimensional materials enables an understanding of the local environment within a given system, where scanning probe microscopy that takes advantage of hyperspectral tunneling bias spectroscopy acquisition can both map and identify the atomic and electronic landscape. Here, dense spectroscopic volume is collected autonomously via Gaussian process regression, where convolutional neural networks are used in tandem for defect identification. Acquired data enable image segmentation across defect modes, and a workflow is provided for both machine-driven decision making during experimentation and the capability for user customization. Where scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy can be nontrivial and time intensive, we provide a means towards autonomous experimentation for the benefit of both enhanced reproducibility and user-accessibility. Monolayer semiconductor is explored on tungsten disulfide sulfur vacancies to provide two-dimensional hyperspectral insight into available sulfur-substitution sites within a transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD), which is combined with spectral confirmation on the Au{111} herringbone reconstruction for both tip state verification and local fingerprinting. Overall, chalcogen vacancies, pristine TMD, Au face-centered cubic, and Au hexagonal close packed regions are examined and detected by machine learning methods.

Epigenetic regulation of the autonomous pathway mediates the flowering of Arabidopsis thaliana

Studies have shown that plant flowering time is affected by endogenous and exogenous factors, but the role of DNA methylation in flowering still remains unclear. Here, 27 Arabidopsis thaliana populations were used to determine how autonomous pathway gene methylation affects flowering differences by regulating gene expression patterns. DNA methylation analysis, qPCR and transgenic verification were performed. The flowering time of the Arabidopsis populations ranged from 19 to 55 days. Methylation of the coding regions of six upstream genes in the autonomous pathway, FVE, FY, FLD, PEP, HDA5 and PPR 39-1, was significantly correlated with flowering time and relative expression levels (P < 0.05). Expression of FVE and FVE(CS) separately through codon degeneracy substitution (resulting in a reduction in cytosine) led to early flowering (by 8 days and 25 days, respectively). The flowering times of the FVE and FVE(CS) transgenic plants and the Col-0 plants were associated with the number of methylated sites of FVE and FVE(CS), resulting in the differential expression of FVE and FVE(CS). Our findings suggest that the methylation of six key upstream transcription factors of the autonomous pathway in Arabidopsis regulates the expression level of these genes, leading to phenotypic differences in flowering.

He sings traditional Tibetan songs exceptionally well. He is a father of fifteen children, two of whom passed away in a car accident.

Khro rgyal confided that losing his children had made him lose interest in singing and added that most of the lyrics he once knew had faded from his memory. However, he had an excellent memory in his youth and could remember songs after hearing them only once at weddings.

Khro rgyal is also a skilled herder. His family owns nearly 500 sheep.
