<p>This collection is different from all the preceding ones, since a considerable number of the usual items are entirely missing, and some altogether new parts have been introduced.</p>
<p>The copy contains:</p>
<p>1.Bûstân, on fol. 1<sup>b</sup>, beginning: بنام جهاندار جان آفرين الخ</p>
<p>2.Gulistân, on fol. 74<sup>b</sup>.</p>
<p>3.Dîwân, consisting of:</p>
<p><em>a</em>. Persian ḳaṣidas, on fol. 131<sup>b</sup>, beginning: اوّل دفتر الخ.</p>
<p><em>b</em>.Tarjî’ât, on fol. 153<sup>a</sup> margin, beginning:</p>
<p>در عهد تو ای نگار دلبند-بس عهد که بشکند وسوگند</p>
<p>(corresponding to the second poem in No. 1117 in this Cat., fol. 346<sup>b</sup>).</p>
<p><em>c</em>. Ghazals, in alphabetical order, on fol. 158<sup>b</sup>, comprising, as the same part in Nos. 1120 and 1121 in this Cat. does, the Ṭayyibât, Badâ’i’, Khawâtîm, and early ghazals; the initial ghazal is the second in No. 1121, fol. 207<sup>a</sup>:</p>

<p><em>d</em>. Muḳaṭṭ’ât, on fol. 278<sup>a</sup>, beginning likewise as in No. 1121: سخن بذكر تو الخ.</p>
<p><em>e</em>.Rubâ’îs, on fol. 285<sup>b</sup>, beginning, as in No. 1121: (in No. 1121 جهانرا ) خداونديست تدبيردهانرا .</p>
<p>4.The <em>second risâlah</em>, in five مجلس , on fol. 293<sup>b</sup>, beginning:.الحمد لله الذى خلق الوجود الخ</p>
<p>5.Another risâlah, on fol. 304<sup>b</sup>, which contains, like the usual <em>third risâlah</em>, a story not by Sa’dî himself, but referring to the poet’s intercourse with renowned personages (see Bacher’s remark in his ‘Sa’dî-Studien,’ p. 85), but different in wording from the <em>third</em> in the preceding copies; it begins: اى دل مجرّد طريقت طريقت وسالك كوى حقيقت شهباز جانباز هماى ره شيراز مصلح الدين سعدى شيرازى عليه الرّحمة و الغفران ميگوید بگوش هوش بشنو الخ.</p>
<p>6.The <em>fifth</em> <em>risâlah</em>, در نصيحة الملوك, on fol. 307<sup>b</sup>, beginning here: الحمد لله و هوا لى من حمد ثمّ الصّلوة على رسول الله افضل الخ.</p>
<p>7.Pandnâma (پندنامه), or book of counsels, also called, from the word with which it begins, Karîmâ (كريما) or Kitâb-i-Karîmâ; beginning, on fol. 313<sup>b</sup> :</p>
<p>كريما ببخشاى بر حال ما – كه هستم اسير كمند هوا</p>
<p>The authorship of Sa’dî with regard to this didactic mathnawî, which is apparently composed after the model of Farîd-aldîn ‘Aṭṭâr’s Pandnâma, has been much disputed; it is not included in Bîsutûn’s (or <em>Ibn</em> Bisutûn’s) edition; on the other hand, as Rieu ii. p. 865<sup>b</sup> has shown, it has been ascribed to Sa’dî as early as A.H. 842 (A.D. 1438, 1439), and it is found in the Calcutta edition (fol. ٢٠٠ sq.); other text-editions (printed or lithographed): in Gladwin’s Persian Moonshee (with English translation), 1801; revised edition, by W.C. Smyth, 1840; see also Rousseau, Flowers of Persian Literature, London, 1801, and the Persian and Reader, vol. i, Calcutta, 1835, pp. 78-97; Persian and Hindûstânî, ib., 1829; Persian with Latin translation, by Geitlin, Helsingfors, 1835; Calcutta, A.H. 1242 and 1270 (with Rekhta translation) in the ‘Persian Primer,’ Lucknow, A.H. 1263, 1264, etc.; Lahore, 1887; Bombay, 1887; Agra, 1887; Cawnpore, 1888, etc. An older English translation, Calcutta, 1788. <p>9.Khabîthât (or Muṭâyabât), here wrongly styled Hazliyyât, on fol. 324<sup>b</sup>, beginning with the usual prose-preface: قال السّعدى الزمنى الخ.</p>
<p>No date. There are wanting in this copy the usual risâlas, except the second and the fifth; the Marâthî, Mufradât, Hazliyyât, Ṣâḥibiyyah, Mulamma’ât, Muḍḥikât, and the Arabic ḳaṣîdas.</p>
