BRAIN Journal-Participative Teaching with Mobile Devices and Social Networks for K-12 Children-Figure 5. Fiber artist Alexandra Rusu (NUA) working at a Roman vertical loom (video movie)

The third stage was represented by the 3D virtual reconstruction process of the historical contexts, in our case a prehistoric village and a complete Roman villa rustica, with the help of students from the Design Department, NUA, coordinated by Professor Arch. Andreea Hasnaş. The AR application was created and tested on two commercial AR platforms, Layar and Junaio, and recently moved on the Aurasma platform (https://www.aurasma.com/). The POIs were augmented with the 3D virtual reconstructions, and also with 2D images and videos representing 3D virtual tours and technological processes (Figures 3, 4, 5). The AR application was connected to teachers’ emails and to Twitter, Facebook and Google+ project’s pages

Data from: How to use discrete choice experiments to capture stakeholder preferences in social work research

The primary article (cited below under "Related works") introduces social work researchers to discrete choice experiments (DCEs) for studying stakeholder preferences. The article includes an online supplement with a worked example demonstrating DCE design and analysis with realistic simulated data. The worked example focuses on caregivers' priorities in choosing treatment for children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. This dataset includes the scripts (and, in some cases, Excel files) that we used to identify appropriate experimental designs, simulate population and sample data, estimate sample size requirements for the multinomial logit (MNL, also known as conditional logit) and random parameter logit (RPL) models, estimate parameters using the MNL and RPL models, and analyze attribute importance, willingness to pay, and predicted uptake. It also includes the associated data files (experimental designs, data generation parameters, simulated population data and parameters, simulated choice data, MNL and RPL results, RPL sample size simulation results, and willingness-to-pay results) and images. The data could easily be analyzed using other software, and the code could easily be adapted to analyze other data. Because this dataset contains only simulated data, we are not aware of any legal or ethical considerations.

Flexible But Disconnected: Airbnb Hosts' Work-Family Experience and Social Isolation

This research explores relationships among Airbnb hosts’ experience of social isolation/loneliness, social support, work-family conflict in relation to wellbeing, life satisfaction, and intent to stay with Airbnb. We tested a structural model using data from 136 Airbnb hosts and found that greater levels of social isolation were associated with higher work-family conflict, lower mental wellbeing, and lower life satisfaction. We also found the social support was negatively related to social isolation. Our findings suggest the double-bind of gig work: while hosting on Airbnb provides flexible work and additional income, it may come at the cost of social isolation. This has implications for gig workers and the organizations who contract with them. The absence of social connection and the competitive nature of the gig economy may result in feelings of alienation unless measures are taken to prioritize the humanity of workers.
