Data from: Topological nano-switches in higher-order topological insulators

This repository provides data underlying the figures in the manuscript titled 'Topological nano-switches in higher-order topological insulators'.

The data is given in CSV-format and the data files are named after their respective figures. The data corresponding to figure 2 is provided separately for the four field orientations in each panel of the figure, and contains the probability density on each site of the discretized system as a 2D array. Similarly, the data for figure C1 is provided separately. The other files contain the scattering matrix elements in columns labeled 'ij', with each row corresponding to an orientation of the magnetic field in the range [0, 2π] listed in the column labeled 'theta'.

The data was generated using Kwant, a free (open source), powerful, and easy to use Python package for numerical calculations on tight-binding models. An example of how the studied systems were constructed is included in 'higher_order_ti_nano_switches.py', and contains the code to calculate the corresponding scattering matricies for a chosen set of parameters. The probability density included in the data related to figure 2 can similarly be extracted from the discretized system. See 'kwant-project.org' for additional details.

Excited-state photoemission band mapping data of the topological insulator Bi2Te2Se

The dataset contains excited-state photoemission band mapping data of the topological insulator Bi2Te2Se.

Provenance; The measurements were carried out at the Fritz Haber Insititute of the Max Planck Society, Germany. The Bi2Te2Se sample was grown at Aarhus University, Denmark. The photoelectrons were detected using SPECS METIS 1000 3D detector with extreme UV pulses centered at 21.7 eV as probe and a pump light pulses centered at 800 nm, which populates part of the excited electronic states (i.e. first conduction band).

Content: The dataset comes from (1) binning of the single-electron event data and (2) preprocessing through symmetrization and MCLAHE algorithm (https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/8895993) for contrast adjustment

Usage: The dataset is the prerequisite for band structure reconstruction, which may be used for reproducing the results in (https://arxiv.org/abs/2005.10210). For reconstruction, see the source code and examples on GitHub (https://github.com/mpes-kit/fuller).

Nontrivial gapless states at the stacking faults of weak topological insulators

This code is used to study the topological properties of weak topological insulators in the presence of a stacking fault. Each WTI is made by a stack of zigzag ribbons stacked on top of each other in the z direction. There are two types of WTIs taken into consideration. One has a topological ribbon and a insulating spacer in each unit cell (two layers per unit cell). The other one has one topological layer and two spacers in each unit cell (three layers per unit cell).
