(Oxford: India Office, 1903): volume 1,</strong></a>&nbsp;<strong>number 328 here with notations and hyperlinks].</strong></li> </ul> <p>905</p> <p>D&icirc;w&acirc;n-i-Ab&ucirc;-alfaraj R&ucirc;n&icirc; (ديوان ابو الفرج رونى).</p> <p>Lyrical poems by Ab&ucirc;-alfaraj bin Mas&rsquo;&ucirc;d al-R&ucirc;n&icirc;, who was born in L&acirc;h&ucirc;r (see the Haft Iḳl&icirc;m, No. 358), and flourished in the reigns of Sulṭ&acirc;n Ibr&acirc;h&icirc;m of Ghazna (A.H. 451-492=A.D. 1059-1099) and his son and successor Sulṭ&acirc;n Mas&rsquo;&ucirc;d III (A.H. 492-508=A.D. 1099-1114), to both of whom he addressed panegyrics.</p> <p>He is not to be confounded with an older poet, Ab&ucirc;-alfaraj Sijz&icirc;, who was attached to the court of the Amir Ab&ucirc; &lsquo;Al&icirc; S&icirc;mj&ucirc;r, the governor of Khur&acirc;s&acirc;n under the S&acirc;m&acirc;nides (see Haft Iḳlim, No. 303), and whose pupil &lsquo;Unṣur&icirc; was. The usual dates, assigned to Ab&ucirc;-alfaraj R&ucirc;n&icirc;&rsquo;s death, viz. A.H. 482 or 489 (A.D. 1089 or 1096), cannot be authentic, as the poet styles Sulṭ&acirc;n Mas&rsquo;&ucirc;d III, the reigning sovereign in various ḳaṣ&icirc;das; compare Bodleian Cat., Nos. 366 (Butkh&acirc;na, No. 1), 523, and 1333 (col. 823); Rieu ii. p. 547, and A. Sprenger, Catal., p. 308. This d&icirc;w&acirc;n, which is incomplete at the end, contains chiefly ḳaṣ&icirc;das, with a few ghazals, ḳiṭ&rsquo;as, and rub&acirc;&rsquo;&icirc;s.</p> <p>Beginning:</p> <p>سپهر دولت و دين پادشاه (آفتاب in other copies) هفت اقليم ابو المظفّر شاه مظفّر ابراهيم</p> <p>The copy breaks off on fol. 429<sup>b</sup>; ff. 430<sup>b</sup>-432 contain a short extract from Sa&rsquo;d&icirc;&rsquo;s B&ucirc;st&acirc;n, written by another hand. Haft Iḳlim, No. 1035, col. 454 above in this Cat.; &Acirc;tashkada, No. 596 (Bodleian Cat., col. 283); Butkh&acirc;na, No. 25 (ib., col. 199); Makhzan-alghar&acirc;&rsquo;ib, No. 14 (ib., col. 317); A. Sprenger, Catal., p. 17, No. 51. According to the &Acirc;tashkada he died A.H. 656 (A.D. 1258), according to Taḳ&icirc; K&acirc;sh&icirc; A.H. 665 (A.D. 1266, 1267). (Oxford: India Office, 1903): volume 1,</strong></a>&nbsp;<strong>number 328 here with notations and hyperlinks].</strong></li> </ul> <p>1440</p> <p>D&icirc;w&acirc;n-i-Hijr&icirc; R&acirc;z&icirc; ( ديوان هجرى رازى).</p> <p>Lyrical poems of Khw&acirc;jah Muḥammad Shar&icirc;f (according to the Makhzan-alghar&acirc;&rsquo;ib, Y&ucirc;suf) Hijr&icirc; of Rai, who was first waz&icirc;r of Khur&acirc;s&acirc;n, later on under Sh&acirc;h Ṭahm&acirc;sp, of Yazd and Abarḳ&ucirc;h, and finally of Iṣfah&acirc;n; he was a nephew of the poet Um&icirc;d&icirc; (see Haft Iḳl&icirc;m, Nos. 1112 and 1114, col. 461 in this Cat.), and the father both of Khw&acirc;jah Ghiy&acirc;th-ald&icirc;n Muḥammad (better known as I&rsquo;tim&acirc;d-aldaulah, wazir of the emperor Jah&acirc;ng&icirc;r and father of Jah&acirc;ng&icirc;r&rsquo;s wife, N&ucirc;rjah&acirc;n) and of the poet Muḥammad Ṭ&acirc;hir Waṣl&icirc; (ib. Nos. 1115 and 1116). Hijr&icirc; died A.H. 984 (A.D. 1576, 1577), comp. besides the Haft Iḳlim, loc. cit., Taḳ&icirc; K&acirc;sh&icirc;, No. 573 (A. Sprenger, Catal., p. 42); Naf&acirc;&rsquo;is-alma&acirc;thir (ib. p. 55, l. 3) ; Il&acirc;h&icirc; (ib. p. 87, l. 8 ab infra); Safinah, No. 190 (col. 217 in the Bodleian Cat.); Makhzan-alghar&acirc;&rsquo;ib, No. 3051 (ib. col. 394), and Rieu i. p. 335<sup>b</sup>. According to the &Acirc;tashkada, No. 461 (col. 279 in the Bodleian Cat.), the poet died A.H. 982 (A.D. 1574, 1575) in Yazd.</p> <p>This d&icirc;w&acirc;n contains:</p> <p>Haftband (هفت بند) in praise of &lsquo;Al&icirc;, an imitation of the Haftband of Mull&acirc; Ḥasan K&acirc;sh&icirc; (see on this poem, likewise in praise of &lsquo;Al&icirc;, in seven stanzas, A.
