The right inset pictures show the hand (above) and foot of the P. tsaratananaensis holotype in ventral view. Lower part: Ventral views of hands and feet (not to scale) of male and female specimens of Platypelis tsaratananaensis in comparison with the morphologically similar P. pollicaris. Note that in both species, males have a larger prepollex (prepollical tubercle) than females, but the male prepollex is much more strongly expressed in P. pollicaris. Furthermore the third toe is distinctly shorter than the fifth toe in P. tsaratananaensis. Note that the apparently reduced first toe in P. tsaratananaensis is due to it being partly overlain by the second toe in the photograph which was taken so that the third and fifth toes are at the same level.
