Dataset for "The influence of the amount of recycled material on the microstructure and properties of the second generation of single-domain YBCO bulks"

<p>The development of a recycling process for various REBCO materials is crucial considering both environmental sustainability and economic efficiency, particularly in light of the upcoming large-scale applications. In this paper, a novel general recycling process based on chemical dissolution was employed to grow REBCO bulks; recycled material obtained by recycling defective YBCO single-domain bulks was added (15 wt. %, 30 wt. % and 45 wt. %) to raw materials to prepare recycled YBCO precursor powder. Subsequently, recycled single-domain YBCO bulks were produced using Top-Seeded Melt Growth. The waste recycling related to of single-domain bulks growth was chosen, as it represents the most challenging form of waste in the context of REBCO superconductor production. The properties and microstructure of recycled bulks were further analyzed to determine the influence of the amount of recycled material used and compared to commercially produced bulks. Single-domain YBCO bulks were grown successfully from the recycled precursor powder. Furthermore, it was found that their properties could be tuned by varying the amount of the added recycled powder, allowing the use of vast amounts of REBCO waste for the preparation of bulks, when achieving the best possible properties is not essential for a given application. Given that the underlying recycling process is designed to work for all REBCO systems and any form of waste, it has significant implications for the sustainability and cost-effectiveness of REBCO superconductor production.&nbsp;</p>

Dataset for Gate-to-Gate Life Cycle Assessment of Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling Pre-Treatment

<p>Recycling spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) is crucial for improving environmental sustainability and conserving resources. Due to the diversity of LIB applications and recycling technologies, the environmental and energy impacts are not well understood. Comprehensive assessments must consider the distinct operations, methodologies, technology efficiency, and final treatment of materials. This study provides a partial gate-to-gate life cycle analysis (LCA) of a small-scale recycling plant in the Czech Republic, focusing on pre-treatment of spent LIBs from electric vehicles (EVs) and consumer electronics cells (CECs). The study highlights the benefits of recycling pre-treatment for CECs, significantly reducing environmental impact categories (EICs) such as climate change, eutrophication, and resource use. A high secondary use rate of obtained materials is crucial for environmental benefits, with metal reuse from packaging, connectors, and current collectors being especially important.</p>

Mangrove biomass and root architecture in recycled glass sand, SE Louisiana 2023-2024

As coastal regions experience accelerating land loss, artificial substrates may be useful in restoration efforts to replenish sediment and facilitate plant colonization. Recycled glass sand is a potential artificial substrate for marsh building due to its sustainability, availability, and similarity to natural substrates. However, differences in texture and availability of microbiota necessitate investigating how it affects plant growth. We tested the effect of three substrates (conventionally used dredged river sand, recycled glass sand, and a 50:50 mix) and inoculation with natural soil microbes on the biomass and root architecture of black mangrove (Avicennia germinans) in a 5.5 month greenhouse experiment.

Moisture Recycling over the Iberian Peninsula

<p>These data are made available as part of paper: S. J. Gonzalez-Roji, J. Saenz, J. Diaz de Argandona,&nbsp;G. Ibarra-Berastegi&nbsp;(2020) &quot;Moisture recycling over the Iberian Peninsula. The impact of 3DVAR data assimilation&quot;, published in&nbsp;<em>Atmosphere </em>(<a href="https://doi.org/10.3390/atmos11010019">https://doi.org/10.3390/atmos11010019</a>). The dataset holds selected postprocessed files that allow to reproduce all the results in the paper.</p> <p>Two WRF experiments nested in ERA-Interim were prepared. The first one (N) was configured as in standard numerical downscaling experiments. The second one (D), with the same parameterizations, included a step of 3DVAR data assimilation every 6 hours. The original experiments covered period 2010-2014 after a year of spin-up (2019). However, D was extended until the end of 2018.&nbsp;</p> <p>The following monthly averaged (accumulated for rain) nc files are included:</p> <p>- Qx/Qy: Refer to the zonal and meridional vertically integrated&nbsp;moisture fluxes for the domain.&nbsp;</p> <p>- Rain: Include the accumulated convective and large-scale precipitation output from the model.&nbsp;</p> <p>- SMOIS: Contains the soil moisture of the model runs.</p> <p>- mask: Defines the area where the recycling ratio is calculated over the Iberian Peninsula.&nbsp;</p> <p>- Rho: Holds the recycling ratio at every grid point.&nbsp;</p> <p>The -N- or -D- characters in the file names indicate whether the files come from the WRF N or WRF D experiments.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

<div><strong>Summary:</strong></div> <div>One polymer-modified bitumen PMB 25/55-60 was tested in two stages: original and after the modified Thin-Film Oven Test (TFOT). The time ranges from 1h-5h, and temperatures from 120&deg;C-200&deg;C were used. The Fourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy and Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) with parallel plates were conducted. Desired properties of recycling-derived fertilisers from an end-user perspective

<p>This data refers to responses to questions asked to farmers and farm advisors in seven different North-West European countries, relating to the desired properties of the mineral fertiliser substitutes, recycling derived fertilisers (RDFs).&nbsp; In total, 1225 participants responded from Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The types of questions asked included the participants&#39; demographics and farming activities, and the parameters, properties and qualities the respondents were looking for, to determine the desired properties of RDFs.</p>

MainstreamBIO_Collection of Nutrient Recycling Practices_Dataset1_2023.06.01_v1

<p>The dataset&nbsp;contains a developed set of Nutrient recycling practices (NRPs), which refer&nbsp;to the processes of recovering nutrients from organic waste and wastewater and returning them to agricultural land as recycled nutrient fertilizers (RNFs). In the processes, nutrients from nutrient-rich materials created during production and consumption are reused sustainably and safely as recycled nutrients. NRP is a sustainable practice that helps reduce waste and pollution while improving soil health and increasing crop yields. NRP also reduces the use of non-renewable natural resources and can reduce nutrient emissions into the environment.</p> <p>Most of the selected practices are widely used mainly in agriculture, but also in forestry. A large group of them is well recognized and accepted by stakeholders, but some of them are associated with a specific location where appropriate biomass and technology is available. A certain group of practices presents an innovative approach to the problem of nutrient recycling and these practices are not widely known and implemented.</p>

Data for: New approach for processing recycled carbon staple fiber yarns to unidirectional reinforced recycled carbon staple fiber tape

<p>This data set was generated at&nbsp;Leibniz-Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe GmbH in the project "Process analysis of the pseudo-plastic deformation behavior of unidirectional reinforced staple fiber organo sheets" is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) – funding reference 471480678. The goal was to develop a novel process approach for the further processing of staple fiber yarns made from long recycled carbon fibers (rCF) and polyamide 6 (PA6) to highly aligned staple fiber tapes. For this purpose, the input material as well as the manufactured tapes were characterized and examined in thermal analyses. In addition, the influence of the process parameters in the tape manufacturing process on the width and thickness of the tapes and the mechanical properties were investigated. The flexural and tensile properties were then compared with a laminate wound from the staple fiber yarns. The data set is divided in the results of the TGA, DSC, laser profile scans, tensile tests and flexural tests.</p>
