High-frequency, long-term measurements of water quality and chlorophyll in the Tempe Town Lake, Tempe, Arizona, USA, ongoing since 2018
Constructed in 1997, the Tempe Town Lake is a small reservoir that transforms a section of the typically-dry Salt River bed into a 224-acre lake in the heart of Tempe, Arizona. To accommodate the river when it flows, the lake features hydraulically-operated steel gates that allow water to pass through the system unimpeded. The lake has been a remarkable success as a community amenity and as a driver of economic growth in the area around the lake. The lake provides an ideal model system for the many artificial lakes constructed in arid-land cities owing to management decisions, such as draining, that affect their operation and ecology. At the same time, dramatic shifts in hydrology and chemistry when the lake is transformed to a flowing river and back into a Lake during and after floods, provide opportunities to study the system's dynamic evolution to new limnological steady states. The CAP LTER began measuring water quality, including temperature, pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, dissolved organic carbon (DOC), and total dissolved nitrogen (TDN) in the lake starting 2005. Initially, these data were collected through a mix of hand-held meters and analyses of water samples collected during regular visits to the lake (e.g., see [knb-lter-cap.630](https://portal.edirepository.org/nis/mapbrowse?scope=knb-lter-cap&identifier=630)). In summer 2018, the CAP LTER installed a *in situ* datasonde to measure water quality, including optical dissolved organic carbon characteristics, at high temporal resolution (~ 30 minutes). After a brief period during which data were collected both with the datasonde, and by hand-held meters and analyses of water samples, the project transitioned to collecting data exclusively with the datasonde. The data presented here reflect readings captured by the datasone.

<p>In order to enable the sharing of data the emission data for vehicles is standardized. The data exchange format contains all data that is applicable for a specific engine taxonomy code.</p> <p>The standardized emission map has a “.map.txt” extension and is also human readable. Annual summer single-day measurements of the thermal environment with a bio-meteorological sensor under trees, shade structures, and sun-exposed areas in the Rio Salado Park in Tempe, AZ, USA
We have measured the thermal environment/bio-meteorological conditions under trees, shade structures, and at sun-exposed locations in the Rio Salado Park in Tempe, AZ, USA annually since 2018 on a clear sky, hot, sunny day in June/July to track shade performance of newly planted trees over time. Measurements were taken with a mobile bio-meteorological weather station, known as MaRTy (Middel & Krayenhoff, 2019; DOI: 10.1016/j.scitotenv.2019.06.085). Since the measurement campaign began, some of the trees have died, were removed, or their environment has changed due to external events such as a bridge collapse (2020-07-29).

<p>La formule énigmatique d’Héraclite « Le temps (aiôn) est un enfant qui joue. La royauté de l’enfant » invite à s’interroger sur le rapport du philosophe au jeu, du divin et du ludique, du hasard et de la chance, et à développer une réflexion interdisciplinaire. Les doctorant.e.s auront l’occasion de participer à un débat qui associe des spécialistes de domaines différents.</p> <p>Le fragment d’Héraclite introduit, dès le départ, la question des approches littéraires et textuelles. Comment analyser des textes transmis de manière fragmentaire ? Comment les éditer et les attribuer ? Les doctorant.e.s seront conduit.e.s à évaluer l’importance de la mise en contexte des fragments, en réfléchissant à l’écart chronologique entre le fragment cité et l’ouvrage qui le cite et en interrogeant l’existence d’une spécificité de la citation, liée au genre littéraire. L’étude de fragments impose également de travailler sur l’histoire de la transmission : quelle fut la faveur de ce texte dans l’Antiquité et au-delà ? (ERC Locus Ludi/CIERGA XVI)</p> <p>en lien avec sa contribution:</p> <p>Incertitudes herméneutiques</p> <p>La coupe 13521 du musée National de Copenhague présente un certain nombre de traits iconographiques exceptionnels qui en font une variante unique dans la série des représentations de guerriers jouant au pente gramma. Ces variantes, par rapport à l’iconographie d’Achille et Ajax jouant, ont fait l’objet d’interprétations diverses et contradictoires. On se propose de reprendre ce dossier pour en préciser le détail et mettre à l’épreuve les diverses lectures proposées. La part divinatoire d’un tel exercice ne doit pas être dissimulée, et l’on cherchera, chemin faisant à mettre au point quelques règles du jeu concernant l’herméneutique de l’image.</p>

Notre étude s'appuie sur les textes librement déposés par les auteurs sur la plateforme HAL/@sic. La fouille de texte s'effectue par une série d'analyses lexicométriques afin de répondre à deux objectifs : appréhender les notions liées au temps dans les recherches en SIC, d’une part, d’autre part rendre compte de l’évolution dans le temps des champs et questions de recherche en SIC.</p>

Ecohydrological monitoring of urban ecological infrastructure at the Arizona State University Tempe Campus (Tempe, Arizona)
Urban Ecological Infrastructure (UEI) are urban ecological structures whose ecological functions are increasingly being used to deliver key urban services and address urban sustainability challenges. The growing use of UEI to address urban sustainability challenges can bring together teams of urban researchers and practitioners to co-produce UEI design, monitoring and maintenance. However, this co-production process received little attention in the literature, and has not been studied in the Phoenix Metro Area. This study examined several components of a co-produced design process and related project outcomes associated with a small-scale UEI project – bioretention basins installed at the Arizona State University (ASU) Orange Mall and Student Pavilion in Tempe, AZ. We explored the design process associated with the collaborative development of an ecohydrological monitoring protocol for assessment of post-construction performance of this UEI system. This co-production process involved both CAP LTER researchers and practitioners, designers, and managers at ASU and associated third-party consultants involved in site design and management. Together, these researchers and practitioners co-produced a suite of ecohydrological metrics to monitor the performance of the bioretention basins at Orange Mall. Specifically, this protocol evaluated the performance of the UEI system with regards to two of it’s key design goals: storm water capture and storm water quality improvement. The ecohydrological data produced by the implementation of this monitoring protocol are presented here. Monitoring equipment were installed throughout the site in June and July 2018. Site monitoring and data collection began in August 2018, and continued through Feb 2019.
