<p>Wikipedia is an ongoing endeavor to create a free encyclopedia through an open computer-mediated collaborative effort. How does Wikipedia grow and maintain its coverage? This can be explained by the fact that referring to an non-existing entry typically leads to the establishment of an article for it. Wikipedia&#39;s evolution also demonstrates the creation of a large real world scale-free graph through a combination of incremental growth and preferential attachment.</p> <p>Though this data set you can download the processed results. Knowledge Discovery from Porous Organic Cages Literature Using a Large Language Model

<p>This article presents a GPT-4-based literature reading method that incorporates multi-label text classification and a follow-up information extraction, in which the potential of GPT-4 can be fully exploited to rapidly extract valid information from the literature. In the process of multi-label text classification, the prompt-engineered GPT-4 demonstrated the ability to label text with proper recall rates according to the type of information contained in text, including authors, affiliations, synthetic procedures, surface area, and the CCDC number of corresponding cages. Additionally, GPT-4 demonstrated proficiency in information extraction, effectively transforming labeled text into concise tabulated data. Furthermore, we built a chatbot based on this database, allowing for quick and comprehensive searching across the entire database and responding for cage-related questions.</p>

Cloud computing is one of the most popular and sophisticated technologies adopted by organizations worldwide. Some world-leading organizations enhance their efficiency and effectiveness by using cloud computing technology. Working from home (WFH) has been a popular trend among organizations during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The COVID-19 saw a breakthrough in work cultures and environments where working from home was a remarkable success in remote working environments, despite being a rare phenomenon in Sri Lanka. Yet, it is argued that the deployment of work from home has not been effective among Sri Lankan business organizations due to a lack of IT infrastructure, facilities, and knowledge. The purpose of the study is to investigate the impact of cloud computing, embracing the service models (Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service, and Software as a Service) as theoretical lenses and testing the COVID-19 as the moderator. The study has been conducted based on a deductive approach and adopted a stratified random sampling method. The sample consisted of 384 IT employees among those who had experienced working from home. The study utilized multiple regression and found that cloud computing service models significantly impact work from home with the moderating effect of COVID-19.

BIOFRUITNET - Boosting Innovation in Organic FRUIT production through knowledge NETworks - WP2 - Database of ready for practice materials

<p>In the project BIOFRUITNET (Boosting Innovation in Organic FRUIT production through knowledge NETworks, HORIZON 2020 Grant Agreement No. 862850), WP2, a database of technical and scientific publications concerning plant health care have been compiled. The materials in the database were collected by participants in the project (SLU, HortiAdvice, UCPH, GRAB, FIBL, F&Ouml;KO, INHORT, VSUO, LAIMBURG, CIHEM-IAMB, ECOVALIA). Materials were chosen for their relevance to organic fruit growers and advisors. The materials in the collection are describing ready for practice methods and tools, covering <strong>stone fruits, pome fruits and citrus fruits</strong>, within the selected main topics: <strong>pests, plant diseases and plant nutrition</strong>. Materials were collected from March to September 2020. Modelling knowledge organization systems and structures

<p>In the last few decades, knowledge organization systems (KOS), especially thesauri,<br> classification schemes and lists of subject headings, have largely followed or conformed<br> with the established data models defined by standards, recommendations or best practices.<br> This long list contains some widely used models, such as ISO5964 Part 1, ISO2788, Z39.19,<br> BS 5723 and BS 6723, (Dextre Clarke, 2008) IFLA Principles Underlying Subject Heading<br> Languages (SHLs), and MARC 21 Format for Classification Data.<br> The FRSAD (Functional Requirements for Subject Authority Data) conceptual model is<br> the third member of the FRBR family, developed under the auspices of IFLA. The report<br> was approved in 2010 and will be published in 2011. FRSAD is a general conceptual model<br> that focuses on the subject relationship and therefore provides a theoretical framework for<br> all KOS and their data models. In addition, it also assists in the assessment of the potential<br> for international sharing and (re)use of subject authority data both within the library sector<br> and beyond.<br> In this paper FRSAD is compared to SKOS and SKOS XL as data models (with implementa-<br> tion examples).</p>

Knowledge organization systems and their consequences for information retrieval

<p>Traditionally, research on knowledge organization systems (KOS) and information retrieval discussed the relative advantages or disadvantages of using controlled vocabularies versus free-text or intellectual indexing versus automatic indexing methods for indexing and search. Experiments and case studies variously showed the superiority of either approach without reaching a final conclusion on this seemingly basic question. As full-text indexing has become more possible and now prevalent, the discussion of the relative merits of KOS &ndash; not only&nbsp;as substitute but in combination with full-text &ndash; was not settled but continued with new challenges. With the advent of the Semantic Web, KOS (now appearing as ontologies) became important tools in new information retrieval applications and were pushed once again to the research forefront. With different disciplines working in the field, the terminology around KOS has become more and more ambiguous up to the point that tracing research in the literature is difficult &ndash; ironically something that traditional KOS have always tried to mitigate.<br> This paper summarizes recent discussions of the impact of KOS on information retrieval and attempts to show and unify different research strands from library science research on subject indexing, information retrieval and the Semantic Web. Whereas earlier impact studies on retrieval resulted in clearly measurable outcomes (for example changes in precision/recall), recent use of KOS in Semantic Web applications or other information systems has switched from pure search scenarios to exploration (browse) and contextualization, for which clear (and calculable) evaluation or quality standards and&nbsp;</p>

Reflections on knowledge, communication and knowledge organization overtime

<p>Moments after mankind started to make moveable physical records describing the world about them people started to store and arrange the records in logical order. Thereafter, records were copied and translated and simple catalogues of collections were compiled. Others, working from these records and from oral sources compiled lists, dictionaries and encyclopaedias. As the means of communication developed from the first revolutionary invention of writing to other revolutions in communication methods, notably printing with moveable type and the computer, techniques of knowledge organization became more sophisticated and powerful. In the first half of the 21st Century we are faced with an unprecedented communications overload and the full range of knowledge organization techniques need to be deployed, further developed and applied.</p>

Epistemic communities in knowledge organization: an analysis of research trends in the Knowledge Organization journal

<p><span>Considering knowledge organization as a domain in a continuous process of theoretical-methodological consolidation, it becomes important to identify its epistemological configuration and &ldquo;epistemic communities&rdquo; in order to measure its impact on society and scholarship. As a reflection of the ISKO and knowledge organization activities, the Knowledge Organization (KO) journal was analysed for the period 1994-2014 in order to identify and characterise the core of researchers that the knowledge organization community consider as central and more impactful. In addition, we analysed the impact of this literature on the LIS scientific domain as a whole, by means of the presence of such literature also in scholarly journals other than KO. The results reveal that the consolidation process of the KO domain and the epistemic communities&rsquo; progress occur in a dynamic and well-balanced way with a strong and widespread impact on the LIS scientific context as a whole. The dynamic and evolving nature of these groups, with citations growing in number and new authors slowly emerging for each period, makes it possible to conclude that the ISKO epistemic communities and their impact are not only changing but also expanding.</span></p>

FEDORA. Artifacts from two study groups on inter/multi/transdisciplinary forms of knowledge organization and multi-actor contexts of knowledge construction

The basic artifacts are jamboard used to collect and share experiences of interdisciplianity in terms of: barriers, features of good interdisciplinarity experiences, interdisciplinary skills, forms of knowledge organization.</p> <p>The study groups involved 14 participants with diverse backgrounds (physics, chemistry, educational science, management, mathematics, philosophy, history of science, sociology, science communication). Knowledge organization systems as enablers to the conduct of science

<p>The sophistication of knowledge organization systems (KOS) has evolved rapidly over the&nbsp;past thirty years, largely driven by information technology innovations. Two key assumptions have been (a) that KOS-work is the preserve of information professionals acting as&nbsp;skilled intermediaries, and (b) that it is largely focused on enabling the finding and discovery&nbsp;of information. This paper challenges both assumptions with reference to the conduct of&nbsp;science in the 21st century, by describing the ways in which access to KOS skills and tools&nbsp;is already broadening beyond information professionals to scientists, and by describing&nbsp;how knowledge organization systems enable sense-making of trends within science and&nbsp;new knowledge creation, beyond simple access and discovery roles. It closes with remarks&nbsp;on the implications for information professionals engaged in KOS-related work.</p>

<p>LIS developed its own very successful solutions for the classification and search of documents. In KO, search is focused on document properties (e.g. title, author, subject). KO tends to fail in situations when users express their needs in terms of entity properties (e.g., of the author).</p> <p>The usefulness of moving from KO to KR</p> <p>KO is methodologically very strong, but subjects are limited in formality and expressiveness as, by employing classification ontologies, &nbsp;it only supports queries by document properties.<br> KR, by employing descriptive ontologies, supports queries by any entity property, but it is methodologically weaker than KO.<br> We propose the DERA* faceted KR approach<br> DERA, being faceted, allows the development of high quality and scalable descriptive ontologies<br> DERA, being a KR approach, allows modeling relevant entities of the domain and their E/R/A properties and enables automated reasoning.<br> It supports a highly expressive search of documents exploiting entity properties.<br> * DERA is a KR approach as it models entities of a domain (D) by their entity classes (E), relations (R) and attributes (A)</p>

New Ways of Mapping Knowledge Organization Systems. Using a Semi­Automatic Matching­Procedure for Building Up Vocabulary Crosswalks

<p>Abstract: Crosswalks between different vocabularies are an indispensable prerequisite for&nbsp;integrated and high&shy;quality search scenarios in distributed data environments. Offered through&nbsp;the web and linked with each other they act as a central link so that users could move back and&nbsp;forth between different data sources being online available.<br> In the past, crosswalks between different thesauri have been primarily developed manually. In&nbsp;the long run the intellectual updating of such crosswalks requires huge personnel expenses.&nbsp;Therefore, an integration of automatic matching procedures, as for example Ontology Matching&nbsp;Tools, seems pretty obvious.<br> On the basis of computer&shy;generated correspondences between the Thesaurus for&nbsp;Economics (STW) and the Thesaurus for the Social Sciences (TheSoz) our contribution will&nbsp;explore cross&shy;border approaches between IT&shy;assisted tools and procedures on the one hand<br> and external quality measurements via domain experts on the other hand. Thus, we will present&nbsp;techniques to semi&shy;automatically perform vocabulary crosswalks. Due to intellectually evaluated&nbsp;results of multiple matching tools in the forerun, quality statements concerning the reliability of&nbsp;further computer&shy;generated crosswalks can be made. This way, the application of various tools&nbsp;and procedures gradually contributes to an increase in quality. Moreover, on the long&shy;term it&nbsp;facilitates a continuous update of high&shy;quality vocabulary crosswalks.</p>

Rigorous facet analysis as the basis for constructing all types of knowledge organization scheme

<p>Construction of any kind of knowledge organization system starts from the fundamental building blocks, which are concepts. Once a representative set of concepts has been chosen and each one clearly defined, their hierarchical relationships can be established. Fundamental facets emerge from these hierarchies. In a post-coordinate scheme, such as a thesaurus, associative&nbsp;relationships between concepts in different facets can be defined. In a pre-coordinate scheme, such as a classification, concepts from two or more facets can also be combined, following rules of citation order, to express compound&nbsp;subjects. Citation order has to take account of the role which each concept plays in the compound as well as the facet to which it belongs, and these roles and facet names should be explicitly shown in schedules to distinguish such&nbsp;combinations from hierarchical subordination. The first-cited facet need not be discipline, or field of activity, but can, for example, be &ldquo;things&rdquo; or &ldquo;phenomena&rdquo;.<br> Hierarchies which are not based on genus-species relationships need special consideration; whole-part relationships, for example, are best restricted to concepts which are individual instances rather than classes.</p>
