<p>Supplementary materials for publication &quot;Pore-scale salinity effects on methane hydrate dissociation&quot;</p> <p>Abstract:&nbsp;Sedimentary methane gas hydrates may become a significant source of methane gas in the global energy mix for the next decades. The widespread distribution of methane hydrates, primarily in subsea sediments on continental margins, makes the crystalline compound attractive for countries with shorelines that seek self-sustainable energy. Fundamental understanding of pore-level methane hydrate distribution and dissociation pattern is important to anticipate the gas production from hydrate reservoirs. Especially the effect of local salinity gradients on dissociation characteristics must be understood as the aqueous phase in most reservoirs is saline. We evaluate the pore-level salinity effect on hydrate dissociation experimentally using silicon-wafer micro-models capable of withstanding high internal pressures. Methane hydrates were formed with brines for a range of salinities (0.0, 2.0, 3.5 and 5.0 wt% NaCl), and we study hydrate dissociation during both depressurization and thermal stimulation, which currently are the most cost-effective production methods. The laboratory results show how initial pore-scale hydrate distribution prior to dissociation affect the melting and mobilization of gas. The local pore-water salinities influenced the stability of the hydrate structure, and led to distinct dissociation patterns due to water freshening.</p>

Modeling of the Nup84 subcomplex of the Nuclear Pore Complex

<p>These scripts demonstrate the use of IMP, MODELLER, and PMI in the modeling of the Nup84 complex using 286 DSS/EDC chemical cross-links and an electron microscopy (EM) 2D class average.</p> <p>First, MODELLER is used to generate initial structures for the individual components in the Nup84 complex. Then, IMP is used to model these components using DSS/EDC crosslinks and the electron microscopy 2D class average for the entire Nup84 complex.</p> <p>For more information about how to reproduce this modeling, see <a href="https://salilab.org/nup84">the Sali lab website</a> or the README file.</p>

Data for "To heal or not to heal? Part I: The effect of pore fluid pressure on the frictional healing behavior of Oklahoma lithologies"

<p>This dataset includes the original data files for each experiment in csv format, the mat version with an additional friction column, the hold picks, the velocity step picks, and the RSFitting results. They have the following names:</p> <ul> <li>UC####.csv</li> <li>UC####.mat</li> <li>UC##_hold_picks.mat</li> <li>UC##_healing_picks.mat</li> <li>UC##_VS_RSFit.mat</li> </ul> <p>The CSV and mat files include the on-sample shear displacement data labeled LVDT1 and LVDT2 and the on-sample radial displacement data labeled LVDT3. All data files except for the RSFit include an OG_Index column which is consistent across files for each experiment, such that it provides a unique indicator for each datapoint. Note that all experiment numbers are available in the main text, except for UC0094, which is shown in the supplement text S6.</p>
