It concludes on fol. 97b, and is dated the 12th of Dhû-alḳa’dah, in the first year of Jahândârshâh’s reign (=A.H. 1124, A.D. 1712, Dec. 11). As this little glossary follows in the same MS. immediately upon the مفتاح گلستان, by Uwais bin ‘Alâ-aldîn Âdam (see Nos. 1176-1179 in this Cat.), it may be due to the same author, who flourished about A.H. 900 (A.D. 1494, 1495).</p> <p>This كليد is followed, on ff. 98-106b, by another short glossary, likewise to the Bûstân, arranged, without alphabetical order, according to the single chapters of Sa’di’s poem; but there are quoted only eight chapters; the last two seem to be missing. Beginning:پوزش عذر (عزيز.MS) و معذرت الخ at the end a fragment of a تعبير نامه.</p> <p>Copied A.H. 1148 (A.D. 1735, 1736).</p> <p>No. 1840, ff. 91-107, ll. 13; clear Nasta’lîḳ; size, 83/8 in. by 6 in.</p> <p> </p>

<ul> <li><strong>Kalîd-i-dîwân-i-Ḥâfiż.</strong></li> <li><strong>This manuscript is now IO Islamic 1273 in the India Office collections.</strong></li> <li><strong>[metadata:</strong> <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Hermann_Eth%C3%A9"><strong>Hermann Ethé</strong></a><strong><em>, </em></strong><a href="http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1323681"><strong><em>Catalogue of Persian Manuscripts in the Library of the India Office,</em></strong> </a><a href="http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1323681"><strong>2 vols. It also consists of two parts, for although the colophon appears already at the end of the first part, there cannot be any doubt that the following alphabetical glossary belongs, as second part, to the same work. The author׳s name seems to be Nûr Muḥammad (see fol. 21b: فقير حقير نور محمّد), who may be identical with Mîr Muḥammad Nûr-allâh Aḥrârî, the commentator of the mathnawî (see No. 1104 above). The first part contains, like the muḳaddimah of the preceding كليد, an explanation of mystical terms and phrases in twenty short bâbs, beginning, on fol. 21b: حمد و ثناى مر حضرت الهى خالقى را كه الخ .</p> <p>The second part, an alphabetical glossary for the difficult and rare words, especially the Arabic ones, which are found in Ḥâfiż’ poems, begins, on fol. 38b:</p> <p>افواه دهنها استعانت يارى خواستن الخ.</p> <p>No date. Copied by the same Fakhr-aldîn.</p> <p>No. 1840, ff. 21-48, ll. 13; very careless Nasta’lîḳ; size, 83/8 in. by 6 in.</p> <p> </p>
