Database Gil-Monte Burnout Model in Brazilian Teachers
<p>This dataset contains data of non-university teachers collected by paper and pencil at the workplace. These data were collected the professor Mary Sandra Carlotto in the south of Brazil. The participation in the study was voluntary and anonymous. Prior to the start of the assessment the school principal was contacted to obtain the authorization to carry out the study and design the data collection. Teachers were informed about the purpose of the study, and it was clarified that their participation would not result in any individual or organizational assessment consequences. The questionnaire was distributed to teachers at the beginning of their workday, and they were asked to submit the completed questionnaire by placing it in a box in the teachers’ room at the end of the day.</p> <p>The file contains demographic variables, the responses to 8 items of the General Self-efficacy Scale, 6 ítems of the Social support scale of the UNIPSICO questionnaire, 20 ítems of the Spanish Burnout Inventory, and 9 ítems from the Psychosomatic disorders scale of the UNIPSICO questionnaire.</p> <p>The name of the variables and the value labels have been written in English to facilitate their understanding.</p> <p>Data and codebooks are provided in csv format, following the FAIR principles.</p> <p>Three files are provided:<br>1. Database, with the data related to sample characteristics and the answers to the items of the questionnaires and the other items.<br>2. Database codebook of variables, with information of the labels of the variables of the Database file.<br>3. Database variable values codebook, with the labels of the values of the variables in the Database file.</p>
Psychometric Properties of the Maslach Burnout Inventory in Healthcare Professionals, Ancash Region, Peru
<p><strong>Background:</strong> Burnout syndrome (BS) among healthcare professionals in Peru demands immediate attention. Consequently, there is a need for a validated and standardized instrument to measure and address it effectively. This study aimed to determine the psychometric properties of the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) among healthcare professionals in the Ancash region of Peru.</p> <p><strong>Methods:</strong> Using an instrumental design, this study included 303 subjects of both sexes (77.56% women), ranging in age from 22 to 68 years (M = 44.46, SD = 12.25), selected via purposive non-probability sampling. Appropriate content validity, internal structure validity, and item internal consistency were achieved through confirmatory factor analysis, and discriminant validity for the three dimensions was obtained. Evidence of convergent validity was found for the Emotional Exhaustion (EE) and Personal Accomplishment (PA) dimensions, with reliability values (ω > .75).</p> <p><strong>Results:</strong> The EE and PA dimensions exhibited acceptable levels of reliability (ω and α > .80). However, the Depersonalization (DP) dimension demonstrated significantly lower reliability (α < .60 and ω < .50).</p> <p><strong>Conclusions:</strong> A correlated three-factor model was confirmed, with most items presenting satisfactory factor loadings and inter-item correlations. Nonetheless, convergent validity was not confirmed for the DP dimension.</p> <p><strong>Keywords: </strong>Burnout; Psychometrics; Validity; Reliability; Healthcare Professionals.</p>

Base de dados pesquisa sobre a atuação de professores brasileiros na pandemia e a síndrome de burnout
<p>A pesquisa desenvolvida na Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina teve o objetivo de analisar os níveis da Síndrome de Burnout na atuação docente durante a pandemia, procurando identificar fatores, condições e níveis de ensino que pudessem ser associados. A Síndrome de Burnout está associada a atividade profissional incluindo o esgotamento, a exaustão emocional, o estresse crônico e a desumanização. A pesquisa prevê dois procedimentos para coleta de dados. Em um primeiro momento construiu-se o instrumento que foi validado junto à especialistas. O questionário aplicado online incluiu questões sociodemográficas e de condições de saúde, bem como condições pessoais e institucionais para atuação como professor durante a pandemia e inclui a adaptação de um instrumento padronizado sobre a Síndrome de Burnout. </p>
Database research on the performance of Brazilian teachers in the pandemic and the burnout syndrome
<p>The research developed at the Federal University of Santa Catarina aimed to analyze the levels of Burnout Syndrome in teaching activities during the pandemic, seeking to identify factors, conditions and levels of education that could be associated. Burnout Syndrome is associated with professional activity including exhaustion, emotional exhaustion, chronic stress and dehumanization. The research foresees two procedures for data collection. At first, the instrument was built and validated with specialists. The questionnaire applied online included sociodemographic questions and health conditions, as well as personal and institutional conditions for acting as a teacher during the pandemic and includes the adaptation of a standardized instrument on Burnout Syndrome.</p>

Exploring the influence of core-self evaluations, situational factors, and coping on nurse burnout: A cross-sectional survey study
<p>Stress has become an inherent aspect of the nursing profession. Chronically experienced work stress can lead to burnout. Although situational stressors show a significant influence on burnout, their power to predict the complete syndrome is rather limited. After all, stressors only exist “in the eye of the beholder”. This study aimed to explore how individual vulnerability factors such as core-self evaluations and coping, contribute to burnout in relation to situational stressors within a population of hospital nurses.</p> <p>Cross-sectional data was collected in 2014, using five validated self-report instruments: Dutch Core Self Evaluations Scale, Nursing Work Index Revised, Utrecht Coping List, Ruminative Response Scale, and Utrecht Burnout Scale. 219 of the 250 questionnaires were returned. This database is available here.</p> <p>Core-self evaluations, situational factors and coping each contributed significantly to the predictive capacity of the models of the separate burnout dimensions. Core-self evaluations was significantly related to emotional exhaustion. It was suggested that Core-self evaluations might be placed at the initiation of the loss cycle. However, further research is warranted.</p>

Sociodemographic and Work-Related Factors Associated with Burnout Syndrome in Healthcare Professionals
<p><span>Background: Burnout syndrome, intensified during the COVID-19 pandemic, has profoundly impacted healthcare professionals' mental health globally. This study in Peru aimed to investigate sociodemographic and work-related factors associated with burnout dimensions among healthcare workers. Methods: Employing a cross-sectional predictive design, this study encompassed 1,844 healthcare professionals across three major hospitals in Peru. A carefully selected sample of 334 participants, ranging in age from 22 to 68 years and including both genders, was studied. Data collection involved a comprehensive sociodemographic work form and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), which is recognized for its robust psychometric properties. The research included thorough psychometric, descriptive, and inferential analyses, using linear regression to test various predictive models. Results: The study found that emotional exhaustion was significantly associated with several factors, including employment status (R² = 0.010), marital status (R² = 0.003), and length of service (R² = 0.015). Depersonalization showed a significant correlation with gender (R² = 0.015) and the amount of daily patient contact. Personal accomplishment was notably influenced by gender (R² = 0.039) and length of service (R² = 0.025). Conclusions: The research identified several key factors contributing to burnout, notably being female, having a contracted employment status, shorter service duration (specifically 6 to 10 years), and engaging in 1 to 6 hours of patient contact per day. These insights are crucial for understanding burnout in healthcare settings and underscore the need for targeted interventions and support strategies for healthcare professionals.</span></p>
Burnout and anxiety levels in Human Medicine teachers, COVID-19 context
<p><strong>Introduction: </strong>In the COVID-19 context, university teachers have had to face the most complex educational demands, psychosocial risks, and the anxiety of responding to limitations in terms of connectivity and fulfillment of academic objectives<strong>. Objective:</strong> To identify the levels of burnout and anxiety in the COVID-19 context and determine how these levels are manifested in the participating teachers. <strong>Methodology</strong>: Analytical-type study; non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The population was 150 teachers of the Human Medicine Program of the University of San Martín de Porres, Chiclayo, Peru; sample: 66 teachers. The survey consisted of three sections: 1. Informed consent, 2. Maslach's Burnout Inventory, 3. Beck's Anxiety Inventory. Data processing was performed using the SPSS V.27 statistical software. All citations and bibliographical references were processed using Mendeley Desktop 1.19.8. <strong>Results:</strong> in the variable burnout syndrome, 25% of the participants are in the high level downwards; they present anxiety in 30.30% of the total. It was found that 50% of teachers presented mild to moderate anxiety. <strong>Conclusions:</strong> the largest number of teachers surveyed present anxiety due to burnout syndrome in the COVID-19 context. Finally, it is found that there is a correlation between anxiety and the sociodemographic variables sex, age, and marital status.</p>
Six-month stability of individual differences in sports coaches' burnout, self-compassion and social support
<p>Using a three-wave prospective cross-lagged panel design, the study examined the six-month stability of burnout, self-compassion, and social support among sports coaches in terms of measurement invariance, mean-level change, rank-order stability, and structural stability. The participating coaches (<em>N</em> = 422; <em>M<sub>age</sub></em> = 44.48, <em>SD</em> = 11.03) completed an online questionnaire measuring self-compassion, social support, coach burnout, and demographics at baseline and two follow-ups at three months and six months. The various forms of stability were assessed using structural equation modeling. There was no significant mean-level change in burnout, self-compassion, or social support, and all three constructs exhibited measurement invariance. Rank-order stability remained relatively high, ranging from 0.78 to 0.94 across the three time points. For all three constructs, covariances between latent factors were invariant over time, indicating high structural stability. While self-compassion and social support were positively related, both were negatively related to coach burnout. These results confirm the importance of preventing and addressing symptoms of burnout, low self-compassion, and poor social support in sports settings.</p>

Professional burnout of medical professionals according to specialties and generations
<p>The problem of professional burnout of medical workers around the world is acute and is directly related to the quality of medical care.</p> <p>The aim of the study is to determine the prevalence, severity and risk factors of professional burnout syndrome of medical workers in Tomsk region according to generations to develop preventive measures.</p> <p>Materials and methods. As part of the study, a questionnaire was developed that consisted of 41 questions aimed at assessing the life factors of medical professionals. Also it included an abbreviated version of the MBI questionnaire (Maslach Burnout Inventory) in the Russian-language adaptation by N. E. Vodopyanova and E. S. Starchenkova (2005). The study population was divided into age groups based on the generational theory. Participation in the survey was anonymous and voluntary.</p> <p>Expected results of the study. The study will determine the factors of development professional burnout syndrome of medical workers in Tomsk region according to generations and identify possible correlations with socio-economic status, as well as suggest corrective measures to modernize the personnel policy aimed at preventing this syndrome.</p>
