Cybercrime and Online Safety: Addressing the Challenges and Solutions Related to Cybercrime, Online Fraud, and Ensuring a Safe Digital Environment for All Users— A Case of African States
<h3><strong>Abstract</strong></h3><p>The internet has made the world more linked than ever before. While taking advantage of this online transition, cybercriminals target flaws in online systems, networks, and infrastructure. Businesses, government organizations, people, and communities all across the world, particularly in African countries, are all severely impacted on an economic and social level. Many African countries focused more on developing secure electricity and internet networks; yet, cybersecurity usually receives less attention than it should. One of Africa's major issues is the lack of adequate digital security infrastructure, which has harmed businesses, governmental institutions, and individual communities more than it has helped. The majority of African countries operate without cybersecurity measures in place to combat cyberattacks. Only a few examples of today's cyber risks include digital extortion, business email intrusion, data breaches, online fraud, ransomware, and phishing, and new types of cybercrime are always developing. Due to the advent of new technology, cybercriminals have become more organized and quicker in their attacks and alliance creation. To maintain a secure digital environment for all internet users, this study focused on the challenges, solutions, and need for African countries to improve their online safety by tackling cybercrime, online fraud, and cybersecurity concerns. The objective of this study is to offer practical and long-term answers to the problems posed by cybercrime, with a continuing emphasis on enhancing online safety. It will assess the effectiveness of cutting-edge cybersecurity measures, legislative frameworks, and cross-border cooperative efforts, as well as potential areas for improvement. Additionally, the study will examine cutting-edge methods like blockchain technology, machine learning, and other cutting-edge methods that could improve our using digital defences to stop cybercrime.</p>

Improving birth preparation with the hypnosis online course "The Peaceful Birth": A randomized controlled study
<div> <div> <div> <p>Various factors affect the way an expectant mother experiences the birth of her child. Birth-related expectations, fears, and stress play a significant role. Additionally, pain sensation during labor is a predominant factor in the overall experience of childbirth. Hypnosis is a well-known and effective method to reduce anxiety and pain. It has become increasingly popular in recent years as a method of childbirth preparation. The present study examines if the hypnosis online course "The Peaceful Birth" improves childbirth expectations and the birth experience itself. In addition, we investigate if the hypnosis online course improves well-being and reduces fear and stress throughout pregnancy and after birth. Our study included 221 pregnant women who were pseudo-randomly assigned to a hypnosis and a control group. We provided participants in the hypnosis group with the hypnosis online course “The Peaceful Birth” for self-use throughout pregnancy, during childbirth, and beyond. The control group did not have access to the hypnosis online course. At four measurement points, we surveyed all study participants about various aspects of pregnancy and childbirth. We utilized standardized questionnaires, including the Wijma Delivery Expectancy/Experience Questionnaire to assess childbirth expectations and experiences, as well as the Perceived Stress Scale to measure stress experiences.The data show that the hypnosis group perceived significantly less stress and childbirth expectations were significantly more positive compared to the control group after they started to use the hypnosis online course. Subjective health ratings in the hypnosis group improved significantly compared to the control group in the period before childbirth. Furthermore, women in the hypnosis group described the childbirth experience itself as significantly more positive concerning fear, loneliness, and self-efficacy. We show that the improvement of the childbirth experience is causally related to more positive childbirth expectations. However, there were no significant group differences in the experience of pain.Our study demonstrates that the hypnosis online course “The Peaceful Birth” significantly improved both the anticipation and the actual childbirth experience. Our findings are in line with previous evidence showing the effectiveness of hypnosis-based childbirth preparation. The hypnosis online course is therefore an efficient low-threshold method to enhance the healthcare for expectant mothers.</p> </div> </div> </div>

Moving academic conferences online: understanding patterns of delegate engagement
Scientific conferences are a key component of academic communication and development. During the COVID-19 pandemic in-person conferences are rapidly moving online, yet these virtual events may not provide the same opportunities as in-person conferences. If virtual meetings are to continue to provide effective communication and networking between researchers and stakeholders, they must be adapted to increase delegate engagement and enthusiasm. Here we present a case study of a recent medium-sized online conference. We assessed the behaviour and engagement of delegates with different components of the meeting using data from website analytics and post-conference surveys. Behaviour was variable across the available events, with talks being particularly popular but engagement with social and networking opportunities was variable. Our conclusions have been summarised in six recommendations to support future online conference organisers in enhancing engagement with their events.

<p>"Minden pillanat a morális helytállás pillanata".</p> <p>A nyolcvanéves Varga Csaba professzort köszöntötték születésnapján, május 25-én az egyetem Jog- és Államtudományi Karán.</p> <p>Kuminetz Géza rektor atya gratulált a fiatalosságát ebben az életkorban is megőrző professzornak. <em>„Ez nyilván nemcsak szerencse kérdése, hanem minden bizonnyal az egészséges életmódnak, az igazi, magas szintű intellektuális érdeklődésnek is köszönhető."</em><br> Az egyetem nevében elmondott köszöntőjében emlékeztetett arra, hogy idősebb korában az ember óhatatlanul arra is gondol: amit alkotott vagy még alkotni fog, vajon maradandó lesz-e, talál-e benne az utókor tápláló eszmei magvakat, <em>„mert a tudomány embere a tudomány igazságainak az örökkévalóságán igyekszik dolgozni"</em>.<br> A rektor atya köszönetét fejezte ki azért, mert Varga professzor munkássága során – más jelentős kérdések mellett, a Horváth Sándor domonkos szerzetes fémjelezte jogi gondolkodás mentén – a természetjog kutatásával foglalkozott. <em>„A keresztény gondolkodót különösen foglalkoztatja a kérdés, hogy vajon tudományos munkássága által önmaga jobbá, bölcsebbé vált-e, személyiségét harmonikusabbá tette-e? Békesség lakozik-e benne?"</em><br> Kuminetz Géza azt kívánta, hogy az ünnepelt igenlő választ adhasson ezekre a kérdésekre, <em>„mert akkor elnyeri azt a békességet, amelyet az ember a földön munkálkodásával elérhet, és ha eljön a nap, mint érett gyümölcs tud leszakadni a Teremtés fáján"</em>.<br> Szabó István, a JÁK dékánja emlékeztetett: a professzor életének több, mint fél évszázada <em>„komoly szakmai pályát fed le"</em>. Ezt tanúsítja, utalva a Jogtudományi Intézetben végzett munkásságára és politikaközeli tanácsadói szerepvállalására, hogy az ünneplésnek akár a Magyar Tudományos Akadémia, akár a miniszterelnökség vagy a Parlament ugyanúgy otthon adhatna.<br> Varga professzor, folytatta a dékán, több, mint negyed százada ott volt a Kar alapítói között, és ma is a professzori kar oszlopos tagja. Végül úgy fogalmazott: <em>„Az ünnepelt szakmai felkészültsége nem átlagos egyetemi tanári szintet ért el, hanem annál lényegesen magasabbat."</em><br> Varga Csaba professzor élete és szakmai pályafutása néhány eseményét és morális következtetéseit tárta hallgatói elé. A kezdeti időket így idézte: <em>„Bujdosó életformára kellett készülnöm, ahol az ember nyilvánosan nem adhatja ki önmagát."</em><br> Vezetőként azt szűrte le: mindenki azért vagy felelős, amit megtehet. <em>„Nem szabad sem a jutalmat nézni, sem azt, hogy esetleg milyen hátránnyal jár egy-egy döntés. Minden körülmények között igényesnek kell lenni, az igényességgel pedig meggyőződésre szükséges törekedni, és ha az ember meggyőződéssel megteszi, amit lehet, akkor a többi már nem az ő dolga, a többi – ha szabad így mondanom – az Úristené."</em><br> Mindenki nehéz korszakban születik, és annak kihívásaira magának kell válaszolnia. Elvileg nincs könnyű válasz, és mindenkinek a személyisége ezen válaszokból kovácsolódik ki.<br> <em>„Magam a szélsőségek szorításába születtem bele. Ebben a helyzetben kíséreltem meg az optimum, a középút, a vállalható moralitás megtalálását. Számomra nem langyos folyamban lavírozást jelent az élet, hanem azt, hogy az ember a még éppen elérhetőt tűzi ki célul."</em><br> A jog állapota – és ez már jogfilozófiai gondolat – nem a rutinban mutatkozik meg, hanem abban, hogyan válaszol a határhelyzetekben a jog.<em> „Én is ennek megfelelően igyekeztem gondolkodásomat formálni."</em><br> Megemlítette az Antall József miniszterelnök mellett betöltött tanácsadói szerepét, <em>„amikor folyamatokat kellett modellezni, és amilyen döntés parancsolódott végül, annak nem haboztam mellé állni"</em>.<br> Gondolkodásának és erkölcsi meggyőződésének illusztrálására huszadik századi történelmi példákat idézett. Említette az 1990-es jogi lehetőségeket az igazságtétellel kapcsolatban, és hogy az akkor meghozott kormányzati döntésnek milyen máig ható következményei vannak.<br> A professzor ma is hatalmas lehetőségnek látja a katolikus egyetem létrejöttét. Felidézte ennek előtörténetét, az akkori időket kísérő eufórikus hangulatot. Ugyanakkor föltette a kérdést: vajon kiaknázták-e az egyetem létrejöttében rejlő lehetőségeket?<br> Az életet komolyan kell venni – jelentette ki. „Mindannyiunk tartóoszlopa személyes hitünk és személyes tudásunk. Súlyos pillanatokként kell megélni az életet, amelyben elvileg minden pillanat a morális helytállás pillanata."<br> Végül így összegezett:<em> „Életünk egyszeri és megismételhetetlen. Feltehetjük magunknak a kérdést: érdemes-e másként, jobbra törekedve élnünk?
