About the role

This position is part of the Idaho Operations Office, Department of Energy. As an Interdisciplinary General Engineer/Physical Scientist, you will provide professional engineering or physical science expertise and support to DOE programs, projects or initiatives whose mission or responsibilities include a combination of engineering and physical science work that supports the DOE mission to maintain U.S. preeminence in engineering and scientific technology research and applications.

Veterans shape the future of energy As an Interdisciplinary General Engineer/Physical Scientist, you will: Provide expert advisory services and leadership for extensive, complex scientific and engineering efforts, especially those lacking clear precedents. Direct the research, development, planning, and implementation of significant segments of major DOE programs or projects. Formulate and implement scientific and engineering strategies to advance energy resources, environmental solutions, or new technologies, ensuring alignment with DOE policy. Evaluate the effectiveness of new concepts, technological trends, and risks, recommending advanced approaches for highly significant scientific and engineering advancements. Serve as a recognized expert, providing authoritative advice and guidance on novel, challenging, or controversial technical issues to internal and external high-level stakeholders. Manage and coordinate the execution of major programs and projects, including negotiating contractual terms and evaluating overall progress against objectives, costs, and schedules.

Education
