NIST is looking for a visionary Statistical Metrologist to push the boundaries of measurement science. In this role, you won't just analyze data, you will advance the state-of-the-art in foundational and applied statistics to support the very core of the NIST mission. Responsibilities
- As a Statistical Metrologist, you will drive innovation in measurement science by advancing both foundational and applied statistical methodologies. You will serve as a technical expert, applying cutting-edge data science and machine learning techniques to solve complex metrology challenges across emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and advanced communications. In this role, you will: Develop state-of-the-art foundational and applied statistical designs, modeling techniques, and computing strategies to enhance NIST's core measurement service capabilities. Apply high-level data science models and machine learning methods to address metrological challenges in critical areas, including spectral analysis, materials research, communications technology, and semiconductor development. Partner with NIST researchers to evaluate the performance of existing measurement methods and lead the development of innovative, next-generation metrology solutions. Provide essential statistical support for NIST's measurement and calibration services through the development of standard reference materials, the coordination of inter-laboratory studies, and the execution of key comparisons. Drive Technical Innovation: Conduct independent or collaborative statistical research and lead software development initiatives specifically tailored to statistical metrology to advance the broader NIST mission.
Education
