Creative Flow in Dance: Consensual Assessment of Creative Outcomes of Dance Group Improvisation
<p>Group flow refers to peak experience when a group is performing at its highest level of abilities. This study examined the relationship between the group flow experience of an improvising group of contemporary dancers and their creative outcomes evaluated by the consensual assessment method (CAT). The dataset consists of the data and analysis used in the "Creative Flow in Dance: Consensual Assessment of Creative Outcomes of Dance Group Improvisation (in press)."</p> <p>First, eight groups of four dancers were recruited to perform improvised dance scores for video recordings. The low and high-flow improvisations videoclips were selected based on dancers’ reports in the video-stimulated recall method, Flow (Łucznik, May, 2021). Subsequently, these videoclips were rated by 77 experts and 126 nonexperts using CAT on five dimensions: aesthetic appeal, technique demands, meaningfulness, coherence /collaboration of the group, and creativity.</p> <p>Experts rated high-flow improvisations as more creative than the low-flow ones. In comparison, nonexperts’ ratings of high and low-flow improvisation did not differ, although the reliability measures of nonexperts creativity judgments were noticeably lower than in the expert group. Regardless of expertise, creativity judgments were significantly related to all other CAT factors: aesthetic appeal, technique, meaningfulness and coherence of improvisation. The results provide evidence that group flow leads to higher creativity. Moreover, they suggest that subjective judgments of creativity of performance arts cannot be easily separated from judgments of their technical level, aesthetic appeal, meaningfulness or coherence of the group.</p>

PLOS ONE.</p> <p>Description of work associated with this data:</p> <blockquote> <p>As a profession, acting is marked by a high-level of economic and social riskiness concomitantly with the possibility for artistic satisfaction and/or public admiration. Current understanding of the psychological attributes that distinguish professional actors is incomplete. Here, we compare samples of professional actors (n = 104), undergraduate student actors (n = 100), and non-acting adults (n = 92) on 26 psychological dimensions and use machine-learning methods to classify participants based on these attributes. Nearly all of the attributes measured here displayed significant univariate mean differences across the three groups, with the strongest effect sizes being on Creative Activities, Openness, and Extraversion. A cross-validated Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) classification model was capable of identifying actors (either professional or student) from non-actors with a 92% accuracy and was able to sort professional from student actors with a 96% accuracy when age was included in the model, and a 68% accuracy with only psychological attributes included. In these LASSO models, actors in general were distinguished by high levels of Openness, Assertiveness, and Elaboration, but professional actors were specifically marked by high levels of Originality, Volatility, and Literary Activities.</p> </blockquote>

Golden Agents - Processes of Creativity (case study)
<p>We can observe a 'rise' of or 'renewed interest' in the illustrated book in the second half of 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century. New genres and techniques and an increasing competition in the book market lead to new collaborations between authors, printers, and illustrators. It would be interesting to track these producers who collaborated on illustrated book projects and trace whether these commercial collaborations were grounded or resulted in social and/or religious interactions. For this, we are bringing together several datasets in the Golden Agents infrastructure that each contain information on the production of books, or on social relations between actors involved in the production process.</p> <p>Aim of case study:</p> <ul> <li>Linking & querying different datasets to find overarching patterns on creative industries in the Dutch Republic</li> </ul> <p>Overarching Research Question:</p> <ul> <li>How can we map innovation in cultural production?</li> <li>What is the relation between different sorts (bonding & bridging) of creative and social interactions?</li> </ul> <p>This release (v0.9) marks the state of the data and case study at the end of the Golden Agents project (2016-2022).</p>

<p>The following document contains the material produced for the testing of the "caring prototype" <em>MyTISSE</em>, an interactive user experience on Matisse's painting <em>Bathers by a rive</em>r (Art Institute of Chicago). Focusing on the change of the pigments made by the artist during the gestation of this canvas, the UX exploits creative engagement to catalyze meaning creation processes.</p> <p>This pubblication contains the data collected through the form. All the participants agreed to the reuse and sharing of these data for academic purposes, filling in an <em>ad hoc </em>privacy form.</p>
FEDORA.Transcription and photos from the Intensive Creative Workshop I on Acceleration, Complexity and Interdisciplinarity
<p>The dataset contains transcription and photos from the Intensive Creative Workshop I on Acceleration, Complexity, and Interdisciplinarity realised within the FEDORA project. The workshop was held in Bologna on 9th July 2021 and involved 16 participants with diverse backgrounds: science communicators, artists, graphic designers, novelists, photographers, researchers, school teachers, and video producers. Self-efficacy and creativity data
<p>The overall difference between the self-efficacy score between the pre and the post-test is significant (t=-4.238, df=470, p=0.000). While the average score in the beginning was 54.56 it increased slightly to an average of 55.51.</p> <p>As the sample paired T-Test shows there is indeed a significant difference between the pre and the post-test (T=-4,706, df=393, p=0,000). While the average raw score in the pre-test was 18,61, the score in the post-test is significantly higher with 20,43. In other words, creativity as measured via the TSD-Z is higher at the end than at the beginning of the DOIT action.</p>

<p>This training, provided by Shanna Hollich, the Learning and Training Manager of Creative Commons (CC), was hosted by the Michael J. Fox Foundation's Data Community of Practice (DCOP). For more information on the DCOP, please contact: researchcommunity@michaeljfox.org.</p> <p>In the ever-evolving digital landscape, the management of research outputs, including data licensing and copyright, is of utmost importance. This 1.5-hour training provided a forum for participants to learn more about open licensing and copyright. It also aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and best practices they need to effectively navigate the complexities of CC licensing and copyright when using and generating research outputs such as scholarly publications, datasets, and white papers.<br><br>By the end of the workshop, participants developed an understanding of the basic principles of copyright, how it works, and where it applies.
