Global monthly water temperature dataset, derived from dynamical 1-D water-energy routing model (DynWat) at 10 km spatial resolution

<pre>Global 10km spatial resolution water temperature dataset at the global scale for all major rivers, lakes and reservoirs. Data are provided at a monthly temporal resolution.</pre> <p>V1.1 update includes a improved version of the model removing some initial spikes related to rapid ice melt and streams that fall dry. The record has been reduced from 1981 tot 2014 to remove potential spinup impacts.</p> <p>The 1960-2010 data from v1.0 can be used for the earlier years.</p> <p>Consistent forcing is used for both time periods to remove potential biases that might occur otherwise.</p>

Figure 1: Het d: X→ A-Brain Functors: A mathematical model of intentional perception and action

<p>In the body of this paper, I will try to keep the mathematics at a minimal conceptual level&ndash; which the mathematical formulations restricted to the Appendix. Category theory lends itself to visualization in diagrams so that non-mathematical style of presentation is emphasized by an abundant use of diagrams. A category is intuitively a set of objects of the same type. Morphisms between objects should be thought of as a type of determining relation or cause-effect relation between the objects. When a morphism is between objects of the same category, it is called a homomorphism or hom, and when between objects of different categories it is a heteromorphism or het.4 One of the problems in the conventional treatment of category theory5 is that it tries to ignore heteromorphisms even though hets are a natural part of working mathematics. This leads to certain definitions being rather contrived (to avoid mentioning hets), the usual treatment of the universal mapping properties in adjunctions being the case in point. Adjunctions will be introduced informally and in the natural manner using hets. The general setting is how the objects in one category (e.g., the &quot;environment&quot; in a life sciences context), the &quot;sending&quot; category, will &quot;affect&quot; or &quot;determine&quot; objects in another category (e.g., &quot;organisms&quot;), the &quot;receiving&quot; category. We start with an object X in the sending category, an object A in the receiving category, and a specific het determination d : X &rarr; A from X to A.6</p>

Comparison between ozone column depths and methane lifetimes computed by 1-D and 3-D models at different atmospheric O2 Levels

<p>Recently, Cooke et al. (2022) used a 3-D coupled chemistry-climate model (WACCM6) to calculate ozone column depths at varied atmospheric O2 levels. They argued that previous 1-D photochemical model studies, e.g., Segura et al. (2003), may have overestimated the ozone column depth at low pO2, and hence also overestimated the lifetime of methane. We have compared new simulations from an updated version of the Segura et al. model with those from WACCM6, together with some results from another 1-D and 3-D model. The discrepancy in ozone column depths is likely due to multiple interacting parameters, including lower boundary conditions, vertical and meridional transport rates, and different chemical mechanisms, especially the treatment of O2 photolysis in the Schumann-Runge (SR) bands (175-205 nm). The discrepancy in tropospheric OH concentrations and methane lifetime between WACCM6 and the 1-D model at low pO2 is reduced when absorption from CO2 and H2O in this wavelength region is included in WACCM6. Including scattering in the SR bands may further reduce this difference. Resolving these issues can be accomplished by developing an accurate parameterization for O2 photolysis in the SR bands and then repeating these calculations in the various models. Work is already underway to this end.</p>

Data underpinning "Disorder-induced spin-charge separation in the 1-D Hubbard model"

<p>Many-body localisation is believed to be generically unstable in quantum systems with continuous non-Abelian symmetries, even in the presence of strong disorder. Breaking these symmetries can stabilise the localised phase, leading to the emergence of an extensive number of quasi-locally conserved quantities known as local integrals of motion, or l-bits. Using a sophisticated non-perturbative technique based on continuous unitary transforms, we investigate the one-dimensional Hubbard model subject to both spin and charge disorder, compute the associated l-bits and demonstrate that the disorder gives rise to a novel form of spin-charge separation. We examine the role of symmetries in delocalising the spin and charge degrees of freedom, and show that while symmetries generally lead to delocalisation through multi-particle resonant processes, certain subsets of states appear stable.</p>
