It was transcribed from a copy of A.H. 897. The aforesaid Muḥammad Ṣâdiḳ finished it at <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Delhi">Shâhjahânâbâd</a>, on 2<sup>nd</sup> Rabî’ I., 1154 (فی الثانی من الشهر الثالث من السنة الرابعة بعد العقد الخامس من المائة الثانیة من الالف الثانی من هجرة من لا ثانی له فی الوجود الخ). He concludes with a poem in praise of the work, beginning:</p> <p>تم کتاب هو الجُمانُ وَهْوَ عن الکون ترجمانُ</p> <p>Each of the above parts has an ornament on its first page; the vacant leaves between them are ornamented with gold lines.</p> <p>II. Foll. 266-286. The first part of the author’s abridgement of the preceding work, called النجاة, on Logic. This work has been printed at Rome, 1593, as an appendix to Ibn Sînâ’s <em>Ḳânûn</em>. These glosses are probably alluded to by H.Kh. vi. 475; cf. iii. 534. They are entitled كشف الغين عن شرح حكمة العين.</p> <p>The Long Preface begins: حمدا لمن شد بحکمته متون العلماء و شرح بفضله صدور الفضلاء. . The author states in it that he compiled these annotations only for private use, not for publication. He made use of the glosses (التعليقات) of <em>Mas’ûd</em> <em>Sharwânî</em>,<sup>2</sup> while he usually took no notice of the popular glosses of الفاضل الشيرازی (probably Ḳuṭb al-dîn, see no.498). The preface concludes with a long invocation of ‘Alî.</p> <p>These annotations end with the first book (مقالة) of the حكمة العين. The passages commented on are introduced by قال or قوله.</p> <p>Well Written. Nineteen lines in a page.</p> <p>شرح حكمة العين</p> <p>A Commentary (ممزوج) on Najm al-dîn Abu Bakr (sic,<em>alias</em> Abu’l-Hasan ‘Ali ) b.’Omar <em>Kâtibî Kazwînî’s</em> (d. A.H. 675) حكمة العين , or System of Metaphysics and Physics; by Shams al-dîn Muḥammad b. Mubârak Shâh Bukhâri, commonly called MÎRAK. Cf. Ḥ. Kh. iii. 103; Bible. Lugd. iii. 367.</p> <p>The preface begins: اما بعد حمد الله فاطر ذوات العقول النورية .... فان المولى العلامة ملك المحققين افضل المتاخرين شمس الملة والدين محمد بن مباركشاه البخارى برّد الله مضجعه يقول قد التمس منى بعض اخواني الخ.</p> <p>The author says in it that his commentary contains, besides extracts from other works, the entire glosses (حواشي) of <em>Ḳuṭb al-dîn Shîrâzi</em> (d. A.H. 710).</p> <p>The first part of Kâtibî’s work (القسم الاول في العلم الالهي) consists of four مقالة ; viz.: 1. في الامور العامة</p> <p>(fol.5); 2.في العلل و المعلولات (fol. 57<em>v</em>.) ; 3.في احكام الجواهر و الاعراض (fol.69) ; 4.في اثبات واجب الوجود (fol.130). The second part (في العلم الطبيعي) comprises five مقالة : 1.في احكام الجسم (fol. 150<em>v</em>.) ; 2.في مباحث الحركة (fol.163) ; 3. في احكام الافلاك (fol. 190) ; 4.(fol.224), without title , on the elements, etc.; 5. (fol.261) في النفس النباتية و الحيوانية .</p> <p>The greater part of this MS. (from fol.76 to the end) is well written, by ‘Abdallah b. Mûsa. Date, Saturday, 15th Sha’bân, 993. Red Lines round the pages.</p> <p>The first portion is supplied by a different hand. Part of this commentary, comprising the first فن of the Physics, was printed in Oudh(?), A.H.1262.</p> <p>The preface, which is without interest, begins: الحمد لله مخترع العقل الفعّال. It is followed by an introduction on philosophy in general. There is also a long epilogue, which begins: و لیکن هذا آخر ما تيسر لنا في شرح هذا الكتاب‘ مستعينين بملهم الصواب‘ عند تلاطم امواج الهموم‘ و تراكم افواج الغموم‘ و خلوّ الديار‘ عمن يعرف قدر غوامض الاسرار‘ و علوم الابرار‘ سيّما في هذا الزمان الذي انطفأت فيه انوار الحكمة الخ.</p> <p>Neatly written in Nasta’lîk. This copy was transcribed at Ḥaidarâbâd (in Sindh), probably from the author’s own copy, by a native of Sîwistân.<sup>1</sup> With some marginal notes of the author.</p> <p>The last two pages contain tables, in the same handwriting, on the influences of the stars, derived from IBN SÎNÂ, تاثير الافلاك في العالم من قول الشيخ الرئيس ابي علي, which are followed by some notes and <em>Persian</em> verses.
