Autonomy Is An Acquired Taste: Exploring Developer Preferences for GitHub Bots

<p>Software bots are an important part of software development, and the rise of AI-based code tools will make them even more important. Software bots can do many tasks, and can exhibit a range of interaction behaviors in a project.&nbsp; But in order for the bot to be effective, it must be accepted by the developers and project community with which the bot interacts.&nbsp; The main purpose of this study&nbsp;is to enumerate some of these factors, and to explain what leads to perceived bad behavior in the context of a bot&#39;s autonomous actions and persona.&nbsp;We find developers prefer bots which are personable but show little autonomy. This dataset contains the replication package of the study.&nbsp;For Phase I, we shared the full and detailed interview guide, anonymized interview transcripts, and the result of the data analysis, i.e., codebook. For Phase II, the survey design and data.&nbsp;<br> &nbsp;</p>

Data from: Remodeling male coercion and the evolution of sexual autonomy by mate choice

<p><span>Models of sexual conflict over mating, including conflict over indirect benefits of mate choice, have generally presumed that female resistance to male coercion must involve direct confrontation, which can lead to sexually antagonistic co-evolutionary arms-races. We built a quantitative model examining the largely ignored possibility that females may evolve new, additional mate preferences for new male traits that undermine male capacity to coerce. Thus, females may "remodel" the coercive capacity of the male phenotype in order to enhance their own sexual autonomy – a novel alternative mechanism by which females may avoid arms-races. We demonstrate that evolutionary "remodeling" is possible, in spite of costs to males, because females that prefer males with protective, autonomy-enhancing traits (traits correlated with lower coercion effectiveness) are likelier to gain indirect benefits of having attractive mates. Our analysis reveals new possibilities for the evolution of systems of sexual conflict over indirect benefits, showing that </span><span>autonomy-enhancing male traits </span><span>can act as a "public good," benefiting all females regardless of mating preferences, leading to oscillatory dynamics; and that preferences for more protective male traits will often be favored relative to preferences for less protective traits, potentially leading to an evolutionary "snowball" of expanding sexual autonomy.</span></p>

Women's view on shared decision making and autonomy in childbirth: Cohort study of Belgian women.

<p>This is a prospective, non-interventional study to explore the birth experience of Flemish women. A self-assembled questionnaire was used to collect data, including the Pregnancy and Childbirth Questionnaire (PCQ), the Labor Agenty Scale (LAS), the Mothers Autonomy Decision Making Scale (MADM),the 9-item Shared Decision Making Questionnaire (SDM&ndash;Q9) and four questions on preparation for childbirth. Women who gave birth two to twelve months ago were recruited by means of social media in the Flemish area (Northern part of Belgium).</p> <p>Linear mixed-effect modelling with backwards variable selection was applied to examine relations with autonomy in decision making.</p> <p>In total, 1029 mothers participated in this study of which 617 filled out the survey completely.&nbsp;Data were saved with IBM&reg; SPSS&reg; (version 25).</p>

Artifact Demonstration Video for Negotiating Autonomy in Cyber-Physical Systems at Run Time

<p>This artifact demonstration video shows a novel approach to dynamically negotiate autonomy in Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). As CPS become increasingly integrated into our daily lives, sharing autonomy between human operators and autonomous agents within these systems becomes a critical issue. Business case developers also face the design and integration of CPS. Our research presents a novel architecture and methodology that seamlessly enables this sharing of autonomy. We aim to encourage business case developers to consider autonomic CPS. The video provides an insightful overview of our approach and highlights its practicality. It illustrates how our system enables business case developers to back CPS with a mechanism to negotiate and share autonomy at runtime. Our artifact demonstration video is not only a good opportunity to visually grasp the concept of negotiating autonomy in CPS, but also to experience the practical implementation of this approach. It serves as a valuable resource for researchers, engineers, and anyone interested in understanding the future of sharing autonomy in the context of cyber-physical systems.</p>

Replication Package of ``The Impacts of Managerial Autonomy on Firm Outcomes"

<p>The paper &ldquo;The Impacts of&nbsp;Managerial Autonomy on Firm Outcomes&rdquo; uses a combination of newly collected data, and proprietary data. All of the former&nbsp;data used in the paper have been included here. The latter is the Center for Monitoring the&nbsp;Indian Economy&rsquo;s (CMIE) Prowess dataset (CMIE, 2021), which is commercially available. This replication package includes raw and cleaned data&nbsp;that I digitized for the project, as well as <span>simulated</span> data to replace the Prowess data, to be able to replicate the code. <p>This dataset contains 3150 data of four sEMG characteristics: muscle activity, zero crossing, enhanced wavelength and enhanced mean absolute value. while performing seven grasp types. Data were recorded using surface EMG electrodes from seven representative forearm areas.&nbsp;</p> <p>Data are presented as a&nbsp; Matlab data structure (<em>.mat</em>&nbsp;file). This structure contains the four sEMG characteristics classified as: subject, grasp, repetition and spot area.
